Abstract:The microstructure and strengthening mechanism of 7003 aluminum alloy were studied by equal channel angular pressing (ECAP) with four different extrusion temperatures in this paper. After single-pass ECAP, as the extrusion temperature decreases from 400 to 20 °C, the grain size of the alloy decreases from 13.5 to 7.6 μm, which helps to improve the strength and elongation of the alloy by processing temperature. Combined with strength, plasticity, toughness and texture strength, the comprehensive mechanical properties of ECAP 20 °C-T6 sample are the best. Due to the increase in ECAP temperature, the atomic diffusion rate increases continuously, and the growth rate of recrystallized grains also increases. Dynamic recrystallization consumes dislocations, resulting in a slow downward trend in the final dislocation density. The decrease in ECAP temperature makes the average size of the second phase particles smaller and the distribution more uniform. According to the analysis of the strengthening mechanism, the proportion of strength increment under the strengthening mechanism from large to small is: precipitation strengthening, dislocation strengthening, grain boundary strengthening and solid solution strengthening.
