Abstract:The authors regret to inform that one of the modifications proposed in the article “High-fidelity micro-scale modeling of the thermo-visco-plastic behavior of carbon fiber polymer matrix composites” [1] was found to be unnecessary: the paraboloid yield criterion is sufficient to describe the shear behavior of the epoxy matrix considered (Epoxy 3501-6). The authors recently noted that the experimental work [2] used to validate the pure matrix response considered engineering shear strain instead of its tensorial counter-part, which caused the apparent inconsistency with the paraboloid yield criterion.

Abstract:In geological engineering, the existence of fault fracture zones has an obvious impact on the stability and failure process of the surrounding rock of mountain tunnels. In this study, a series of models with double pre-existing filled flaws and a circular hole were established and simulated under uniaxial compression. The results indicate that the existence of filled flaws and hole degrades the mechanical properties in the model. Specifically, as the distance of double filled flaws decreases and their inclination angle increases, the Young's modulus and uniaxial compression strength decline. When the inclination of the double pre-existing filled flaws is close to the rupture angle of the intact model, the mechanical properties of the model are the smallest. In addition, microcracks mainly initiate at the filled flaws and the left and right sides of circular hole. Most of the microcracks are tensile cracks, and only little shear microcracks are developed. It is also found that the source types of the acoustic emission events and b -value are related to the position and inclination angle of filled flaws. The source types of events that make up the shear band may be mainly tensile or shear. Implosive and shear events also significantly contribute to macroscopic failure. In addition, the b -values display a negative correlation with the increasing distance of double pre-existing filled flaws. The above results show that the stability of mountain tunnels may be evaluated by analyzing the position and inclination angle of fault fracture zones in tunnel engineering.

Abstract:Some concepts of shear strength and shear strength parameter,undrained shear strength and unconsolidated-undrained triaxial test are wrong in some soil mechanics textbooks and geotechnical engineering codes.The differences between the shear strength and the shear strength parameter are firstly discussed.Then the shear strength parameters determined by means of the consolidated undrained triaxial tests and the undrained shear strength determined by unconsolidated-undrained triaxial tests are analyzed.The differences between the undrained shear strength and the shear strength parameter of the soft clay are discussed.With the discussion about determination of the shear strength in the soft clay ground,the differences between the undrained shear strength and the shear strength parameter of the soft clay are discussed again.Finally,the stability analysis method,calculation parameters,determination method of calculation parameters and safety factor are coincided in the stability analysis of geotechnical engineering.

Abstract:This corrigendum corrects some errors of the paper entitled “Surface effect on the contact problem of a piezoelectric half-plane”, International Journal of Solids and Structures 185-186 (2020) 380–393 (Song et al., 2020). Because there is an error in the Fortran code when we calculate the numerical solution of the contact stress and electric displacement, their values become smaller compared to the original results. Moreover, the influencing trends of the surface effect are slightly different from the original results. However, the formulations of the original paper are intact.
