Abstract:A kind of ferric chelates desulfurization solutions was prepared.The effect of temperature and pH value on the desulphurization efficiency was investigated,and desulphurization performance was esti-mated.The results indicated that desulphurization efficiency of solution 4 was highest with temperature 50 ℃ and pH value 9 ~9.5.Breakthrough time was 170 min and the liquid phase sulfur capacity was 0.845 g/L.The effect of desulphurization is superior to that of desulfurization solutions in market.

Abstract:Preliminary research has shown that red mud is a viable option to be used as a fluxing agent in the steelmaking process, as it is able to achieve similar results as fluxes currently used in steel refining. This research focused on how red mud can be used as a flux for refining steel. Desulfurization was conducted with aluminum additions and temperature variations. The results showed that experiments utilized waste residues from the aluminum industry as refining flux for steel refining; more than 95% sulfur reduction was achieved; increasing temperature and aluminum content can improve desulfurization. ? Abstract:This paper designs a bubbling type of desulfurization reactor, which simulates flue gas nitrogen and sulfur dioxide according to a certain flow ratio, equipped with absorber through into the bubbling type desulfurization absorb and reactor by iodine volume method, measures import and export of SO2 concentration and pH value of absorber. The desulfurization rate of fly ash slurry is measured in the small drum bubble desulfurization reactor device. Results show that increasing the concentration of fly ash and entrance SO2 concentration, and decreasing particle size of fly ash will increase the desulfurization rate of fly ash slurry. The main mechanisms of fly ash desulfurization are physical adsorption and chemical adsorption.

Abstract:The iron and steel industry is the pillar industry in China.However,it is one of the pollutant sources in our country,especially the emission of SO2 in sintering flue gas.As the by-product of iron-making and steelmaking industry,steel slag can be used in desulfurization reaction from sintering flue gas.That can make less sulfur dioxide emission in the process of sinter,and reduce the environmental pollution.In this article,the dynamic model of the desulfurization reaction from sintering flue gas with steel slag was set up by using the two-film theory and the dynamical process has been analyzed.Sintering flue gas desulphurization with steel slag can be divided into five events:gas-film diffusion,liquid-film diffusion,solid-film diffusion,internal diffusion,chemical reaction process.Analyzed the mass transfer resistance with the process of sintering flue gas desulphurization with steel slag with the Fick law.There are gas-film resistance,liquid-film resistance and solid-film resistance in the whole process.And the main transfer resistance is the gas-film resistance.Experimental results and study show that the reaction rate of process is limited by gas-film résistance.Put forward the kinetic equation with the Fick law and the dynamic model of the process of sintering flue gas desulphurization with steel slag,and the kinetic equation is:rSO2 =KA(g)Rne D/L(CSO2(g)-CSO2(L)/HRT)

Abstract:Coal-fired power plant in China operated in a condition of source of limestone change and volatility, which has a serious influence on continuous and stable operation of the desulfurization device. The desulfurization additives have shown performance improvements on the wet flue gas desulfurization (WFGD) scrubber of a 300 MW full-scale demonstration unit. The experimental results show that the removal efficiency of SO2 was great improved with additive added. The results show that an enhancement in the mass transfer and utilization of limestone in the presence of additive, while the fluctuation of slurry pH was reduced. Moreover, no significant operating problems were observed during trials. Additive had a good adaptability on the change of unit load and concentration of SO2, which can ensure desulfurization system efficiency and long-term stable operation. Additive degraded in the scrubber because of gypsum loss. Research has determined that desulfurization additive, when used as additive to a limestone FGD system, will have a great application in future.

Abstract:The limestone slurry is added with inorganic salt such as Na_2SO_4 and MgSO_4,etc.,and the solubility of CaCO_3 in the slurry is measured.The result shows that Na_2SO_4 and MgSO_4 can both increase the solubility of CaCO_3,and the effect of Na_2SO_4 is better.The sulfuric acid is titrated in the slurry through an advection pump and the dissolution rate of limestone is measured in different slurry.The result shows that the existence of 0.05 mol/L potassium citrate generates citrate acid in the slurry,which can increase the dissolution rate of CaCO_3 and enhance the buffering capacity of the slurry.The simulated flue gas,mainly consisting of N_2 and SO_2 with different proportions(mass concentration of SO_2 is(2 000)～(3 000 mg/m~3),) passes through the slurry with inorganic additives.The influences of the slurry's initial pH,ventilating time and composition of slurry on the adsorption rate of SO_2 are studied.The result shows that the existence of 0.05 mol/L Na_2SO_4 and MgSO_4 can enforce the dissolution of limestone and the adsorption of SO_2,and can also enhance the buffering capacity of the slurry.

Abstract:A new method based on conventional limestone flue gas desulftirization (FGD) has been developed. The main difference compared to the conventional wet FGD is the utilization of granular limestone with acetic acid additives as the absorbent, which should save on the power required for pulverization of limestone and pumping the circulation slurry. This paper focuses on a feasibility study of the new limestone FGD process by comparing SO, removal efficiency, SO2 absorption rate, limestone utilization and FGD system stability of the new FGD with those of the conventional FGD, in the same absorption equipment under the same experimental conditions. The results show that when the coarse limestone slurry (-80+100 mesh, US standard) is used directly as the absorbent, its utilization and SO2 removal efficiency, are very low at 44 and 60.7%, respectively. When the mixed slurry, which is composed of coarse limestone and 10-30 mmol/L acetic acid absorbs SO2, the degree of desulfurization is increased to 95% and the limestone utilization is enhanced to 93.5%. Finally, for the absorbent consisting of a fine limestone slurry (-300 mesh), the desulfurization efficiency and limestone utilization are 88 and 92.9%, respectively, under the same operating conditions. Therefore, the new desulfurization process is shown to be very feasible.
Experimental study on performance of flow ＆ desulfurisation of a gas-liquid screen scrubber for wet flue gas desulfurization

Abstract:In the paper, the gas-liquid two-phase flow performance and desulfurisation performance of the gas-liquid screen scrubber were experimentally studied when limestone was used as absorbent. Experiments were carried out at varying the flue gas velocity and slurry flux in concurrent and countercurrent tower respectively. The experimental results showed that the flow resistance of absorber increased rapidly with an increase of the flue gas velocity whether in concurrent or in countercurrent tower, and the up trend of the flow resistance in the countercurrent tower was higher than those in the concurrent one. The influence of the flue gas velocity on the flow resistance of absorber was more than those of the slurry flux density. Whether in the concurrent tower or in the countercurrent one, increasing the flue gas velocity or the slurry flux density would enhance the desulphurization efficiency. The influence of the slurry flux density on the desulfurisation efficiency was greater than those of the flue gas velocity.

Abstract:By making use of a parallel-flow orderly falling film type of wet process desulfuration device established by the authors,an experimental study has been conducted of limestone/gypsum-based wet flue gas desulfuration process.The test results show that along the flue gas path,the rising trend of the desulfuration rate gradually weakened.When the desulfuration rate is comparatively high,to further raise the desulfuration rate will require an increase of the absorption section height or the liquid-gas ratio by a large margin.When the desulfuration rate of a boiler unit in a thermal power plant is to be determined,a proper choice must be made.The pH value of the desulfuration slurry decreases and there will be a rapid reduction of the pH value of the desulfuration slurry in an area from the inlet of the absorption tower extending to 0.5 m distance followed by a slower pH value reduction.The reduction trend of the limestone content in the slurry should be gradually intensified.In the meantime the concentration of Ca2+,S6+ and S4+ will be all enhanced.The increase of Ca2+ and S6+ concentration will somewhat increase the supersaturation of the gypsum.

Abstract:A flue gas desulfurization method based on the use of a groove-shaped flow-guide core and flue-gas transverse sweep is proposed, which has been studied on a small-size test rig. A qualitative analysis was conducted of the impact of flue gas flow speed, temperature and gas-liquid contact area on flue-gas desulfurization efficiency. The slag formation problem of the test rig is also briefly analyzed and discussed.

Abstract:Carbide slag used as desulfurizer instead of quicklime or white lime is an effective way to reduce the operation cost of dry flue gas desulfurization (DFGD) system. Experiments on dry flue gas desulfurization system of 75 t/h were performed by using carbide slag as desulfurizer. The experiment shows that because of the poor purity and activity, the carbide slag may concrete and block the nozzles when the mass fraction is higher than 15%, which affects the performance of the whole DFGD system. In consideration of both operation cost and desulfurization efficiency, a new kind of desulfurizer mixed with carbide slag and limestone was used. The result indicates that the desulfurization efficiency is about 80% when the mass ratio of carbide slag to limestone is 2:1 and Ca/S mol ratio is 1.3.

Abstract:For the purpose of the gradual decrease of calcium carbonate resources and reduction of carbon emissions in wet flue gas desulfurization process, the utilization process of carbide slag to replace limestone is systematically analyzed. The properties of carbide slag and limestone have been analyzed, and the mass transfer and reaction behaviors in desulfurization process have been calculated and comprehensively evaluated. Desulfurization performances have been also compared through response surface analysis method. The results show that the calcium content and specific surface area of carbide slag are higher than limestone, which is conducive to the dissolution and mass transfer rate. Therefore, carbide slag is suitable for the treatment of flue gas with high SO2 concentration. Desulfurization efficiencies of the two desulfurization agents of carbide slag and limestone under the optimal process are 99.15% and 96.53%, respectively. In conclusion, carbide slag can be used in desulfurization process to replace limestone. The consumption of carbide slag slurry in the desulfurization process is about half of limestone slurry at the same conditions, and the higher desulfurization efficiency of carbide slag is attributed to the higher mass transfer and dissolution rate. Utilization of carbide slag also reduces the carbon emission in desulfurization process and economic cost. The reduction amount of CO2 emission can reach to about 0.76 t /t carbide slag. This work provides a basis for the industrial application and desulfurization efficiency improvement of carbide slag as the desulfurizer.

Abstract:Sulfur dioxide is one of the main environmental pollutants.The sulfur dioxide emission should be limited.Compare with wet FGD,dry FGD has some advantages in the simple process,no sewage,the low energy consumption.The limestone powder will be as desulfurizer in the experiment.Through the analysis of high-sulfur petroleum coke,we get the separation characteristic of sulfur content and analyze the factors on the desulfurization efficiency of the limestone powder.Experimental results show that thin limestone powder could promote the desulfurization efficiency largely.If the grain diameter of limestone powder is less than 0.025mm,the desulfurization efficiency will be more than 84%.

Abstract:At present, the continuous accumulation of the flue gas desulfurization (FGD) gypsum in steel plants leads to the serious environmental issues and resource waste. To achieve green and sustainable development for the steel industry, it is significant to improve the usage of by-product gypsum. Employing the sintering FGD gypsum, ferric oxide, and graphite carbon as raw materials, the effects of the carbon content, reaction time, and molar ratio of CaO to Fe2O3 on the desulfurization rate of gypsum were studied based on the orthogonal experiment. The results show that the order of the three influencing factors on the desulfurization rate of FGD gypsum is: molar ratio of CaO to Fe2O3 > reaction time > carbon content. Under the optimal conditions of 20 wt.% carbon content, 4 h reaction time, and 1:1 molar ratio of CaO to Fe2O3, the desulfurization rate of desulfurization gypsum is 95.79%, and 97.57 wt.% of calcium ferrite appears in the solid product, which can be used as sintering additive to increase the economic benefits of enterprises and realize the green ecological development mode of internal generation and internal digestion of solid waste in iron and steel enterprises.

Abstract:In order to establish the new technology system of low cost , high efficiency and stable characteristics for producing clean steel, technology of converter blowing and using limestone for slagging was researched. Decomposition characteristics of limestone and feasibility of using limestone instead of lime for slagging were analyzed. Experiments were conducted. It is found that adding limestone directly into converter to replace the traditional “burnt lime - slagging and steelmaking” can reduce more than 50 % of the amount of burnt lime , based on that the amount of the burnt lime ranges from 40 to 50 kg of per ton of steel. The technology of using CO2 instead of N2 for converter slag splashing and bottom blowing CO2 for stirring and smelting will achieve good results.

Abstract:Based on the study of RH refining process the law of effects of high CaO slag series on the hot metal desulphurization is explored.Results show that it's definitely possible to refine the clean steel with(S) 0.005% provided that the constituents of the slag series are appropriate.In the meanwhile other factors such as the basicity of the slag series,slagging index and slag quantity will also have great effects on the end-point sulphur content in steel.

Abstract:The advantages and disadvantages of the typical semidry flue gas desulfurization (FGD) processes are analyzed, and a novel semidry FGD process with multifluid alkaline spray generator is first proposed to improve the colliding contact efficiency between sorbent particles and spray water droplets, and to form a large amount of aqueous lime slurry. The experimental results show that the colliding contact efficiency between lime particles and water droplets in the prefix alkaline spray generator may reach about 70%, which is significantly higher than the colliding contact efficiency of 25% in duct sorbent injection. The SO2 removal efficiency can reach 64.5% when the Ca/S molar ratio is 1.5, the approach to the saturation temperature is 10.3 degrees C, and the flue gas residence time is 2.25 s. It is higher than that of in-duct sorbent injection under similar conditions, and the sorbent utilization is improved to 43%. Therefore, the FGD process with a prefix alkaline spray generator can greatly improve SO2 removal efficiency and sorbent utilization and it will be a new, simple and efficient semidry FGD process for industrial application in the future.

Abstract:Natural limestone was adopted as a high-temperature desulfurization sorbent.Tests for removal of H2S with limestone at high temperatures were carried out in a fixed bed reactor.The effects of reaction temperature,gas velocity,particle size and H2 in hot gas on the desulfurization performance were tested.The structure and composition were also studied by thermogravimetry(TG),scanning electron microscopy(SEM) and X-ray diffraction(XRD).It is showed that the particle size has a great influence on desulfurization performance.The limestone of 0.38~0.83 mm has the best desulfurization effect;the temperature has a complicated influence on desulfurization performance,the desulfurization sorbent has the best desulfurization effect at 850℃;gas velocity also has a distinct influence on desulfurization performance,desulfurization breakthrough time becomes longer as the gas velocity decreases;H2 can inhibit the desulfurization process,it is more obvious as the gas velocity decreases.

Abstract:The disposal of the product is a key process in the Wet Flue Gas Desulfuration(WFGD). The slurry jet WFGD system in Nan Ning Smelting Plant adopted the forced oxidizing CaSO 3 on the spot and dewatering by the vacuum filter. The experiment investigated the oxidation rate in the absorbing tank, tested and compared the slurries whose dewatering properties were different.The result showed that residual CaSO 3 affected the slurry dewatering. To improve the quality of the gypsum, enhancing the oxidation in the absorbing tank is a right choice.
