Abstract:A reusable SoC verification environment is presented in this paper. This versatile environment, which is based on VSI Alliance IP bus standard, is in accordance with pervasive rules of IP reusing, and hence is suitable for varieties of designs. Through collaborating with other EDA tools, the environment has powerful capability to support HW/SW co-simulation and digital/analog co-simulation. To be user friendly, the environment is well organized to accommodate new IPs easily. It is configurable for verifications from system-level prototyping to gate level simulation. This environment works well for verifications of digital, analog and mixed-signal SoC designs.
A Test Architecture for Test Reuse in SOC Design

Abstract:A chip test architecture implementing IP core test reuse in SOC design generally includes two parts: 1) a test access mechanism (TAM), which transmits test stimulus and response, and 2) a chip test controller, which realizes test control. A chip test architecture based on test bus is analyzed in the paper, and test scheduling in SOC is explained. Finally, the design of the chip test controller is presented, which is capable of carrying out test scheduling.

Abstract:A simultaneous reconfigurable multi-chip access bus interface for application in high-bandwidth multi-drop parallel interconnections such as a memory bus has been developed. The interface utilizes a source synchronous signaling and direct-sequence code-division multiple access (CDMA) technique for high bus concurrency and low channel latency. The prototype chip, fabricated in 0.18-/spl mu/m CMOS and tested in a 10-cm test board achieves a data rate of 2 Gb/s/pin with multiple access and re-configurability between four (2-to-2) off-chip I/Os.

Abstract:Wishbone is a free and open interface standard of OCB for SoC,and is very popular in current application.A system programmed in Perl/Tk for the customed auto-generated wishbone bus is given.This platform independent system has a friendly con-figuration GUI and is easy-to-use.According to a specific system,the wishbone bus is flexibly configured to generate different style target HDLs automatically,which greatly improves the wishbone bus design.

Abstract:The electronics industry has entered the era of multi-million-gate chips, and there Xs no turning back. This technology promises new levels of integration on a single chip, called the System-on-a-Chip (SoC) design, but also presents significant challenges to the chip designer. Processing cores on a single chip, may number well into the high tens within the next decade, given the current rate of advancements, [1]. Interconnection networks in such an environment are, therefore, becoming more and more important [2]. Currently on-chip interconnection networks are mostly implemented using buses. For SoC applications, design reuse becomes easier if standard internal connection buses are used for interconnecting components of the design. Design teams developing modules intended for future reuse can design interfaces for the standard bus around their particular modules. This allows future designers to slot the reuse module into their new design simply, which is also based around the same standard bus [3]. In this paper we give an overview of the more popular on-chip bus-based interconnection networks such as AMBA, Avalon CoreConnect, STBus, Wishbone, etc. The main characteristics of the considered buses in respect to topology, arbitration method, bus-width, and types of data transfers are discussed.

Abstract:To be different from the universal asynchronous design in multichip, a new-style design of the synchronous system on monolithic chip is presented to apply to exchange and management of business cards in this paper. Every part is accomplished and some improvement is made in the circuits to decrease power consumption. In addition, we adopt SOC (System on Chip) design to reduce fabrication and system test costs, introduce a controllable high-speed infrared driver to enhance the security and quality of communication, and design reduced instruction set to enhance the quality and efficiency of business cards management and depress systematic redundancy. This chip is fabricated in 0.6um mixed-signal CMOS process (double poly, double metal). packaged as well as tested primarily.

Abstract:This paper discusses a layout of bus-on-chip core referring to SoC thinking which is composed of six sections based on a physical chip of FPGA: multi-Processor cache coherence unit, external bus control module, TT&C module, Ethernet Mac interface, EDAC/DMA module, and AMBA bridges. Multi-processor cache coherence unit, as a key part of the bus core, is used to serve the rapid parallel computing by means of the breakthrough of write/read speed of EMS memory and enhances the reliability of OBC with the service of supporting the hot standby of redundancy and the reconfiguration of fault-tolerance. External bus control module is made to support the PnP of external components applying varieties of buses, which is designed by means of soft-core in order to adapt the variation of macro-design and improve the flexibility of external application. TT&C module is the interface of subsystems of telemetry, telecommand and communication, which involves the protocols of HDLC. Ethernet Mac interface based on TCP/IP acts as the access of ISL for formation flying, constellation, etc. EDAC/DMA module mainly manages the data exchange between AMBA bus and RAM, and assigns DMA for the payloads.

Abstract:Current system-on-chip(SoC) communication architectures are limited by lack of service quality control over different types of transactions from the same initiator, leading to poor bandwidth or latency performance,and lack of a mechanism to assign priorities to bus components.This paper presents FineBus,a communication architecture that provides fine-grained control over bandwidths and latencies. The technique classifies the bus requests into ports while assigning each port a metric with a distribution according to need mechanism.This architecture provides fine-grained quality of service(QoS for communication transactions.Experimental results show that the architecture provides better quality as the system's communication requirements change than previous architectures.

Abstract:The vision of the Internet of things is very appealing, and gains more and more attention. Since mobile devices in the Internet become more complex and heterogeneous, device collaboration will be full of technical challenges. How to integrate different systems and heterogeneous devices is a big problem. In order to overcome the problem, it is very important to describe and match the heterogeneous device services with semantics. We use web service interface specification to wrap device, and OWL to describe services in semantic. In this paper we introduce a semantic device bus for Internet of things, which will allow service creation of different devices, management of device services, semantic description and matching of device services, and complex collaboration of device services. The bus provides a fundamental platform for large-scale applications of the Internet of things.
The IRCBus Communication Protocol Construction Design and Realization for Distributed Control System

Abstract:Distributed control system plays an important part in the application of satellite systems. However, there are integrated requirements (i.e., reliability, real-time capability, expandability, commonality, usability, economy and efficiency) for communication in these systems often used in hostile environments. The work presented here relates to a protocol named IRCBus (Industry High-Reliability Configurable Bus), which supports these requirements. And it also offers practical solutions. First of all, the protocol is formulated based on ISO/OSI (International Organization Standardization /Open System Interconnection) model and it includes four layers: Physical, DataLink, Network and Transport. And it proposes new ideas and improved methods in each layer draft and realization for these requirements. Then the high reliability is guaranteed by hot backup, three redundancy, bus isolation, retransmission law, data check and intrinsically safe explosion-proof; the real-time capability is realized by hardware system based on Field Programmable Gate Arrays (FPGA) and software system; the expandability for bus functions and network size is considered during the whole design; the usability is solved by system management function, installing law and uninstalling law; the low cost are achieved as follows: adopting common cable as transmission media; utilizing existing chip RS485 chip with rational circuit; the efficiency is improved by taking advantage of 8-bit data and 9-bit data in UART (Universal Asynchronous Receiver/Transmitter) protocol and other features. Moreover, it analyzes the protocol from communication principle perspectives. Lastly, in conclusion, it provides some discussion about extensions for Presentation layer (the sixth layer in ISO/OSI) and bus drive. rds: Protocol, IRCBus, Field bus

Abstract:The bus in a SoC plays an important role and the arbiter is adopted to solve bus contentions. We propose a novel arbitration algorithm, adaptive arbitration algorithm, in this paper. Abstract:IEEE 802.11 b and g standards, which are compatible with each other, are combined to provide higher-performance wireless communication with more options of data rates. In order to meet the upgrading demands of 802.11 standards and other standards using DSSS and OFDM as the pivotal algorithms of physical-layer parts, a SOC (or ASIC+DSP) solution is used to realize the baseband system. The paper firstly introduces the features of the 802.11 b/g PHY, and then gives the architecture and layout of BX501, the chip designed and taped out in SMIC 0.18-micron technology. The paper also presents the testing results that prove the chip can fulfill the modulation/demodulation functions of the 802.11 b/g PHY. At last, a conclusion is made that points out the importance of system-level verification.
