Abstract:Taking a new large-scale project for high purity dimeric acid production as an example,the material,product,process and equipment of the high-vacuum three-step molecular distillation technology were analyzed.With the independently-developed high vacuum three-step molecular distillation technology and the improvement of equipment and control conditions,the purity of dimeric acid extracted from the heels of cottonseed oil can come up to 98%.Comparing with the former process,the consumption of water,steam and energy is dropped.Several suggestions and measures for cleaner production of high purity dimeric acid production are put forward.

Abstract:H acid is an important dye intermediate for the synthesis of direct, reactive and azo dyes. In this study, the method of complex extraction and stripping has been introduced for the treatment of high concentrated H acid wastewater. The extractant and diluent selected in the experiment are trialkylamine (N7301) and kerosene, respectively. And the dependencies of the extraction efficiency on the extractant concentration, the initial pH value, the volume ratio of water to oil (W/O), and the temperature are investigated. Under the optimum condition that kerosene/N7301 of 3:1, pH of 1.0, W/O of 2:1, and temperature of 45°C, through three-stage extraction, the CODcr value of H acid wastewater decreases from 13828.48 mg/l to 199.21 mg/l, and the overall CODcr removal rate can reach 98.56%. Finally, the extractant can be regenerated by stripping process with 10% NaOH, and the stripping rate can arrive at 100%. Compared with other methods, complex extraction and stripping is considered as a much more efficient and feasible one not only for that the extractant regenerated can reduce the operation cost but also for that the H acid extracted can be reused in the production process without degradation, which meets the requirement of zerodischarge and no sludge.

Abstract:In the stage of removal protein of using diluted alkali,by adding 8%-10% of new diluted alkali into the reacted diluted alkali,the reacted diluted alkali can be reused 3 times;in the stage of deacetylationt of using concentrated alkali,by adding 5% of new concentrated alkali into the reac-ted concentrated alkali,the reacted concentrated alkali can be reused 10 times.Finally these reacted waste acid and waste alkali are both treated synthetically into the lime and organic fertilizer.Compared with the traditional process,the production efficiency of this process was enhanced 3 times,the treating cost of this process cut down 10 times,the pollution load of this process reduced 54%.

Abstract:Chloroacetaldehyde is a typical refractory toxic petrochemical wastewater to environment, whereas conventional treatment strategies in the wastewater treatment plants are inapplicable to transforming it into nontoxic forms. Therefore, we explored zero valent iron enhanced hydrolytic acidification solution to tackle this problem. Experimental results indicated that zero valent iron enhanced hydrolytic acidification technology possessed the capability to chloroacetaldehyde detoxication, 20.23% and 19.32% increasing dechlorination ratio achieved at initial CAE concentration of 50 and 100 mg/L with 5 g/L ZVI at 48 h. Moreover, ZVI reduced cell death resulted from 0.31, to 1.59 DNA/g VSS reduced at aforementioned parameters. Also, ZVI did not significantly affect predominant butyric acid-type fermentation, but it facilitated the total volatile fatty acids more 43.10, 26.06 and 25.39 mg COD/g VSS produced at 50 and 100 mg/L with at 48 h, particularly, it enhanced the yields of shortchain fatty acid Ac which can be directly used by microbes.

Abstract:Latex wastewater is a kind of refractory organic wastewater containing high concentrations of organics and ammonia nitrogen. In this work, the combined process of forward osmosis (FO) and reverse osmosis (RO) was designed to treat the latex wastewater in the whole process, achieving the water recovery rate of 99% and basically no waste discharge after the catalytic oxidation process. The turbidity of the latex wastewater was decreased to below 1 NTU by microfiltration pretreatment, and then using MgCl 2 worked as the draw solution for FO process to treat the latex wastewater. Different operation conditions including adding acid or scale inhibitor as the pretreatment methods were conducted to improve the treatment performance of the combined process. After the treatment of the whole process, the concentration of COD was less than 20 mg‧L −1 , the concentration of NH 3 -N was less than 10 mg‧L −1 , and the concentration of TP was less than 0.5 mg‧L −1 for the treated latex wastewater. The water quality met standards of industrial water reuse after the complete analysis of the treated latex wastewater, meanwhile, useful substances of L-Quebrachitol (L-Q) were successfully extracted from the concentrated solution. Therefore, the combined process of FO and RO could realize the efficient treatment and reuse of latex wastewater, which provided with some important guidance on the industrial application. © 2022 The Chemical Industry and Engineering Society of China, and Chemical Industry Press Co., Ltd.. Abstract:The acidification-extraction process was used to treat the wastewater in butyl and isooctyl alcohol production,using sulfuric acid as pH regulator and isooctyl alcohol as extractor.The factors affecting the extraction efficiency were examined.The optimum process conditions are as follows: wastewater pH 2.5,volume ratio of wastewater to extractor 4,wastewater temperature 10 ℃,oscillation time 60 s and stationary separation time 10 min.The wastewater with 42 244 mg/L of COD was treated by two-stage cross current extraction under the optimum conditions,realizing 86.82% of COD removal rate.This process can achieve both purposes of wastewater treatment and resource recovery.

Abstract:With the comparison of the three different processes of concentrated technology in the production of alkaline cellulose, the ultra-filtration method is adopted in the concentrated process design. The factors that affect the ultra-filtration process and the feasibility of this technology are analyzed. The design for commercial production is accomplished by using ultrafiltration equipment with hollow fiber membrane. The technology is used in the alkaline cellulase production in an enterprise, and the product quality fits for the standard of purified enzyme.

Abstract:In the last decade, polyvinyl chloride(PVC) production is growing continuously. However, the processing of manufacturing PVC products requires excessive freshwater for its operation and discharges considerable quantities of wastewater. This creates a serious threat to the sources of environment and fresh water supply. Therefore, it is necessary to develop efficient measures for the wastewater control and water recycling. The sources and characteristics of wastewater from PVC are introduced briefly, then the state and progress of technology to treat such wastewater in China and abroad are summarized, and the engineering application and research, and furthermore, some successful processes are introduced in detail. The contact oxidation - ozonation process is proposed as the dominant process in treating and reusing the mother liquid of PVC.
Classical and Process Intensification Methods for Acetic Acid Concentration: Technical and Environmental Assessment

Abstract:This study aims to investigate, from a technical and an environmental perspective, various alternatives for acetic acid concentration for maximizing acetic acid production, its purity, and in the meantime, minimizing the energy usage and the environmental impact. Liquid–liquid extraction followed by azeotropic distillation using different solvents such as: (i) ethyl acetate, (ii) isopropyl acetate, and (iii) a mixture containing isopropyl acetate and isopropanol were first explored, using process flow modeling software. The three cases were compared considering various technical key performance indicators (i.e., acetic acid flow-rate, acetic acid purity, acetic acid recovery, power consumption, thermal energy used, and number of equipment units involved) leading to the conclusion that the usage of the isopropyl acetate—isopropanol mixture leads to better technical results. The isopropanol-isopropyl acetate mixture was furthermore investigated in other two cases where process intensification methods, based on thermally coupled respectively the double-effect distillation process, are proposed. The highest quantity of pure acetic acid (e.g., 136 kmol/h) and the highest recovery rate (e.g., 97.74%) were obtained using the double-effect method. A cradle-to-gate life cycle assessment, involving ReCiPe method, was used to calculate and compare various environmental impact indicators (i.e., climate change, freshwater toxicity potential, human toxicity, etc.). Several steam sources (i.e., hard coal, heavy fuel oil, light fuel oil, natural gas, and biomass) were considered in the environmental evaluation. The results of the life cycle assessment show a reduction, by almost half, in all the environmental impact indicators when the double effect method is compared to the thermally coupled process. The usage of biomass for steam generation lead to lower impacts compared to steam generation using fossil fuels (i.e., hard coal, heavy fuel oil, light fuel oil, natural gas).

Abstract:Briefly introduced the production method of balanced oxychlorination producing Vinyl Chloride Monomer(VCM). Summarized the catalyst development and the application in the VCM production, mainly in the oxychloride reaction adds the new type multi-components catalyst to expedite the reaction rate greatly and in the decomposition response adds the catalyst to enhance the reaction reactivity rate and reduce the by-product.In the VCM production each unit technique improvement, including provides the heat source using the reaction heat for distillation, using double avail pressure change distill technology, adding heat recovery equipment and so on .Their main goal is to reduce the steam loss and increase the thermal recycling uses. Finally forcast the research on the balanced oxychlorination producing VCM.

Cleaner production of citric acid by recycling its extraction wastewater treated with anaerobic digestion and electrodialysis in an integrated citric acid-methane production process

Abstract:To solve the pollution problem of extraction wastewater in citric acid production, an integrated citric acid-methane production process was proposed. Extraction wastewater was treated through anaerobic digestion and the anaerobic digestion effluent (ADE) was recycled for the next batch of citric acid fermentation, thus eliminating wastewater discharge and reducing water consumption. Excessive Na(+) contained in ADE could significantly inhibit citric acid fermentation in recycling and was removed by electrodialysis in this paper. Electrodialysis performance was improved after pretreatment of ADE with air stripping and activated carbon adsorption to remove precipitable metal ions and pigments. Moreover, the concentrate water was recycled and mixed with feed to improve the water recovery rate above 95% in electrodialysis treatment, while the dilute water was collected for citric acid fermentation. The removal rate of Na(+) in ADE was above 95% and the citric acid production was even higher than that with tap water.

Abstract:Acrylonitrile (AN) wastewater is a heavily polluted and a likely hazardous liquid that is generated during the production of AN. Several chemical methods for the pretreatment of AN wastewater are available in laboratory scale. However, the harsh reaction conditions and high operational cost make these methods undesirable. Until now, four-effect evaporation is the only pretreatment method used for AN wastewater in industry despite its huge energy consumption and high cost. It is difficult to find an energy-saving pretreatment technique from the perspective of industrial application. In this study, a safe and low-cost coagulation technique was developed for the pretreatment of AN wastewater. Three types of inorganic coagulant and three types of polymer coagulant were investigated for the coagulation treatment of highly concentrated AN wastewater from petrochemical plants. The effects of coagulant type, dosage, and coagulation conditions on the pretreatment efficiency of AN wastewater were investigated. The results show that a combination of inorganic and polymer coagulants is effective for the pretreatment of AN wastewater.
