Abstract:We present a general approach to obtain a weak Harnack inequality for rough hypoellipitic equations, e.g. kinetic equations. The proof is constructive and does not study the commutator structure but rather compares the rough solution with a smooth problem for which the estimates are assumed.

Abstract:We prove the Aleksandrov--Bakelman--Pucci estimate for non-uniformly elliptic equations in non-divergence form. Moreover, we investigate local behaviors of solutions of such equations by developing local boundedness and weak Harnack inequality. Here we impose an integrability assumption on ellipticity representing degeneracy or singularity, instead of specifying the particular structure of ellipticity.

Abstract:We present a new method to determine the optimal regularity of positive solutions u ∈ C 4 (Ω\{0}) ∩ C 0 (Ω̄ ) of the Hénon-Hardy equation, i.e., (0.1) where Ω ⊂ R N ( N ⩾ 4) is a bounded smooth domain with 0 ∈ Ω, α > −4, and p ∈ R. It is clear that 0 is an isolated singular point of solutions of (0.1) and the optimal regularity of u in Ω relies on the parameter α. It is also important to see that the regularity of u at x = 0 determines the regularity of u in Ω. We first establish asymptotic expansions up to arbitrary orders at x = 0 of prescribed positive solutions u ∈ C 4 (Ω\{0}) ∩ C 0 (Ω̄ ) of (0.1). Then we show that the regularity at x = 0 of each positive solution u of (0.1) can be determined by some terms in asymptotic expansions of the related positive radial solution of the equation (0.1) with Ω = B , where B is the unit ball of R N . The main idea works for more general equations with singular weights.

Abstract:We extend the De Giorgi--Nash--Moser theory to a class of kinetic Fokker-Planck equations and deduce new results on the Landau-Coulomb equation. More precisely, we first study the H{ö}lder regularity and establish a Harnack inequality for solutions to a general linear equation of Fokker-Planck type whose coefficients are merely measurable and essentially bounded, i.e. assuming no regularity on the coefficients in order to later derive results for non-linear problems. This general equation has the formal structure of the hypoelliptic equations "of type II" , sometimes also called ultraparabolic equations of Kolmogorov type, but with rough coefficients: it combines a first-order skew-symmetric operator with a second-order elliptic operator involving derivatives along only part of the coordinates and with rough coefficients. These general results are then applied to the non-negative essentially bounded weak solutions of the Landau equation with inverse-power law $\gamma$ $\in$ [--d, 1] whose mass, energy and entropy density are bounded and mass is bounded away from 0, and we deduce the H{ö}lder regularity of these solutions.

Abstract:The aim of this paper is to establish regularity for weak solutions to the nondiagonal quasilinear degenerate elliptic systems related to Hörmander's vector fields, where the coefficients are bounded with vanishing mean oscillation. We first prove $L^p$($p \ge 2$) estimates for gradients of weak solutions by using a priori estimates and a known reverse Hölder inequality, and consider regularity to the corresponding nondiagonal homogeneous degenerate elliptic systems. Then we get higher Morrey and Campanato estimates for gradients of weak solutions to original systems and Hölder estimates for weak solutions.

Abstract:We study weak solutions and minimizers $u$ of the non-autonomous problems $\operatorname{div} A(x, Du)=0$ and $\min_v \int_\Omega F(x,Dv)\,dx$ with quasi-isotropic $(p, q)$-growth. We consider the case that $u$ is bounded, Hölder continuous or lies in a Lebesgue space and establish a sharp connection between assumptions on $A$ or $F$ and the corresponding norm of $u$. We prove a Sobolev--Poincaré inequality, higher integrability and the Hölder continuity of $u$ and $Du$. Our proofs are optimized and streamlined versions of earlier research that can more readily be further extended to other settings. Connections between assumptions on $A$ or $F$ and assumptions on $u$ are known for the double phase energy $F(x, \xi)=|\xi|^p + a(x)|\xi|^q$. We obtain slightly better results even in this special case. Furthermore, we also cover perturbed variable exponent, Orlicz variable exponent, degenerate double phase, Orlicz double phase, triple phase, double variable exponent as well as variable exponent double phase energies and the results are new in most of these special cases.

Abstract:We revisit the classical theory of linear second-order uniformly elliptic equations in divergence form whose solutions have Hölder continuous gradients, and prove versions of the generalized maximum principle, the $C^{1,\alpha}$-estimate, the Hopf-Oleinik lemma, the boundary weak Harnack inequality and the differential Harnack inequality, in which the constant is optimized with respect to the norms of the coefficients of the operator and the size of the domain. Our estimates are complemented by counterexamples which show their optimality. We also give applications to the Landis conjecture and spectral estimates.

Abstract:This article provides quantitative proofs of the results obtained in [Cabré, Figalli, Ros-Oton, and Serra, Acta Math. 224 (2020)], a work that proved the Hölder regularity of stable solutions to semilinear elliptic equations in the optimal range of dimensions $n\leq 9$. Some results in that paper were established through compactness proofs, arguing by contradiction -- the boundary regularity arguments being specially delicate. Here we provide proofs that do not rely on compactness and, in particular, allow to quantify the Hölder regularity exponent. For this, we use two new estimates from [Cabré, <a class="link-https" data-arxiv-id="2211.13033" href="https://arxiv.org/abs/2211.13033">arXiv:2211.13033</a>] which control the solution in $L^1$ by the $L^1$ norm of its radial derivative. For expository purposes, we provide self-contained proofs of the full Hölder regularity results. They only involve basic Analysis tools.

Abstract:In this article we prove results concerning upper and lower decay estimates for homogeneous Sobolev norms of solutions to a rather general family of parabolic equations. Following the ideas of Kreiss, Hagstrom, Lorenz and Zingano, we use eventual regularity of solutions to directly work with smooth solutions in physical space, bootstrapping decay estimates from the $L^2$ norm to higher order derivatives. Besides obtaining upper and lower bounds through this method, we also obtain reverse results: from higher order derivatives decay estimates, we deduce bounds for the $L^2$ norm. We use these general results to prove new decay estimates for some equations and to recover some well known results.
