Abstract:A simple and efficient synthesis of Hantzsch 1,4-dihydropyridines from the condensation of benzaldehydes with alkyl acetoacetates/benzoylacetate and aqueous ammonia in the absence of catalyst has been developed by using a continuous flow microreactor. Under optimized condition, various 1,4-dihydropyridines were obtained in 80-93% yield with high atom efficiency. Compared with using batch system, the present smooth procedure greatly accelerated the reaction due to the excellent mixing and mass transfer of reactant in micro flow system.

Abstract:γ-Fe2O3 nanoparticles were synthesized in the valve-assisted micromixer. The resulting nanoparticles were characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD), transmission electron microscopy (TEM). In the packed bed flow reactor, the investigation concerning the comparison of different heating methods demonstrated that microwave irradiation displayed the best reaction efficiency compared with air heating and oil-bath heating. A novel micro-flow system under microwave irradiation was designed and employed in the condensation of aldehyde, ethyl acetoacetate and ammonia. Under optimized conditions, Hantzsch reaction conducted well, resulting in a yield of 98.7% and excellent selectivity. In addition, this novel process worked well for other substrates.

Abstract:An efficient NH4I-mediated intermolecular annulation of methyl N-heteroaromatics with amines/amino acids was developed by virtue of anodic oxidation, providing a variety of functionalized imidazo-fused N-heterocycles with good to excellent yields. The practicality of this protocol was demonstrated by the readily available starting materials, broad substrate scope, water tolerance, scalability, and the diverse transformations of the electrolysis product.
