Abstract:We prove weak uniqueness for admissible solutions of Itô's equations with uniformly nondegenerate $a$ which is almost in VMO and $b$ in a Morrey class of functions with low integrability property. If $b\in L_{d}$ any solution is admissible.

Abstract:Recently Krylov established weak existence of solutions to SDEs for integrable drifts in mixed Lebesgue spaces, whose exponents satisfy the condition $1/q+d/p\leq 1$, thus going below the celebrated Ladyzhenskaya-Prodi-Serrin condition. We present here a variant of such result, whose proof relies on an alternative technique, based on a partial Zvonkin transform; this allows for drifts with growth at infinity and/or in uniformly local Lebesgue spaces.

Weak uniqueness (generally conditional) and a conjecture pertaining to strong solutions are also discussed. Our results are new even if the drift term vanishes.

Abstract:We prove weak uniqueness of mild solutions for general classes of SPDEs on a Hilbert space. The main novelty is that the drift is only defined on a Sobolev-type subspace and no Hölder-continuity assumptions are required. This framework turns out to be effective to achieve novel uniqueness results for several specific examples. Such wide range of applications is obtained by exploiting either coloured or rougher-than-cylindrical noises.

Abstract:In this paper, we study the well-posedness and regularity of non-autonomous stochastic differential algebraic equations (SDAEs) with nonlinear, locally Lipschitz and monotone (2) coefficients of the form (1). The main difficulty is the fact that the operator A(.) is non-autonomous, i.~e. depends on t and the matrix $A(t)$ is singular for all $t\in \left[0,T\right]$. Our interest is in SDAE of index-1. This means that in order to solve the problem, we can transform the initial SDAEs into an ordinary stochastic differential equation with algebraic constraints. Under appropriate hypothesizes, the main result establishes the existence and uniqueness of the solution in $\mathcal{M}^p(\left[0, T\right], \mathbb{R}^n)$, $p\geq 2$, $p\in \mathbb{N}$. Several strong estimations and regularity results are also provided. Note that, in this paper, we use various techniques such as Itô's lemma, Burkholder-Davis-Gundy inequality, and Young inequality.

Abstract:We put forward a new method for proving weak uniqueness of stochastic equations with singular drifts driven by a non-Markov or infinite-dimensional noise. We apply our method to study stochastic heat equation (SHE) driven by Gaussian space-time white noise $$ \frac{\partial}{\partial t} u_t(x)=\frac12 \frac{\partial^2}{\partial x^2}u_t(x)+b(u_t(x))+\dot{W}_{t}(x), \quad t>0,\, x\in D\subset\mathbb{R}, $$ and multidimensional stochastic differential equation (SDE) driven by fractional Brownian motion with the Hurst index $H\in(0,1/2)$ $$ d X_t=b(X_t) dt +d B_t^H,\quad t>0. $$ In both cases $b$ is a generalized function in the Besov space $\mathcal{B}^\alpha_{\infty,\infty}$, $\alpha<0$. Well-known pathwise uniqueness results for these equations do not cover the entire range of the parameter $\alpha$, for which weak existence holds. What happens in the range where weak existence holds but pathwise uniqueness is unknown has been an open problem. We settle this problem and show that for SHE weak uniqueness holds for $\alpha>-3/2$, and for SDE it holds for $\alpha>1/2-1/(2H)$; thus, in both cases, it holds in the entire desired range of values of $\alpha$. This extends seminal results of Catellier and Gubinelli (2016) and Gyöngy and Pardoux (1993) to the weak well-posedness setting. To establish these results, we develop a new strategy, combining ideas from ergodic theory (generalized couplings of Hairer-Mattingly-Kulik-Scheutzow) with stochastic sewing of Lê.

Abstract:We establish a weak-strong uniqueness principle for the two-phase Mullins-Sekerka equation in the plane: As long as a classical solution to the evolution problem exists, any weak De Giorgi type varifold solution (see for this notion the recent work of Stinson and the second author, Arch. Ration. Mech. Anal. 248, 8, 2024) must coincide with it. In particular, in the absence of geometric singularities such weak solutions do not introduce a mechanism for (unphysical) non-uniqueness. We also derive a stability estimate with respect to changes in the data. Our method is based on the notion of relative entropies for interface evolution problems, a reduction argument to a perturbative graph setting (which is the only step in our argument exploiting in an essential way the planar setting), and a stability analysis in this perturbative regime relying crucially on the gradient flow structure of the Mullins-Sekerka equation.

Abstract:New weak and strong existence and weak and strong uniqueness results for multi-dimensional stochastic McKean--Vlasov equations are established under relaxed regularity conditions. Weak existence is a variation of Krylov's weak existence for Itô's SDEs under the nondegeneracy of diffusion and no more than a linear growth in the state variable; this part is designed to fill in the existing gap, as earlier such results for McKean-Vlasov equations were not written. Weak and strong uniqueness is established under the restricted assumption of diffusion depending only on time and the state variable, yet without any regularity of the drift in the state variable and also under a linear growth condition on the drift; this part is based on the analysis of the total variation metric.

Abstract:We show weak existence and uniqueness in law for a general class of stochastic differential equations in $\mathbb{R}^d$, $d\ge 1$, with prescribed sub-invariant measure $\widehat{\mu}$. The dispersion and drift coefficients of the stochastic differential equation are allowed to be degenerate and discontinuous, and locally unbounded, respectively. Uniqueness in law is obtained via $L^1(\mathbb{R}^d,\widehat{\mu})$-uniqueness in a subclass of continuous Markov processes, namely right processes that have $\widehat{\mu}$ as sub-invariant measure and have continuous paths for $\widehat{\mu}$-almost every starting point. Weak existence is obtained for a broader class via the martingale problem.

Abstract:We present a direct approach to existence and uniqueness of strong (in the probabilistic sense) and weak (in the PDE sense) solutions to quasilinear stochastic partial differential equations, which are neither monotone nor locally monotone. The proof of uniqueness is very elementary, based on a new method of applying Itô’s formula for the L1-norm. The proof of existence relies on a recent regularity result and is direct in the sense that it does not rely on the stochastic compactness method.

Abstract: Consider stochastic differential equations (SDEs) in $\Rd$: $dX_t=dW_t+b(t,X_t)\d t$, where $W$ is a Brownian motion, $b(\cdot, \cdot)$ is a measurable vector field. It is known that if $|b|^2(\cdot, \cdot)=|b|^2(\cdot)$ belongs to the Kato class $\K_{d,2}$, then there is a weak solution to the SDE. In this article we show that if $|b|^2$ belongs to the Kato class $\K_{d,\a}$ for some $\a \in (0,2)$ ($\a$ can be arbitrarily close to $2$), then there exists a unique strong solution to the stochastic differential equations, extending the results in the existing literature as demonstrated by examples. Furthermore, we allow the drift to be time-dependent. The new regularity estimates we established for the solutions of parabolic equations with Kato class coefficients play a crucial role.

Abstract:In this paper we study the existence and uniqueness of the strong solution of following d dimensional stochastic differential equation (SDE) driven by Brownian motion: dX(t)=b(t,X(t))dt+a(t,X(t))dB(t), X(0)= x, where B is a d-dimensional standard Brownian motion; the diffusion coefficient a is a Holder continuous and uniformly non-degenerate matrix-valued function and the drift coefficient b may be discontinuous and unbounded, not necessarily in Sobolev space, extending the previous works to discontinuous and unbounded drift coefficient situation. The idea is to combine the Zvonkin transformation with the Lyapunov function approach. To this end, we need to establish a local version of the connection between the solutions of the SDE up to the exit time of a bounded connected open set D and the associated partial differential equation on this domain. As an interesting byproduct, we establish a localized version of the Krylov estimates (Theorem 4.1) and a localized version of the stability result of the stochastic differential equations of discontinuous coefficients (Theorem 4.5).
