Abstract:Brachial plexus block by injecting local anesthetic is highly beneficial and practical for surgical anesthesia and postoperative pain management of distal arm surgeries. [ 1–3 ] For instance, distal radial fracture fixation is commonly performed in the orthopedic department, and leads to moderate to severe pain. [ 4–8 ] Poor control of postoperative pain negatively affects rehabilitation, delays recovery, and produces adverse outcomes. [ 9 , 10 ] Ultrasound-guided brachial plexus blocks are typically administered at the supraclavicular and infraclavicular approaches. Their analgesic efficacy was compared in several previous studies, with a wide range of outcome variables. [ 11–14 ]
