Abstract:The aim of this study is to characterize the in-plane anisotropic plasticity behavior of a rolled 316L ultra-thin sheet stainless steel. A phenomenological anisotropic Yld2004-18p yield function is used to model the anisotropic plasticity deformation of the material. Miniature uniaxial specimens made of a 0.1-mm-thick 316L sheet were used to determine the tensile behavior, which were removed from the ultra-thin sheet at intervals of 15°. Digital image correlation is used to calibrate the strain data. Based on the test data, 18 anisotropic parameters were identified for the anisotropic model. To demonstrate the capability of the anisotropic constitutive model for the 316L ultra-thin sheet, finite element (FE) simulation was carried out to study the micro-deep drawing. The micro-deep-drawn cup from the FE simulation has shown four ears deformation mode due to the plasticity anisotropy. This study has identified the effect of plastic strain ratio on ears formation in the micro-deep drawing of rolled 316L thin sheet and concluded that ear profile formation is controlled by the ratio of sheet radius to cylindrical member radius.
