Abstract:The present paper is concerned with problems of the strong uniqueness of the best approximation and the characterization of a uniqueness element in operator spaces. Some results on the strong uniqueness of the best approximation operator from RS-sets are proved and the uniqueness element of a sun in the compact operator space from c(0) to c(0) is characterized by the strict Kolmogorov's condition. Some recent results due to Lewicki and others are extended and improved.

Abstract:In this paper, we construct a class of special Jacobi cocycles, some element of which is a measurable function defined on the high dimensional torus. We prove that no matter the underlying dynamics is the shift or the skew-shift, the non-perturbative positive Lyapunov exponent holds for any irrational frequency, when the coupling number is large. What's more, if the frequency becomes to be the Diophantine number, then the Lyapunov exponent is weak continuity in the energy.

Abstract:Let $E$ be an arbitrary subset of the unit circle $T$ and let $f$ be a function defined on $E$. When there exist polynomials $P_n$ which are uniformly bounded by a number $M > 0$ on $T$ and converge (pointwise) to $f$ at each point of $E$? We give a necessary and sufficient description of such functions $f$. The necessity part of our result, in fact, is a classical theorem of <a class="link-external link-http" href="http://S.Ya" rel="external noopener nofollow">this http URL</a>. Reciprocity obstruction to strong approximation over p-adic function fields

Abstract:Over function fields of p-adic curves, we construct stably rational varieties in the form of homogeneous spaces of SL_n with semisimple simply connected stabilizers and we show that strong approximation away from a non-empty set of places fails for such varieties. The construction combines the Lichtenbaum duality and the degree 3 cohomological invariants of the stabilizers. We then establish a reciprocity obstruction which accounts for this failure of strong approximation. We show that this reciprocity obstruction to strong approximation is the only one for counterexamples we constructed, and also for classifying varieties of tori. We also show that this reciprocity obstruction to strong approximation is compatible with known results for tori. At the end, we explain how a similar point of view shows that the reciprocity obstruction to weak approximation is the only one for classifying varieties of tori over p-adic function fields.

Abstract:In this paper, we study the uniqueness of the differential-difference polynomials of entire functions on $\mathbb{C}^{n}$. We prove the following result: Let $f(z)$ be a transcendental entire function on $\mathbb{C}^{n}$ of hyper-order less than $1$ and $g(z)=b_{-1}+\sum_{i=0}^{n}b_{i}f^{(k_{i})}(z+\eta_{i})$, where $b_{-1}$ and $b_{i} (i=0\ldots,n)$ are small meromorphic functions of $f$ on $\mathbb{C}^{n}$, $k_{i}\geq0 (i=0\ldots,n)$ are integers, and $\eta_{i} (i=0\ldots,n)$ are finite values. Let $a_{1}(z)\not\equiv\infty, a_{2}(z)\not\equiv\infty$ be two distinct small meromorphic functions of $f(z)$ on $\mathbb{C}^{n}$. If $f(z)$ and $g(z)$ share $a_{1}(z)$ CM, and $a_{2}(z)$ IM. Then either $f(z)\equiv g(z)$ or $a_{1}=2a_{2}=2$, $$f(z)\equiv e^{2p}-2e^{p}+2,$$ and $$g(z)\equiv e^{p},$$ where $p(z)$ is a non-constant entire function on $\mathbb{C}^{n}$. Especially, in the case of $g(z)=(\Delta_{\eta}^{n}f(z))^{k}$, we obtain $f(z)\equiv (\Delta_{\eta}^{n}f(z))^{k}$.

On the mixed monotonicity of polynomial functions

Abstract:In this paper, it is shown that every univariate polynomial function is mixed monotone globally with a polynomial decomposition function. The decomposition functions can be constructed from the Gram matrix representation of polynomial functions. The tightness of polynomial decomposition functions is discussed. An example is provided to show that polynomial decomposition functions, in addition to being global decomposition functions, can be much tighter than local decomposition functions constructed using local Jacobian bounds. Furthermore, an example is provided to demonstrate the application to reachable set over-approximation.
