Abstract:The reported data for average grain size g and average domain width w are incorrect in the previously published version. They should be multiplied by a factor of 2. The abstract should therefore be corrected to read as: "... at around 480 nm with the decrease in the grain size from 19 to 4.0 μm." The text on page 3, right column, should read as: line 7: "its g value is 19 μm" line 10: "at g=7 μm" line 20: "at around 480 nm" \noindent line 48: "g values ranging from 19 to 4.0 μm" and on page 4, right column, should read as: line 1: "g ≥ 7 μm" and "g < 7 μm". The bar scales in the previously published figure 2 are corrected by a factor of 2. The horizontal scale of average grain size g and the right-hand scale of average domain width w in the previously published figure 3 are both corrected by a factor of 2. These corrections affect no other part of the article. Corrected versions of figures 2 and 3 are included in the associated PDF file.

Abstract:Good ferroelectric properties have previously been reported for both the (1−x)SrBi2Ti2O9–xBi3TiNbO9 bulk ceramics and thin films. In this work, x-ray diffraction and Raman scattering were used to investigate the effect of the incorporation of Bi3TiNbO9 into SrBi2Ta2O9 bulk ceramics and thin films. A better crystallization, larger grain size and larger displacement of the Ta–O(4) or Ta–O(5) ions are the origin for the good ferroelectric properties of (1−x)SrBi2Ta2O9–xBi3TiNbO9 with x=0.3–0.4.

Abstract:A comparison of phases and the microstructures of textured Sr0.4Ba0.6Nb2O6 ceramics without and with V2O5 addition was carried out using transmission and analytical electron microscopy. The dopant was not found in Sr0.4Ba0.6Nb2O6 grains but in the inter-granular regions, including both grain boundary and second phase. Grain boundaries in the sample without V2O5 are clean, but those in the V2O5-doped sample exhibit a variety of structures, with and without an amorphous film of variable thickness. In general the vanadium excess follows the same trend of film width, while the Sr excess is generally negative and the Ba excess is positive, suggesting that the amorphous films at grain boundaries are rich in V and Ba and deficient in Nb and Sr. The second phase was determined as Ba3V4O13 phase containing small amounts of Sr and Nb. Such V- and Ba-rich inter-granular liquids promoted the densification and texturing, and affected the dielectric constant at low frequency but not the Curie temperature.

Abstract:Vanadium incorporation in SrBi4Ti4O15 results in an improvement of electric properties. Raman scattering reveals that V-addition brings about the local disorders of structure, charge, and internal stress. The chemical valence of Bi and Ti does not increase after V-doping. The electric property improvement is originated from the restraint of oxygen vacancies, mobility weakening of the defects, and the vacancies produced at A-site.

Abstract:The acicular Sr0.39Ba0.48K0.32Nb2O6 single crystal particles were first prepared by the reaction of SrCO3, BaCO3 and Nb2O5 in molten K2SO4 at 1300°C for 3h. By using these single crystal particles as seeds and V2O5 as additives, textured Sr0.4Ba0.6Nb2O6 (SBN40) ceramics were obtained. The effect of V2O5 on sintering behaviour, microstructure and dielectric properties of textured SBN40 ceramics was investigated. The experimental results show that the addition of V2O5 can accelerate the densification rate of the material and encourage the texture of SBN40 ceramics, which further improves the anisotropy in dielectric properties between different directions of textured SBN40 ceramics.
