Abstract:Underwater laser direct metal deposition (UDMD) was employed to deposit CoCrFeMnNi High entropy alloy. The deposition layer exhibits a homogeneous microstructure with cellular grains and dislocation networks. Anodic passivation contributes to thicker and denser passive films in high resistivity compared to that formed in spontaneous passivation, and the film growth kinetics in both processes follow the point defect model (PDM). Moreover, the passive film is multi-oxide, amorphous, and bilayer, where Cr and Fe are homogeneously dispersed, Mn and Co are preferentially located in the inner layer and outer layer, respectively, and Ni is mostly distributed in the subsurface altered zone.
