Abstract:Let $X$ be a smooth projective variety with a semisimple quantum cohomology. It is known that the blowup $\operatorname{Bl}_{\rm pt}(X)$ of $X$ at one point also has semisimple quantum cohomology. In particular, the monodromy group of the quantum cohomology of $\operatorname{Bl}_{\rm pt}(X)$ is a reflectiongroup. We found explicit formulas for certain generators of the monodromy group of the quantum cohomology of $\operatorname{Bl}_{\rm pt}(X)$ depending only on the geometry of the exceptional divisor.

Abstract:We study the blow-down map in cohomology in the context of real projective blowups of Lie algebroids. Using the blow-down map in cohomology we compute the Lie algebroid cohomology of the blowup of transversals of arbitrary codimension, generalising the Mazzeo-Melrose theorem on b-cohomology. To prove the result we develop a Gysin sequence for Lie algebroids. As another example we use the developed tools to compute the Lie algebroid cohomology of the action Lie algebroid $\mathfrak{so}(3)\ltimes \mathbb{R}^3$, a result known in Poisson geometry literature. Moreover, we use similar techniques to compute the de Rham cohomology of real projective blowups.

Abstract:We give an expository account of a conjecture, developed by Coates-Iritani-Tseng and Ruan, which relates the quantum cohomology of a Gorenstein orbifold X to the quantum cohomology of a crepant resolution Y of X. We explore some consequences of this conjecture, showing that it implies versions of both the Cohomological Crepant Resolution Conjecture and of the Crepant Resolution Conjectures of Ruan and Bryan-Graber. We also give a 'quantized' version of the conjecture, which determines higher-genus Gromov-Witten invariants of X from those of Y.

Abstract:We propose a new point of view on quantum cohomology, strongly motivated by the work of Givental and Dubrovin, but closer to differential geometry than the existing approaches. The central object is the D-module which "quantizes" a commutative algebra associated to the (uncompactified) space of rational curves. A standard loop group factorization procedure converts the D-module to Givental's D-module and the commutative algebra to the quantum cohomology algebra. We apply this only to the small quantum cohomology of full flag manifolds and semi-positive toric manifolds, but even in these cases the method is effective. In particular it gives an algorithm (requiring construction of a Groebner basis and solution of a system of o.d.e.) for the quantum product.

Abstract:We construct a ring structure on complex cobordism tensored with the rationals, which is related to the usual ring structure as quantum cohomology is related to ordinary cohomology. Abstract:We establish a blow‐up formula for Hodge cohomology of locally free sheaves on smooth proper varieties over an algebraically closed field of positive characteristic. For this, we introduce a notion of relative Hodge sheaves and study their behavior under blow‐ups along smooth centers. In particular, as an application, we study the blow‐up invariance of the E2‐degeneracy of the Hochschild–Kostant–Rosenberg spectral sequence for smooth proper varieties.

Abstract:The (small) quantum cohomology ring of a flag manifold F encodes enumerative geometry of rational curves on F. We give a proof of the presentation of the ring and of a quantum Giambelli formula, which is more direct and geometric than the previously known proof. Furthermore, this proof gives a relationship between quantum Schubert polynomials and universal Schubert polynomials, which arise in a degeneracy locus formula of Fulton.

Abstract:We construct an I-function of the projective bundle P(V) associated with a not necessarily split vector bundle V\to B as a Fourier transform of the S^1-equivariant J-function of the total space of V and show that it lies on the Givental Lagrangian cone of P(V). Using this result, we show that the quantum cohomology D-module of P(V) splits into the direct sum of the quantum cohomology D-modules of the base space B. This has applications to the semisimplicity of big quantum cohomology.

Abstract:We consider the space of holomorphic maps from a compact Riemann surface to a projective space blown up at finitely many points. We show that the homology of this mapping space equals that of the space of continuous maps that intersect the exceptional divisors positively, once the degree of the maps is sufficiently positive compared to the degree of homology. The proof uses a version of Vassiliev's method of simplicial resolution. As a consequence, we obtain a homological stability result for rational curves on the degree $5$ del Pezzo surface, which is analogous to a case of the Batyrev--Manin conjectures on rational point counts.

Abstract:In algebraic geometry, Gromov--Witten invariants are enumerative invariants that count the number of complex curves in a smooth projective variety satisfying some incidence conditions. In 2001, A. Givental and Y.P. Lee defined new invariants, called $K$-theoretical Gromov--Witten invariants. These invariants are obtained by replacing cohomological constructions used in the definition of the usual Gromov--Witten invariants by their $K$-theoretical analogues. Then, an essential question is to understand how these two invariants are related. In 2013, Iritani-Givental-Milanov-Tonita show that $K$-theoretical Gromov--Witten invariants can be embedded in a function which satisfies a $q$-difference equation. In general, these equations verify a property called "confluence", which guarantees that we can take some limit of these functional equations to obtain differential equations. In this thesis, we propose to compare the two Gromov--Witten theories through the confluence of $q$-difference equation. We show that, in the case of complex projective spaces, the confluence of Givental's small $K$-theoretical $J$-function as a solution of a $q$-difference equations outputs its cohomological analogue.

Abstract:We observe a general structure theorem for quantum cohomology rings, a non-homogeneous version of the usual cohomology ring encoding information about (almost holomorphic) rational curves. An application is the rigorous computation of the quantum cohomology of Grassmannians. As purely algebraic consequence we prove a beautiful formula of Vafa and Intriligator for intersection numbers of certain compactifications of moduli spaces of maps from a Riemann surface (any genus) to G(k,n) which recently has excited many mathematicians. The formula generalizes to any Fano manifold whose cohomology ring can be presented as complete intersection.
Blowdowns of the Deligne-Mumford Spaces of Real Rational Curves

Abstract:We describe a sequence of smooth quotients of the Deligne-Mumford moduli space ${\mathbb R}\overline{\mathcal M}_{0,\ell+1}$ of real rational curves with $\ell\!+\!1$ conjugate pairs of marked points that terminates at ${\mathbb R}\overline{\mathcal M}_{0,\ell}\!\times\!{\mathbb C}{\mathbb P}^1$. This produces an analogue of Keel's blowup construction of the Deligne-Mumford moduli spaces $\overline{\mathcal M}_{\ell+1}$ of rational curves with $\ell\!+\!1$ marked points, but with an explicit description of the intermediate spaces and the blowups of three different types. The same framework readily adapts to the real moduli spaces with real points. In a sequel, we use this inductive construction of ${\mathbb R}\overline{\mathcal M}_{0,\ell+1}$ to completely determine the rational (co)homology ring of ${\mathbb R}\overline{\mathcal M}_{0,\ell}$.

Interpolation and moduli spaces of vector bundles on very general blowups of the projective plane

Abstract:In this paper, we study certain moduli spaces of vector bundles on the blowup of the projective plane in at least 10 very general points. Moduli spaces of sheaves on general type surfaces may be nonreduced, reducible and even disconnected. In contrast, moduli spaces of sheaves on minimal rational surfaces and certain del Pezzo surfaces are irreducible and smooth along the locus of stable bundles. We find examples of moduli spaces of vector bundles on more general blowups of the projective plane that are disconnected and have components of different dimensions. In fact, assuming the SHGH Conjecture, we can find moduli spaces with arbitrarily many components of arbitrarily large dimension.
