Abstract:The CoCrFeNi(TiC)x (x = 0, 0.1, 0.2, 0.3) composite coatings reinforced by in-situ synthesized TiC were prepared on the surface of Q235 steel via laser cladding. The phase composition and microstructure of the composite coating were characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), energy dispersive spectrometer (EDS), electron backscatter diffraction (EBSD) and transmission electron microscopy (TEM). The microstructure evolution of the cladding layer, the precipitation mechanism of the reinforced phases and the wear mechanism were systematically analyzed and discussed. The results showed that the addition of Ti and C leads to the increase of the lattice parameters of the matrix phase, TiC and Cr7C3 phases were observed in the cladding layer. The volume fraction of carbides increases with the addition of Ti and C. The orientation between the high-entropy alloy (HEA) matrix and TiC was determined to be the HEA matrix (1 11) // TiC (1 11), HEA matrix [1 1 0] // TiC [11 0]. The microhardness and wear resistance of the cladding layer is significantly improved due to the combined effect of solid solution strengthening, second phase strengthening and fine grain strengthening. The wear mechanism of the cladding layer changes from adhesive wear to abrasive wear with the addition of Ti and C. The CoCrFeNi(TiC)0.2 cladding layer shows the best wear resistance.
