Abstract:We establish the existence of solutions to path-dependent rough differential equations with non-anticipative coefficients. Regularity assumptions on the coefficients are formulated in terms of horizontal and vertical derivatives.

Abstract:We consider rough differential equations whose coefficients contain path-dependent bounded variation terms and prove the existence and a priori estimate of solutions. These equations include classical path-dependent stochastic differential equations containing running maximum processes and normal reflection terms. We apply these results to determine the topological support of the solution processes.

Abstract:The existence of unique solutions is established for rough differential equations (RDEs) with path-dependent coefficients and driven by càdlàg rough paths. Moreover, it is shown that the associated solution map, also known as Itô-Lyons map, is locally Lipschitz continuous. These results are then applied to various classes of rough differential equations, such as controlled RDEs and RDEs with delay, as well as stochastic differential equations with delay. To that end, a joint rough path is constructed for a càdlàg martingale and its delayed version, that corresponds to stochastic Itô integration.

Lyons sense (Rev Mat Iberoamer. 1998;14(2)215–310), depending on a small parameter and with a negative long-range random coefficient. We establish sufficient conditions under which the solution of this ordinary differential equation converges to the solution of a stochastic differential equation driven by a fractional Brownian motion with Hurst parameter , depends on the asymptotic behavior of the covariance function of the random coefficient.

Abstract:We discuss regular and weak solutions to rough partial differential equations (RPDEs), thereby providing a (rough path-)wise view on important classes of SPDEs. In contrast to many previous works on RPDEs, our definition gives honest meaning to RPDEs as integral equation, based on which we are able to obtain existence, uniqueness and stability results. The case of weak "rough" forward equations, may be seen as robustification of the (measure-valued) Zakai equation in the rough path sense. Feynman-Kac representation for RPDEs, in formal analogy to similar classical results in SPDE theory, play an important role.

Abstract:We consider the rough differential equation with drift driven by a Gaussian geometric rough path. Under natural conditions on the rough path, namely non-determinism, and uniform ellipticity conditions on the diffusion coefficient, we prove path-by-path well-posedness of the equation for poorly regular drifts. In the case of the fractional Brownian motion $B^H$ for $H>\frac14$, we prove that the drift may be taken to be $\kappa>0$ Hölder continuous and bounded for $\kappa>\frac32 - \frac1{2H}$. A flow transform of the equation and Malliavin calculus for Gaussian rough paths are used to achieve such a result.

Abstract:Small noise problems are quite important for all types of stochastic differential equations. In this paper we focus on rough differential equations driven by scaled fractional Brownian rough path with Hurst parameter H between 1/4 and 1/2. We prove a moderate deviation principle for this equation as the scale parameter tends to zero.

Abstract:In the article, the rough path theory is extended to cover paths from the exponential Besov-Orlicz space \[B^\alpha_{\Phi_\beta,q}\quad\mbox{ for }\quad \alpha\in (1/3,1/2],\,\quad \Phi_\beta(x) \sim \mathrm{e}^{x^\beta}-1\quad\mbox{with}\quad \beta\in (0,\infty), \quad\mbox{and}\quad q\in (0,\infty],\] and the extension is used to treat nonlinear differential equations driven by such paths. The exponential Besov-Orlicz-type spaces, rough paths, and controlled rough paths are defined and analyzed, a sewing lemma for such paths is given, and the existence and uniqueness of the solution to differential equations driven by these paths is proved. The results cover equations driven by paths of continuous local martingales with Lipschitz continuous quadratic variation (e.g.\ the Wiener process) or by paths of fractionally filtered Hermite processes in the $n$\textsuperscript{th} Wiener chaos with Hurst parameter $H\in (1/3,1/2]$ (e.g.\ the fractional Brownian motion).

Abstract:We prove existence and uniqueness of the solution of a one-dimensional rough differential equation driven by a step-2 rough path and reflected at zero. Abstract:A theory of differential equations driven by a non-differentiable path has recently been developed by Lyons. We develop an alternative approach to this theory, using (modified Euler approximations), and investigate its applicability to stochastic differential equations driven by Brownian motion. We also give some other examples showing that the main results are reasonably sharp.

Abstract:The theory of rough paths arose from a desire to establish continuity properties of ordinary differential equations involving terms of low regularity. While essentially an analytic theory, its main motivation and applications are in stochastic analysis, where it has given a new perspective on Itô calculus and a meaning to stochastic differential equations driven by irregular paths outside the setting of semi-martingales. In this survey, we present some of the main ideas that enter rough path theory. We discuss complementary notions of solutions for rough differential equations and the related notion of path signature, and give several applications and generalisations of the theory.

Abstract:In the setting of stochastic Volterra equations, and in particular rough volatility models, we show that conditional expectations are the unique classical solutions to path-dependent PDEs. The latter arise from the functional Itô formula developed by [Viens, F., & Zhang, J. (2019). A martingale approach for fractional Brownian motions and related path dependent PDEs. Ann. Appl. Probab.]. We then leverage these tools to study weak rates of convergence for discretised stochastic integrals of smooth functions of a Riemann-Liouville fractional Brownian motion with Hurst parameter $H \in (0,1/2)$. These integrals approximate log-stock prices in rough volatility models. We obtain weak error rates of order 1 if the test function is quadratic and of order $H+1/2$ for smooth test functions.

Abstract:This paper introduces the path derivatives, in the spirit of Dupire's functional Itô calculus, for the controlled paths in the rough path theory with possibly non-geometric rough paths. The theory allows us to deal with rough integration and rough PDEs in the same manner as standard stochastic calculus. We next study rough PDEs with coefficients depending on the rough path itself, which corresponds to stochastic PDEs with random coefficients. Such coefficients is less regular in the time variable and is not covered in the existing literature. The results are useful for studying viscosity solutions of stochastic PDEs.

On the regularity of solutions of some linear parabolic path-dependent PDEs

Abstract:We study a class of linear parabolic path-dependent PDEs (PPDEs) defined on the space of càdlàg paths $x \in D([0,T])$, in which the coefficient functions at time $t$ depend on $x(t)$ and $\int_{0}^{t}x(s)dA_{s}$, for some (deterministic) continuous function $A$ with bounded variations. Under uniform ellipticity and Hölder regularity conditions on the coefficients, together with some technical conditions on $A$, we obtain the existence of a smooth solution to the PPDE by appealing to the notion of Dupire's derivatives. It provides a generalization to the existing literature studying the case where $A_t = t$, and complements our recent work, Bouchard and Tan (2021), on the regularity of approximate viscosity solutions for parabolic PPDEs. As a by-product, we also obtain existence and uniqueness of weak solutions for a class of path-dependent SDEs.

Abstract:The convergence of the first order Euler scheme and an approximative variant thereof, along with convergence rates, are established for rough differential equations driven by càdlàg paths satisfying a suitable criterion, namely the so-called Property (RIE), along time discretizations with vanishing mesh size. This property is then verified for almost all sample paths of Brownian motion, Itô processes, Lévy processes and general càdlàg semimartingales, as well as the driving signals of both mixed and rough stochastic differential equations, relative to various time discretizations. Consequently, we obtain pathwise convergence in p-variation of the Euler--Maruyama scheme for stochastic differential equations driven by these processes.

Existence and uniqueness of the mild solution are given through the stochastic controlled rough path approach and fixed-point argument. As a technical tool to define rough stochastic convolutions, we also develop a general mild stochastic sewing lemma, which is applicable for processes according to a monotone family.
