Abstract:This thesis is a contribution to the model theory of valued fields. We study forking in valued fields and some of their reducts. We focus particularly on pseudo-local fields, the ultraproducts of residue characteristic zero of the p-adic valued fields. First, we look at the value groups of the valued fields we are interested in, the regular ordered Abelian groups. We establish for these ordered groups a geometric description of forking, as well as a full classification of the global extensions of a given type which are non-forking or invariant. Then, we prove an Ax-Kochen-Ershov principle for forking and dividing in expansions of pure short exact sequences of Abelian structures, as studied by Aschenbrenner-Chernikov-Gehret-Ziegler in their article about distality. This setting applies in particular to the leading-term structure of (expansions of) valued fields. Lastly, we give various sufficient conditions for a parameter set in a Henselian valued field of residue characteristic zero to be an extension base. In particular, we show that forking equals dividing in pseudo-local fields of residue characteristic zero. Additionally, we discuss results by Ealy-Haskell-Simon on forking in separated extensions of Henselian valued fields of residue characteristic zero. We contribute to the question in the setting of Abhyankar extensions, where we show that, with some additional conditions, if a type in a pseudo-local field does not fork, then there exists some global invariant Keisler measure whose support contains that type. This behavior is well-known in pseudo-finite fields.

Abstract:We observe that a simple condition suffices to describes non-forking independence over models in a stable theory. Under mild assumptions, this description can be extended to non-forking independence over algebraically closed subsets, without having to use the full strength of the work of the seminal work of Kim and Pillay. The results in this note (which are surely well-known among most model theorists) essentially use that types over models in a stable theory are stationary.

Abstract:The aim of this article is to study some invariants of associative algebras under stable equivalences of Morita type. First of all, we show that, if two finite-dimensional self-injective k-algebras are stably equivalent of Morita type, then their orbit algebras are isomorphic. Secondly, it is verified that the quasitilted property of an algebra is invariant under stable equivalences of Morita type. As an application of this result, it is obtained that if an algebra is of finite representation type, then its tilted property is invariant under stable equivalences of Morita type; the other application to partial tilting modules is given in Section 4. Finally, we prove that when two finite-dimensional k-algebras are stably equivalent of Morita type, their repetitive algebras are also stably equivalent of Morita type under certain conditions.
Three surprising instances of dividing

Abstract:We give three counterexamples to the folklore claim that in an arbitrary theory, if a complete type $p$ over a set $B$ does not divide over $C\subseteq B$, then no extension of $p$ to a complete type over $\text{acl}(B)$ divides over $C$. Two of our examples are also the first known theories where all sets are extension bases for nonforking, but forking and dividing differ for complete types (answering a question of Adler). One example is an NSOP$_1$ theory with a complete type that forks, but does not divide, over a model (answering a question of d'Elbée). Moreover, dividing independence fails to imply M-independence in this example (which refutes another folklore claim). In addition to these counterexamples, we summarize various related properties of dividing that are still true. We also address consequences for previous literature, including an earlier unpublished result about forking and dividing in free amalgamation theories, and some claims about dividing in the theory of generic $K_{m,n}$-free incidence structures.

Abstract:We prove an arithmetic regularity lemma for stable subsets of finite abelian groups, generalising our previous result for high-dimensional vector spaces over finite fields of prime order. A qualitative version of this generalisation was recently obtained by the first author in joint work with Conant and Pillay, using model-theoretic techniques. In contrast, the approach in the present paper is highly quantitative and relies on several key ingredients from arithmetic combinatorics.

Abstract:Tauchi provides an example illustrating the action of a real algebraic subgroup $H$ of $GL(2n, \mathbb{R})$ with finitely many orbits on $\mathbb{R}^{2n}$, while the dimension of the space of relative $H$-invariant distributions on $\mathbb{R}^{2n}$ is infinite. We offer a perspective on this example from the viewpoint of D-modules, where we explicitly determine the simple quotient regular holonomic D-modules and demonstrate that the distributions exhibit an enlarged symmetry.

Abstract:We prove a structure theorem for stable functions on amenable groups, which extends the arithmetic regularity lemma for stable subsets of finite groups. Given a group $G$, a function $f\colon G\to [-1,1]$ is called stable if the binary function $f(x\cdot y)$ is stable in the sense of continuous logic. Roughly speaking, our main result says that if $G$ is amenable, then any stable function on $G$ is almost constant on all translates of a unitary Bohr neighborhood in $G$ of bounded complexity. The proof uses ingredients from topological dynamics and continuous model theory. We also prove several applications which generalize results in arithmetic combinatorics to nonabelian groups.

Isotypical equivalence of periodic Abelian groups

Abstract:In this paper we give invariants that characterize isotypically equivalent Abelian periodic groups. Also, we describe types of standart tuples of elements in these groups. As the particular case we prove that two Abelian $p$-groups with separable reduced parts are isotypically equivalent if and only if their divisible parts and their basic subgroups are elementarily equivalent. Also as a corollary we prove that any Abelian $p$-group with a separable reduced part is $\omega$-strongly homogeneous.

Abstract:We introduce enumerative invariants $F_{g,n}$ $(g\geq0$, $n \geq 1)$ associated to a cyclic $A_\infty$ algebra and a splitting of its non-commutative Hodge filtration. In the remaining part, the results carried out earlier are put to work to delineate the structure of a simple Artinian ring R with involution f, which is equipped with a given non central submonoid M (= multiplicatively closed subset containing 1) preserved under f and under all inner automorphisms of R, and M is such that the skew traces of all elements of M form a commutative subset.

Abstract:We describe the -invariant of a semisimple algebraic group over a generic splitting field of a Tits algebra of in terms of the -invariant over the base field. As a consequence we prove a 10-year-old conjecture of Quéguiner-Mathieu, Semenov, and Zainoulline on the -invariant of groups of type . In the case of type we also provide explicit formulas for the first component and in some cases for the second component of the -invariant.

Abstract:Let $A$ be a finite dimensional associative $\mathbb{K}$-algebra over an algebraically closed field $\mathbb{K}$ of characteristic zero. To $A$, we can associate its basic form that is given by a quiver $Q = (Q_0, Q_1)$ with an admissible ideal $R$. For a dimension vector $\beta$, we consider an irreducible component $\mathcal{C}$ of the module variety of $\beta$-dimensional representations of $A$. The reductive group ${\rm GL}_\beta(\mathbb{K}):= \prod_{i \in Q_0}{\rm GL}_{\beta_i}(\mathbb{K})$ acts on $\mathcal{C}$ by change of basis, and has a unique closed orbit. We consider the corresponding ring of semi-invariants ${\rm SI}(Q, \mathcal{C})$. We prove that if $\mathcal{C}$ is factorial and has maximal orbits of codimension one, then ${\rm SI}(Q, \mathcal{C})$ is a complete intersection and is not multiplicity free. If $\mathcal{C}$ is not factorial, then this conclusion does not necessarily hold. We present examples showing that the codimension of the complete intersection can be arbitrarily large. Finally, we interpret our results in the case of hereditary algebras.

Invariable generation of certain branch groups

Abstract:We investigate invariable generation among key examples of branch groups. In particular, we prove that all generating sets of the torsion Grigorchuk groups, of the branch Grigorchuk-Gupta-Sidki groups and of the torsion multi-EGS groups (which are natural generalisations of the Grigorchuk-Gupta-Sidki groups) are invariable generating sets. Furthermore, for the first Grigorchuk group and the torsion Grigorchuk-Gupta-Sidki groups, every finitely generated subgroup has a finite invariable generating set. We also show that a branch Grigorchuk-Gupta-Sidki group is almost $\frac32$-generated, that the diameter of its generating subgraph $\Delta(G)$ is 2 and its total domination number is 2. Some of our results apply to groups for which every maximal subgroup is normal. This class, known as $\mathcal{MN}$, includes all nilpotent groups.
