Abstract:The vast area of distribution of soft clay with poor engineering property of our country, on the soft clay subgrade treatment by drainage consolidation method. As a kind of drainage consolidation method, vacuum preloading consolidation of soft soil foundation in recent years have been widely used, and achieved very good engineering and economic benefits. The theory research about vacuum preloading behind the engineering practice, restricted the further development of the technology and engineering application, it is necessary to make a systematic study. Through the comparative analysis of the test results, the vacuum causes soil consolidation, on this basis, the surcharge preloading and vacuum preloading contrast of the vacuum preloading mechanism, analyzes various factors foundation reinforcement finally strengthening effect by vacuum preloading.

Abstract:Basing on a pile foundation engineering example of an apartment in the region of complex karst foundation,a new method is applied with impact pore-forming pouring pile and high pressure jet grouting in solving the surrounding soft-plastic silty clay layer of soil hole and karst fissure fracture zone,and summarizing the advantages of impact pore-forming pouring pile in processing soil hole and problems in construction should be noticed.The engineering practice application effect is good,and provides the reference for the similar engineering.

Abstract:The reinforcement of karst cave is the key to shield tunnelling in karst areas.In this paper,the main geological risks when shield boring in karst strata with sandy soil cover are discussed;and then the ground surface reinforcement technology is introduced in terms of estimation standards of karst treatment,grouting program,grouting materials selection and grouting effect examination.Meanwhile,the grouting effect and the ground surface and building settlement are monitored.The study results show that:1 )The grouting reinforcement has reached good effect.2 )The ground surface and building settlement induced by shield boring varies steadily.3 ) The ground surface grouting reinforcement is suitable for shield tunneling in karst strata with sandy soil cover.

Abstract:Abstract Ground collapse occurs frequently in deep foundation construction in the shallow overlying rock-karst area, constituting a major hidden danger to personal safety and engineering quality. This study reveals the structural characteristics of honeycomb heterogeneous anisotropic rock mass through the geological radar scanning and the foundation optimization design of a high-rise building (35 floors) in the red layer karst site. Meanwhile, the giant karst cave pipeline is filled and reinforced by karst grouting, and an artificial dam is constructed to block the groundwater transport channel. Based on the analysis results of the stability against the punching and cutting of the karst cave roof, the composite foundation of the plain concrete rigid pile with low-bearing capacity and high replacement rate is proposed. Regarding the extremely thin karst cave roof area, the steel pipe pile is used for underpinning and reinforcement, effectively avoiding the risk of local instability and construction collapse caused by the effective length of the pile and large stress at the pile end. After completing the building, it runs well. Meanwhile, the monitoring shows that the maximum settlement deformation of the high-rise building is only 9.63 mm.

Abstract:It is common to have a foundation pit accident, when failing to deal with the effect of confined water. In order to avoid such accidents, the Jiangnan launching shaft of Qingchun Road River-Crossing Tunnel in Hangzhou was investigated. According to the analysis of on-site monitoring data of wall deflection, settlement, and strut load, some conclusion can be drawn. Firstly, the wall deflection is closely related to the plane size of the foundation pit, and through strengthening the stiffness of the central support, the wall deflection can be greatly controlled. Secondly, the maximum settlement point is 0.5 times depth of the excavation away from retaining wall. Finally, load in the first level strut gradually decreased during the construction, and even can turn to be tensile force.

Abstract:For fine grained soil with low permeability and high plasticity, the conventional drainage consolidation methods work inefficiently in foundation reinforcement.Electro-osmosis method has advantage of short duration and easy installation.Relevant research is emerging and some has realized primary engineering application.Researches on foundation reinforcement by electro-osmosis method were summarized to further understand the electro-osmosis reinforcement mechanism and provide references for project design.This review mainly includes the relation between soil properties and electro-osmosis reinforcement mechanism, the effect of test methods and control factors on electro-osmosis, the electro-osmosis method combined with other treatment methods.Problems occurred in researches are as follows: how to determine the practice code and guideline of control factors, how to consider electro-osmosis mechanism before experiment design, how to enhance single-factor tests, etc.In addition, the research directions for future are suggested, such as to develop new testing technology, to improve computing method and electro-osmosis treatment of advanced materials.

Abstract:Soft clay-soil foundation with confined water is reinforced by using vacuum-surcharge technique for the first time.The design and field tests of the technique in specific stratum layer are introduced.Then constructions of retaining wall with soil nail pre-embedded and steel drain pipes which are anti-corrosive are elaborated in detail.The success of this test greatly expands the application area of the technique,and has reference effect for vacuum-surcharge pre-loading design of similar geological conditions.

Abstract:The stable surrounding rock is the key to ensuring tunnel availability in weakly cemented strata. In recent years, the joint support scheme of “steel beam + anchor net rope + grouting” was proposed based on numerical analysis, laboratory tests, and field tests, which was efficient in the short term. However, the effect of time and environment on the support structure was neglected. The weakly cemented mudstone was sensitive to water, with disintegration soaking up water and consolidation losing water. In this paper, analogy-based remolded soil puts forward the structural restrengthening of damaged mudstone. It was believed that when the clay content of a rock mass exceeded the critical proportion, the restrengthened structure could be regained under certain conditions of consolidation stress and water content. On the one hand, the residual strength of broken mudstone can be improved; on the other hand, pores and cracks are filled with minerals, restraining further water absorption. The structural strengthening feasibility of damaged mudstone was verified based on the geological characteristics and microscopic and strength tests. It is found that restrengthening specimens form cementation on the contacts of broken blocks. The greater the consolidation stress and moisture content, the denser the structure and the higher the strength. The research contributes to supporting the construction of weakly cemented mudstone.

Abstract:It is crucial to alleviate the effect of construction of underground transportation on the safety of the bridges in tunnel excavation region since it is inevitable for the tunnel to go across the city viaduct. To solve above problem, a technique of bridge reinforcement was proposed, which combines the jacking superstructure of bridges and grouting substructure. With this technique, the uneven settlement of the bridge foundation could be controlled as well as the change of the upper structure of bridges could be limited in a reasonable interval. Finally, the effectiveness of proposed method is demonstrated by reinforcing a real bridge in the region of subway construction in Guangzhou, China.

Abstract:There are many strongly developed karsts in South China, which bring great uncertainty to the construction stability of underground projects. This paper takes the deep foundation pit project of a station in a sandy soil area as the background, simulates the deep foundation pit excavation process based on finite element software, and comparatively analyzes the influence of the existence of karst holes on the foundation pit support structure. The results show that the effective treatment of solution holes in the process of foundation pit excavation can reduce the risk of surface settlement around the foundation pit but has less influence on the lateral displacement of the foundation pit support structure. The cavity grouting reinforcement technology is also introduced in detail in the paper, which can provide a reference for the reinforcement of deep foundation pit projects in sandy soil stratum containing strong development of large cavities.

Abstract:During the construction process, it is difficult to ensure the structural safety of shallow buried tunnel with the ultra-small clear distance since the tunnel is prone to instability and the surrounding rock and soil are in an adverse stress condition. To address this issue, a hybrid construction method is proposed to enhance tunnel stability and reinforce the surrounding rocks and soil. First, aiming at an actual tunnel, numerical analysis are provided to compare the effectiveness of different construction methods such as the bench method, advanced reinforcement method, and grouting reinforcement method. Second, the performance of the combination of advanced reinforcement and grouting reinforcement are discussed, and, on the basis of this discussion, the hybrid construction method, combining the advanced small pipes reinforcement, middle rock wall reinforcement, and grouting reinforcement, is proposed. And the characteristics of proposed method is compared with the traditional CRD construction method. The results reflect that using the hybrid construction method can enhance the stability of the tunnel and its effect is similar to that of the CRD method. Finally, the effectiveness of proposed hybrid construction method is verified by using the measured data obtained during the construction of an actual tunnel with the ultra-small clear distance. The results shown that the proposed method can enhance the stability of the tunnel and improve the bearing capacity of the surrounding rock and soil.

Abstract:Combined with a strategic policy for the recycling of construction waste, this paper puts forward a programme for treating a goaf foundation with waste concrete powder, waste brick powder, and cement grout (BCP cement grout). The BCP cement grout is prepared by replacing part of the waste concrete powder with waste brick powder, and the changeable rule of the setting time, water separation rate, stone rate, and viscosity of the grout with different rates for replacement are studied. X-ray diffraction (XRD) and scanning electron microscopy (SEM) are carried out. The mineral composition is analyzed and the microscopic mechanism is studied. The results show that the ratio of BCP cement grout developed by the experiment is reasonable; the unit cost is less than 160 yuan/t, which is 40% lower than that of pure cement grout; and both a good economic effect and good environmental effect are obtained. It has the advantages of low water separation rate, high stone rate, and low viscosity. When the ratio of cement powder: waste concrete powder: waste brick powder is 3:5:2 or 3:6:1, the 28 d compressive strength of the stone body is more than 2 MPa, meeting the filling requirements for a goaf foundation. It is not only technically feasible but also economically reasonable to apply construction waste powder to fill the goaf foundation. Recycling and utilizing construction waste can also achieve the ecological restoration of mined-out areas, highlighting the ecological benefits.

Abstract:As for those arch dams constructed in high in situ stress valley, foundation excavation may lead to stress and strain energy release and rock mass relaxation, and then cause shallow stability problem, which has few successful examples for us to learn how to design and reinforce the foundation for super high arch dam with complicated geo-condition. In this paper, a detailed discussion was conducted focusing on the characters, types of rock mass relaxation and loose mechanisms of excavated foundation of super high arch dam. Based on the calculation of anti-shear and anti-sliding safety factor of dam interface, system treatment measures, such as grouting, drainage, backfill concrete and reinforced bolts, are proposed.
