Abstract:The classical Cayley transform is a birational map between a quadratic matrix group and its Lie algebra, which was first discovered by Cayley in 1846. Because of its essential role in both pure and applied mathematics, the classical Cayley transform has been generalized from various perspectives. This paper is concerned with a representation theoretic generalization of the classical Cayley transform. The idea underlying this work is that the applicability of the classical Cayley transform heavily depends on how the Lie group is represented. The goal is to characterize irreducible representations of a Lie group, to which the classical Cayley transform is applicable. To this end, we first establish criteria of the applicability for a general Lie group. If the group is semisimple, we further obtain a geometric condition on the weight diagram of such representations. Lastly, we provide a complete classification for classical complex simple Lie groups and their compact real forms. Except for the previously known examples, spin representations of $\mathrm{Spin}(8)$ are the only ones on our list.

Matrix representation of the resolvent operator in square-integrable basis and physical application

Abstract:We obtain simple formulas for the matrix elements of the resolvent operator (the Green's function) in any finite set of square integrable basis. These formulas are suitable for numerical computations whether the basis elements are orthogonal or not. A byproduct of our findings is an expression for the normalized eigenvectors of a matrix in terms of its eigenvalues. We give a physical application as an illustration of how useful these results can be.

Necessary and sufficient conditions for the invertibility of the Vandermonde matrix are given. Analogues of Sylvester's theorem are formulated.

Abstract:We prove a generalization of Harish-Chandra's character orthogonality relations for discrete series to arbitrary admissible representations for real reductive Lie groups. This result is an analogue of a conjecture by Kazhdan for p-adic reductive groups proved by Bezrukavnikov and by Schneider and Stuhler.

Abstract:The aim of this paper is mainly to build a new representation-theoretic realization of finite root systems through the so-called Frobenius-type triangular matrix algebras by the method of reflection functors over any field. Finally, we give an analog of APR-tilting module for this class of algebras. The major conclusions contains the known results as special cases, e.g. that for path algebras over an algebraically closed field and for path algebras with relations from symmetrizable cartan matrices. Meanwhile, it means the corresponding results for some other important classes of algebras, that is, the path algebras of quivers over Frobenius algebras and the generalized path algebras endowed by Frobenius algebras at vertices.

Abstract:Let G be a semisimple Lie group with a Cartan decomposition G = K exp($\mathfrak{p}$). For every finite-dimensional representation of G, there is an inner product on the representation space such that with respect to it, K acts as unitary operators, and exp($\mathfrak{p}$) acts as positive definite Hermitian operators. In this paper, we observe that similar phenomena appear for infinite-dimensional representations with real infinitesimal characters.

Complex Analysis and Operator Theory

Abstract:Cauchy–Pompeiu and Bochner–Martinelli–Koppelman integral representation formulas in Clifford and complex analysis are related to Euclidean Dirac operator , operator , and two associated kernels. The article analyzes couples , where is a homogeneous first-order differential operator on with constant coefficients in a Banach algebra , and is a smooth kernel homogeneous of degree . Operator-kernel couples have integral representation formulas, which in addition to expected components include remainders. The two main results identify operator-kernel couples that yield Cauchy–Pompeiu and Bochner–Martinelli–Koppelman formulas. The formulas are used to derive quantitative Hartogs–Rosenthal theorems for such couples. The concepts of Dirac and semi-Dirac pairs of differential operators point out the role played by Laplace operators as part of the general approach.

Abstract:We study the geometry and partial differential equations arising from the consideration of group-determinants, and representation theory. The simplest and most striking such example is undoubtedly that of the Humbert operator, associated with the cyclic group Z/3Z. This operator appears as a natural extension of the Laplacian in dimension 2. Another originality of our work is to show that the spectral theory of operators associated with Frobenius determinants is closely linked to finite Fourier transform theory.

Abstract:We consider the problem of solving a linear system of equations which involves complex variables and their conjugates. We characterize when it reduces to a complex linear system, that is, a system involving only complex variables (and not their conjugates). In that case, we show how to construct the complex linear system. Interestingly, this provides a new insight on the relationship between real and complex linear systems. In particular, any real symmetric linear system of equations can be solved via a complex linear system of equations. Numerical illustrations are provided. The mathematics in this manuscript constitute an exciting interplay between Schur's complement, Cholesky's factorization, and Cauchy's interlace theorem.

The method is applied to the O(n)-invariant magnet model and to the Izergin-Korepin model, some anisotropic generalization of the SU(3)-invariant magnet.

Abstract:This paper is devoted to the study of the S -eigenvalue of finite type of a bounded right quaternionic linear operator acting in a right quaternionic Hilbert space. The study is based on the different properties of the Riesz projection associated with the connected part of the S -spectrum. Furthermore, we introduce the left and right Browder S -resolvent operators. Inspired by the S -resolvent equation, we give the Browder's S -resolvent equation in quaternionic setting.
