Abstract:In this paper we present a correction of the proof of a strong uniqueness theorem given by H. Strauss[1] in 1992 on approximation by reciprocals of functions of an n-dimensional space span (u1, …, un) satisfying coefficient constraints.

Abstract:The present paper is concerned with problems of the strong uniqueness of the best approximation and the characterization of a uniqueness element in operator spaces. Some results on the strong uniqueness of the best approximation operator from RS-sets are proved and the uniqueness element of a sun in the compact operator space from c(0) to c(0) is characterized by the strict Kolmogorov's condition. Some recent results due to Lewicki and others are extended and improved.

Abstract:In this article, we study the unconditional uniqueness of. (H) over dot(s), 0 < s < 1, solutions for the nonlinear Schrodinger equation i partial derivative(t)u+Delta u+c vertical bar u vertical bar(alpha)u = 0 in R-n. We give a unified proof of the previously known results in the subcritical cases and critical cases, and we also extend these results to some previously unsettled cases. Our proof uses, in particular, negative order Sobolev spaces (or Besov spaces), general nonhomogeneous Strichartz estimates, and the improved regularity property for the difference of two solutions.

Abstract:In this paper, we deal with a uniqueness question of entire functions sharing a nonzero complex number with their difference operators. The results in this paper improve Theorem 1.1 in Liu and Yang (Arch. Math. 92 ( 2009 ), 270–278) and deal with Question 1 in Liu and Yang ( 2009 ), where the entire functions are of finite orders.

Abstract:In this paper, we provide a common generalization to the well-known Erdös–Ko–Rado Theorem, Frankl–Wilson Theorem, Alon–Babai–Suzuki Theorem, and Snevily Theorem on set systems with L -intersections. As a consequence, we derive a result which strengthens substantially the well-known theorem on set systems with k -wise L -intersections by Füredi and Sudakov [ J. Combin. Theory, Ser. A , 105 , 143–159 (2004)]. We will also derive similar results on L -intersecting families of subspaces of an n -dimensional vector space over a finite field F q , where q is a prime power.

Consider the following stochastic partial differential equations in the plane:dX z=α(z, Xz)dMz+β(z, Xz)dAz, z∈R + 2 , Xz=Zz, z∈∂R + 2 , whereR + 2 =[0, +∞)×[0,+∞) and ∂R + 2 is its boundary,Z is a continuous stochastic process on ∂R + 2 . We establish a new theorem on the pathwise uniqueness of solutions for the equation under a weaker condition than the Lipschitz one. The result concerning the one-parameter analogue of the problem we consider here is immediate (see [1, Theorem 3.2]). Unfortunately, the situation is much more complicated for two-parameter process and we believe that our result is the first one of its kind and is interesting in itself. We have proved the existence theorem for the equation in [2].

Abstract:The aim of the paper is to deal with the algebraic dependence and uniqueness problem for meromorphic mappings by using the new second main theorem with different weights involved the truncated counting functions, and some interesting uniqueness results are obtained under more general and weak conditions where the moving hyperplanes in general position are partly shared by mappings from ℂn into ℙN (ℂ), which can be seen as the improvements of previous well-known results.

Abstract:One of the hallmarks in the study of the classification of Banach spaces with a unique (normalized) unconditional basis was the unexpected result by Bourgain, Casazza, Lindenstrauss, and Tzafriri from their 1985 Memoir that the 2-convexified Tsirelson space had that property (up to equivalence and permutation). Indeed, on one hand, finding a "pathological" space (i.e., not built out as a direct sum of the only three classical sequence spaces with a unique unconditional basis) shattered the hopeful optimism of attaining a satisfactory description of all Banach spaces which enjoy that important structural feature. On the other hand it encouraged furthering a research topic that had received relatively little attention until then. After forty years, the advances on the subject have shed light onto the underlying patterns shared by those spaces with a unique unconditional bases belonging to the same class, which has led to reproving the original theorems with fewer technicalities. Our motivation in this note is to revisit the aforementioned result on the uniqueness of unconditional basis of from the current state-of-art of the subject and to fill in some details that we missed from the original proof.

A weak-strong uniqueness principle for the Mullins-Sekerka equation

Abstract:We establish a weak-strong uniqueness principle for the two-phase Mullins-Sekerka equation in the plane: As long as a classical solution to the evolution problem exists, any weak De Giorgi type varifold solution (see for this notion the recent work of Stinson and the second author, Arch. Ration. Mech. Anal. 248, 8, 2024) must coincide with it. In particular, in the absence of geometric singularities such weak solutions do not introduce a mechanism for (unphysical) non-uniqueness. We also derive a stability estimate with respect to changes in the data. Our method is based on the notion of relative entropies for interface evolution problems, a reduction argument to a perturbative graph setting (which is the only step in our argument exploiting in an essential way the planar setting), and a stability analysis in this perturbative regime relying crucially on the gradient flow structure of the Mullins-Sekerka equation.

Abstract:This paper is concerned with uniqueness guarantees of solution in a class of convex regularized linear inverse problems. The existence of a non-degenerate dual certificate was previously known to be sufficient for a generalized version of the null space property to hold, and hence ensures uniqueness of solution. In this paper, we prove that they are actually equivalent under a restricted injectivity condition. By constructing counter-examples, we show that they are sufficient but not necessary for the uniqueness of solution in general cases.
