Abstract:We consider a gradient flow generated by a complex Hessian functional which is defined on compact Kahler manifolds. By setting up the a priori estimates of the admissible solutions, we prove the long-time existence of the solution to the flow and its convergence. Thus we show the functional admits a local minimal point in the space of admissible functions. As its application, we show the solvability of a class of complex Hessian equations.

Abstract:In this paper we study the regularity and singularity of the mean curvature flow of closed, smooth, embedded hypersurfaces in the Euclidean space with positive mean curvature, with an attempt to understand the geometry of first time singularities. First we consider the mean curvature flow of graphs and convex hypersurfaces. Then we consider the special blow-up solutions at the maximal mean curvature points and obtain self-similar solutions at type I singularities and translating solutions at type II singularities. Finally we show that a general blow-up sequence converges along a subsequence to a convex limit flow, and give a classification of ancient convex solutions. 2000 Mathematics Subject Classification: 53C44, 53A10, 35J60.

Abstract:We treat two quite different problems related to changes of complex structures on Kähler manifolds by using global geometric method. First, by using operators from Hodge theory on compact Kähler manifold, we present a closed explicit extension formula for holomorphic canonical forms in different complex structures. As applications, we give a closed explicit formula for certain canonical sections of Hodge bundles on marked and polarized moduli spaces of projective manifolds, and provide a closed explicit extension formula for holomorphic pluricanonical forms under certain natural conditions. Second, by using the operators in L^2-Hodge theory on Poincaré disk, we present a simple and unified method to solve the Beltrami equations with measurable coefficients for quasi-conformal maps.

Abstract:The existence of smooth solutions to a broad class of complex Hessian equations is related to nonlinear Nakai type criteria on intersection numbers on Kahler manifolds. Such a Nakai criteria can be interpreted as a slope stability condition analogous to the slope stability for Hermitian vector bundles over Kahler manifolds. In the present work, we initiate a program to find canonical solutions to such equations in the unstable case when the Nakai criteria fails. Conjecturally such solutions should arise as limits of natural parabolic flows and should be minimisers of the corresponding moment-map energy functionals. We implement our approach for the J-equation and the deformed Hermitian Yang-Mills equation on surfaces and some examples with symmetry. We prove that there always exist unique canonical solutions to these two equations on Kahler surfaces in the unstable cases. Such canonical solutions with singularities are also shown to be the limits of the corresponding J-flow and the cotangent flow on certain projective bundles. We further present the bubbling phenomena for the J-equation by constructing minimizing sequences of the moment-map energy functionals, whose Gromov-Hausdorff limits are singular algebraic spaces.

Abstract: Let $u$ be a smooth, strictly $k$-plurisubharmonic function on a bounded domain $\Omega\in\mathbb C^n$ with $2\leq k\leq n$. The purpose of this paper is to study the regularity of solution to the linearized complex Monge-Amp\`ere and Hessian equations when the complex $k$-Hessian $H_k[u]$ of $u$ is bounded from above and below. We first establish some estimates of Green's functions associated to the linearized equations. Then we prove a class of new Sobolev inequalities. With these inequalities, we use Moser's iteration to investigate the a priori estimates of Hessian equations and their linearized equations, as well as the K\"ahler scalar curvature equation. In particular, we obtain the Harnack inequality for the linearized complex Monge-Amp\`ere and Hessian equations under an extra integrability condition on the coefficients. The approach works in both real and complex case.

Abstract:In this paper, we prove that any C 1 -regular Hamiltonian stationary Lagrangian submanifold in a symplectic manifold is smooth. More broadly, we develop a regularity theory for a class of fourth order nonlinear elliptic equations with two distributional derivatives. Our fourth order regularity theory originates in the geometrically motivated variational problem for the volume functional, but should have applications beyond.

Abstract:In this paper, for the small initial data in the suitably weighted Sobolev spaces on the product space R2 xT, we establish the global existence of smooth solutions to the 3-D quasilinear Klein-Gordon equations with quadratic nonlinearities. It is noted that the topic on the well-posedness of the nonlinear hyperbolic equations on product spaces arises from the studies for the propa-gation of waves along infinite homogeneous waveguides and the Kaluza-Klein theory. Our main result is based on the method of normal form including the parameters n is an element of Z and the continuous induction method. In addition, the free profile of the solution is obtained by applying the weighted energy estimates and the temporal decay estimates.

Abstract:We prove the existence of viscosity solutions to complex Hessian equations on a compact Hermitian manifold that satisfy a determinant domination condition. This viscosity solution is shown to be unique when the right hand is strictly monotone increasing in terms of the solution. When the right hand side does not depend on the solution, we reduces it to the strict monotonicity of the solvability constant.

Abstract:We extend the methods of Lewicka - Pakzad, Székelyhidi - Cao and Li - Qiu to study the notion of very weak solutions to the complex $\sigma_2$ equation in domains in $\mathbb C^n,\ n\geq 2$. As a by-product we sharpen the regularity threshold of the counterexamples obtained by Li and Qiu in the real case.

Abstract:Given a compact Riemannian manifold M and an open interval I in R, we consider a warped product manifold . For a positive function f defined on , we obtain the existence of the ( η , k )-convex hypersurface Σ which satisfies a Hessian quotient equation for 0 ⩽ l < k < n , and η = Hg − h , the first Newton transformation of the second fundamental form h . This generalizes the result of Chen et al. (2020) and gives a simpler proof of the curvature estimate. As a corollary, we can get an ( η , k )-convex solution for in R n +1 for some prescribed function h , which can be viewed as the prescribed curvature measure type problem.

Abstract:In this paper we show that there exists a unique local smooth solution for the Cauchy problem of the Schrodinger flow for maps from a compact Riemannian manifold into a complete Kahler manifold, or from a Euclidean space Rm into a compact Kahler manifold. As a consequence, we prove that Heisenberg spin system is locally well-posed in the appropriate Sobolev spaces.

Abstract:In the category of metrics with conical singularities along a smooth divisor with angle in (0, 2 pi), we show that locally defined weak solutions (C-1,C-1 solutions) to the Kahler-Einstein equations actually possess maximum regularity, which means the metrics arc actually Wilder continuous in the singular polar coordinates. This shows the weak Kahler-Einstein metrics constructed by Guenancia-Paun, and independently by Yao, are all actually strong-conical Kahler-Einstein metrics. The key step is to establish a Liouville-type theorem for weak-conical Kahler-Ricci flat metrics defined over C-n, which depends on a Calderon-Zygmund theory in the conical setting. The regularity of globally defined weak-conical Kahler-Einstein metrics is already proved by Guenancia-Paun using a different method.

Abstract:We establish a necessary and sufficient condition for solving a general class of fully nonlinear elliptic equations on closed Riemannian or hermitian manifolds, including both hessian and hessian quotient equations. It settles an open problem of Li and Urbas. Such a condition is based on an analytic slope invariant analogous to the slope stability and the Nakai-Moishezon criterion in complex geometry. As an application, we solve the non-constant $J$-equation on both hermitian manifolds and singular Kähler spaces.
