Abstract:In a recent Comment, Kolf et al. (cond-mat/0503669) state that our analysis of the Fano resonance for Anderson impurity systems [Luo et al., Phys. Rev. Lett 92, 256602 (2004)] is incorrect. Here we want to point out that their comments are not based on firm physical results and their criticisms are unjustified and invalid.

Abstract:In their comment <a class="link-https" data-arxiv-id="cond-mat/9710285" href="https://arxiv.org/abs/cond-mat/9710285">cond-mat/9710285</a> [Phys. Rev. Lett. 80, 5024 (1998)] den Hartog and van Wees (HW) raise objections against our analysis of the experimental data presented in <a class="link-https" data-arxiv-id="cond-mat/9708162" href="https://arxiv.org/abs/cond-mat/9708162">cond-mat/9708162</a> [Phys. Rev. Lett. 79, 1547 (1997)]. According to HW, we did not account for the quantum phase incoherence introduced by the Niobium compounds of the investigated Nb/Au hybrid samples. Here we show that and why this criticism is not justified. Some difficulties associated with a precise determination of the coherence lengths are discussed. It is discussed why these uncertainties do not have a qualitative impact on the results reported in our paper.

Abstract:In a series of papers, we have proposed a non-perturbative field-theoretic approach to deal with strong electron-phonon and strong Coulomb interactions. The key ingredient of such an approach is to determine the full fermion-boson vertex corrections by solving a number of self-consistent Ward-Takahashi identities. Palle (see Phys. Rev. B 110, 026501 (2024), <a class="link-https" data-arxiv-id="2404.02918" href="https://arxiv.org/abs/2404.02918">arXiv:2404.02918</a>) argued that our Ward-Takahashi identities failed to include some important additional terms and thus are incorrect. We agree that our Ward-Takahashi identities have ignored some potentially important contributions and here give some remarks on the role played by the additional terms.

Abstract:The so-called hydrodynamic (HD) model on optical-phonon modes in superlattices is critically examined. Contrary to the HD model, a comparison between TM polaritons and the Fuchs-Kliewer-type interface modes has shown that the Fuchs-Kliewer interface modes do possess Frohlich potentials.

Abstract:A reply is made to Comment by <a class="link-external link-http" href="http://D.P.Sheehan" rel="external noopener nofollow">this http URL</a> in which he takes notice that the quantum force introduced in my earlier paper <a class="link-external link-http" href="http://A.V.Nikulov" rel="external noopener nofollow">this http URL</a>, Phys. Rev. B 64, 012505 (2001) challenges to the absolute status of the second law of thermodynamics. It is shown that the introduction of the quantum force explains only an experimental challenge to the second law. The observation of the persistent current at non-zero resistance R > 0 is experimental evidence of violation of the postulate saving the second law in the beginning of the 20 century. According to this postulate any Brownian motion is absolutely random whereas the persistent current at R > 0 is a regulated Brownian motion.

Abstract:We have reviewed the Comment of Geyer et al. [<a class="link-https" data-arxiv-id="0708.1548" href="https://arxiv.org/abs/0708.1548">arXiv:0708.1548</a>] concerning our recent work [Phys. Rev. A 75, 060102 (R) (2007)], and while we disagree with their criticisms, we acknowledge them for giving us the opportunity to add interesting addition material and a more detailed description of our experiment. We describe further our calculation and explain why a more sophisticated model is not warranted. We also present detailed experiments on the effects of electrostatic forces in our measurements and show that the contribution due to work function differences is small and that the residual electrostatic force is dominated by trapped charges and external fields. Finally, we estimate the effect of double layer interactions. These additional calculations and measurements support our original conclusion that the experimental results are consistent with the Lifshitz theory.

Abstract:A recent comment on our work (Phys. Rev. Lett., vol. 110, 016601 (2013)) by <a class="link-external link-http" href="http://A.A.Aligia" rel="external noopener nofollow">this http URL</a> claims that we "made mistakes in the evaluation of the lesser quantities". It is further claimed that the distribution function of the single-particle selfenergy of the interacting region in the Fermi liquid regime, e.g. at small bias voltage, low temperature, and small frequency, is continuous. These claims are based on a comparison of the particle-hole symmetric case with results obtained from the approach of <a class="link-external link-http" href="http://A.A.Aligia" rel="external noopener nofollow">this http URL</a>. We disagree with these claims and show that the discrepancies that the comment alludes to originate from a violation of Ward identities by the method employed in the comment. A comparison of our approach with the numerical renormalization group shows perfect agreement for the symmetric case.

Abstract:In a recent comment by A.A. Zvyagin to our Letter [Phys. Rev. Lett. 89, 47202 (2002)] it was pointed out that the bosonization treatment of the antiferromagnetic Heisenberg chain is only valid in the low temperature and long length limit. We support this statement and quantify the limits of validity by explicitly showing the crossover to the high temperature and/or short length limit using a combination of bosonization formulas and numerical results.

Abstract:Standard field theoretic formulations of composite fermion theories for the anomalous metals that form at or near even-denominator filling fractions of the lowest Landau level do not possess Galilei invariance. To restore Galilei symmetry, these theories must be supplemented by "correction" terms. We study the effect of the leading "correction" term, known as the dipole term, in the Dirac composite fermion theory (a theory that consists of a Dirac fermion coupled to an Abelian Chern-Simons gauge field) on quantum oscillations in the electrical resistivity due to a periodic scalar potential about even-denominator filling fractions. We find the dipole term to be insufficient to resolve the systematic discrepancy, discovered in [Kamburov et. al., Phys. Rev. Lett. 113, 196801 (2014)], between the locations of the oscillation minima predicted by Dirac composite fermion theory without Galilei invariance and those observed in experiment. Further, in contrast to [Hossain et al., Phys. Rev. B 100, 041112 (2019)], we find the quantum oscillations about the half-filled and quarter-filled lowest Landau level to have qualitatively similar behavior. This analysis uses a mean-field approximation, in which gauge field fluctuations are neglected. Based on this and previous analyses, we speculate the discrepancy with experiment may be an indirect signature of the effect of gauge field fluctuations in composite fermion theory.

Abstract:In a series of recent articles, Liu, Yang, Pan, et al. claim to have determined the exact dressed electron-boson vertex for a number of very general interacting many-body problems by inverting certain Ward-Takahashi identities. Here, we point out that their Ward-Takahashi identities are missing terms which make the inversion of the identities impossible. One therefore cannot formulate exact self-contained integral equations for the dressed electron propagator. In addition, the proposed vertex expressions do not reproduce well-established results for the leading perturbative corrections.
