Abstract:Unconsidering the effect of crossing factors,a series experiments with 5-factor and 4-level experiments are designed to study on the effect to diameter of porous silica particles prepared from wollastinite.The result shows that when reaction time 80 min,olding time 20 min,reaction temperature 50～55 ℃,12 mol/L of HCl and wolladtonite 80 g,the choice of surfactant affect the porous silica particles most,and the added time of surfactant least.The condition when the diamater is the smallest are:20% of wolastonite surpension,surfactant of cetyl trimethyl ammonium bromide (1631-Br),pH value 1.5,1.5% of NH4Cl,and the added time at the 60 min.The result of proved experiment set the conclusion.
Study on Effect of Porous Silica Prepared from Wollastonite As Reinforcer in Silastic

Abstract:The application of porous silica prepared from wollastonite in silastic was studied. In particular, the effect of particle diameter and specific surface area was studied. The results showed that the smaller the particle diameter was and the higher of specific surface area , the better the result was. And , the specific surface area of porous silica was the main factor. Finally, reinforcing effect of porous silica and some other fillers were compared, and other application fields of porous silica were put forward.

Abstract:Based on the traditional precipitation method and using rice husk ash as the raw material,an innovated precipitation method combined with high pressure homogenization was proposed to prepare highly dispersed nanosilica.The high pressure homogeneous technology was used for super-fine comminution of SiO2 particles.The effects of precipitation reaction end-point pH,acid concentration,reaction temperature,homogeneous pressure and surfactant on the properties of nanosilica were investigated.The optimal technological conditions of generating nanosilica from rice husk ash by precipitation combined with high pressure homogenization method were obtained as follows:the precipitation reaction end-point pH was at 8.5～9.0,the hydrochloric acid concentration was 1.0 mol/L,the precipitation reaction temperature was 60 ℃ and was homogeneous pressure was at 69～103.4 MPa.Results showed that the whiteness of nanosilica products under the optimal preparation conditions was about 93％,and the DBP value of prepared nanosilica was about 3.3 mL/g.The prepared nanosilica products were obvious of high purity and high dispersion.
The preparation of silica white from fly ash and its characterization

Abstract:The silica white was prepared using fly ash as raw material. It comprised alkaline fusion of fly ash followed by extraction with hydrochloric acid. The acid concentrations, reaction time, Sit ratio and stirring rate on silica extraction efficiency were investigated. The prepared silica white was also characterized by XRD and N(2) adsorption-desorption. The results showed that, the extracting rate displayed an increasing trend with the increase of acid concentrations, reaction time and stirring rates. The specific surface area and average pore size of the prepared silica white were 364.8m(2)/g and 6.02nm, respectively.
Study on preparation and surface modification of precipitated silica obtained from fly ash

Abstract:The fly ash, as a starting material, was subjected to alkaline fusion with sodium carbonate and formed NaAlSiO 4. The resultlant reacted with HCl solution and the filtration was undertaken sol-gel transition process to obtain precipitated silica. Then, the surface modification of precipitated silica was conducted using silane coupling agent γ-MPS and stearic acid. The precipitated silica before and after modification were characterized by XRD, TG-DTA, FT-IR spectroscopy and nitrogen adsorption isotherms measurements. The results showed that the specific surface area and average pore diameter were 364.80m 2/g and 6.02 nm, respectively. The TG-DTA analysis and FT-IR spectroscopy indicated that modification agent had been successfully grafted onto the surface of precipitated silica. The γ-MPS showed good modification effect compared with that of stearic acid.

Abstract:In this study, we report a new, simple approach to the preparation of high-surface-area zeolitic silica (HZS) with well-defined mesoporosity by combining hydrothermal synthesis and sol-gel processing. N-2 adsorption-desorption measurements show that HZS has a BET surface area of 678-723 m(2) g(-1) and well-defined bimodal pores at 5.5 and 26.0-34.5 Angstrom. XRD, TEM and FT-IR show that HZS has a typical zeolite MFI structure. HZS is thermally stable and has tunable pore size and pore volume, and thus is promising for applications in catalysis, separation, and micro electronics. The described approach also appears general and may be readily extended to zeolitic alumino silicates by using suspensions of other zeolite nanoparticles.

Abstract:Composite wollastonite powder coated with nanometer particles was prepared by chemical method. The FSEM, XRD and specific surface area testing instrument were used to characterize the composite wollastonite powders. Processing parameters, such as the concentration of calcium hydroxide, had great affect on the surface structure of composite wollastonite powders. The structure of nano-particles coated on the wollastonite was calcite. The specific surface area of composite wollastonite powder was three times more than that of untreated wollastonite powders. The mechanism of the coating process was discussed.

Abstract:High-silica MTW (ZSM-12) was synthesized by a new two-silica method in 8 h in hydroxide medium with tetraethylammonium hydroxide as structure-directing agent. Sodium metasilicate was used as the 1st silica source and shown to induce nucleation/crystallization of MTW in presence of a 2nd silica source such as fumed silica, silica gel and colloidal silica. The synthesis products were characterized by techniques including scanning electron microscopy, X-ray diffraction, magic angle spinning nuclear magnetic resonance, Fourier transform infrared, TGA/DTA, and nitrogen adsorption. The two-silica method was also used successfully to obtain MTW films/membrane on various substrates such as nonporous Al-alloy, porous and nonporous stainless steel and porous α-alumina tubes.

Abstract:A novel micro-mesopores composite material has successfully been synthesized at basic hydrothermal conditions using natural mineral montmorillonite (MMT) and tetraethoxysilane (TEOS). Two surfactants, cetyltrimethyl ammonium bromide (CTAB) and polyethylene glycol (PEG), have been employed in order to shape the pores in the composite. The resultant silica-clay has large surface area (472 m(2)/g) and high hydrothermal stability, which makes it a potentially host-material for catalyst. The molecular size of different surfactant leads to the multi-peak distribution of pore size, and the surfactant of larger size (PEG) corresponds to the formation of larger pores. Moreover, the photocatalytic results show that, comparing with pure TiO2 particles, the loaded TiO2 on such silica-clay shows higher photodegradation rate of methyl orange (MO) in aqueous. And another porous aluminosilicate host, zeolite, was also discussed for comparison. (c) 2008 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.

Abstract:Porous Silica Gel was synthesized via Sol-Gel process with phase separation using TEOS as raw materials,thermal stability,microstructure and of which were studied by the heat treatment and by means of IR,TG-DTA and SEM.The adsorption property of porous silica gel for cerium ions in solution was studied by discontinuous process,providing some references to the processing of high-level liquid waste.The experimental results show that the synthesized porous silica gel with good thermal stability and high porosity has good adsorption properties for cerium ions in solution;For given initial concentration of cerium ions,with increasing the rate of solid to liquid the equilibrium adsorption capacity decreases while the equilibrium adsorption rate increases and the equilibrium adsorption ratio increases afterwards decreases when the rate of solid to liquid is 3:500.

Abstract:The modification mechanism of low-molecular-weight organic acids on a single-chain silicate mineral (wollastonite) was investigated through a leaching method. Solid and liquid samples were analyzed using atomic absorption spectrophotometer (AAS), X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscope (SEM), and Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR). After 720 h of reaction, the results revealed that the dissolution concentration of Si (2200 μmol/L) in citric acid solution is more than that (1950 μmol/L) in oxalic acid. In the composite acids (citric acid and oxalic acid), the dissolution concentration of Si release from wollastonite reached the maximum value of 3304 μmol/L. The dissolution data of Si in wollastonite were fittingly described by the parabolic equation (Ct = a + bt1/2), with the highest correlation coefficients (R2 > 0.993), in the presence of the low-molecular-weight organic acids. The dissolution data suggested that the dissolution reaction process of Si was consistent with the diffusion-controlled model. Citric acid exhibited a higher affinity for attacking the (200) surface, while oxalic acid was prone to dissolve the (002) crystal face. The synergistic effects of oxalic acid and citric acid led to the weakening of the XRD diffraction peak intensity of wollastonite. When exposed to composite acids, the surface of wollastonite was covered with insoluble reactants that restricted the substance diffusion and hindered the reaction. This study offers valuable theoretical insights into the modification or activation of wollastonite by composite low-molecular-weight organic acids.

Abstract:In the reaction process of silica by vitriol precipitation,granularity,bulk density and oil absorption value of amorphous silica are studied with adding different percent surfactants(polyethylene glycol).And when the content of polyethylene glycol is 6%,bulk density and oil absorption value of amorphous silica are studied with adding different percent modifying agents AF-5 and 1010.The study shows that with the increasing of polyethylene glycol,the size and bulk density of amorphous silica decrease and oil aboorption value increases.And increasing of both modifying agents can let oil absorption value decline till some value.The results show that a series of products with different properties could be obtained by varying reacting conditions,so the application field of the white carbon will be extended.

Abstract:A series of SiO 2 –TiO 2 mixed oxides was prepared by the sol–gel route, and the influence of several important preparation parameters (Ti precursors, content, and calcination temperature) on the Si–O–Ti connectivity, coordination of titanium and surface acidity has been studied using various analytical techniques. The solids obtained were largely amorphous and characterized by Ti enrichment on surfaces with low titanium content; however, the addition of titanium greater than 50 mol% into the SiO 2 matrix led to significant phase separation of crystalline anatase. The Ti atoms are tetrahedrally coordinated with Si/Ti ratios higher than 10 and gradually enter into octahedral positions in the silica matrix with further increase in the titanium content. High-temperature treatment can break Si–O–Ti linkages and eliminate hydroxyl groups, resulting in a decrease in acid site density.

Abstract:The amorphous silica precipitation consisted of primary particles with a diameter of 10 nm was prepared using sodium silicate and sulfuric acid as feedstocks in a micro-sieve reactor.These precipitation was dispersed in ethanol,silica with high fluffy was obtained after spray drying.It was found that because of the high mass transfer rate in this micro-reactor,the supersaturation ratio could reach very high,which was suitable for the formation of tiny primary particles.Fluffy was improved by spray drying,through rapidly evaporating solution of ethanol,porous flatting agent was prepared.When the final pH was equal to 8.5,the specific surface area of silica particles was 251.40 m2/g,pore volume of silica hydrated reached as high as 2.14 mL/g and the average pore size was 34.07 nm.Comparing the amorphous silica with commercial products prepared by fume method,it was found that their properties were close,however,this precipitation method greatly reduced the production cost.

Abstract:A novel process was developed for the preparation of highly dispersed precipitated nanosilica in a membrane dispersion reactor with H2SO4 and Na2SiO3 as the reactants. The particle size and extent of aggregation were significantly reduced by improving mixing performance and controlling the reaction environment. The effects of the surfactant and the final pH on the properties of the precipitated silica were investigated. By adding the surfactants sodium carboxymethylcellulose (CMC) and polyethyleneglycol (PEG) to the reaction system, silica precipitates with a surface area of 126.2 m(2)/g and primary particle size of approximately 20 nm were obtained. The dispersion index D-I at 1.12 and the coordination number between 1 and 2 indicate an effective dispersion performance of the obtained SiO2. This study provides a controllable, economical and easily scaled up method for the production of this important additive for the tire, paint and toothpaste industry. (C) 2014 Elsevier B.V. Abstract:Hydrophobic silica nanoparticles have been prepared by using hexadecyltrimethoxysilane as precausor of tetraethoxyorthosilicate with and without a crosslinking agent,3-glycidoxypropyltrimethoxysilane(GPTMS) and ammonium hydroxide as catalyst,ultrasonication as aid by sol-gel process.The chemical structure was characterized by FT-IR,particle size analyzer and TG-DTA.The results showed that the nanoparticles' diameter range in 30～50 nm and incorporation of GPTMS leads to improvement of the stability of the composite coating.After the limestone's surface was modified with this product,the contact angle of limestone increased from 20° to 93°.The protective performance evaluated with its ability of acid resistance reveals that the protective effects are satisfied.

Abstract:Using tetraethylorthosilicate (TEOS) as raw material, the microporous silica powder with pore size in the range of 1 nm to 20nm has been prepared by sol-gel method. The characteristics of different sol systems, effects of various catalysts, chemical additives and sintering temperatures of xerogel on microporous structure and size have been also investigated. By optimization of reaction conditions, the microporous silica powders with suitable pore sizes and BET surface area can be obtained. It can be used as nanometer sized microporous matrices in various high technical areas.

Abstract:In this study, porous macro- and micro-cellular wollastonite-based ceramics was synthesized. A ceramic precursor, methylhydrocyclosiloxane, together with micro-sized CaCO3, was used as a starting material. After 20min of ultrasound treatment, and calcination at 250°C for 30min, different pore-forming agents were added to the as-obtained powders. Differential thermal analysis was used to determine characteristic temperatures of processes occurring within powders during heating. Based on the obtained results, the sintering regime was set up. The prepared mixtures were pressed into pallets and sintered at 900°C. During the sintering regime, porous wollastonite-based ceramics was obtained. The phase composition of the sintered samples, as well as the microstructures, were analyzed by using X-ray diffraction and SEM. A two-phase system was detected in all samples, CaSiO3 wollastonite and Ca2SiO4 larnite, and their ratio varied with each pore-forming agent. It was observed that the addition of different pore-forming agents resulted in significantly different microstructures. In a batch test, the influence of pH, the contact time and the initial ion concentration on the adsorption efficiency of As+5, Cr+6and phosphate ions on the synthesized adsorbents were studied. Time-dependent adsorption is best described by the pseudo-second-order kinetic model and the Weber-Morris model, which predict intra-particle diffusion as a rate-controlling step of the overall process. High adsorption capacities, 21.93, 23.88, and 27.29mgg–1, were obtained for the CaCO3-siloxane-nanocellulose sorbent, and similar/lower capacities were obtained for the CaCO3-siloxane-PMMA and CaCO3-siloxane-cotton wool adsorbents.

Abstract:This study investigates the utilization of choline hydroxide as a cocatalyst in the Stöber method to synthesize silica particles with controlled microstructure. Under low ammonia concentration, we add a robust organic base choline hydroxide and systematically explore the influence of choline hydroxide concentration on the hydrolysis and condensation equilibrium of tetraethyl orthosilicate (TEOS). Through the rational control of the water content, we significantly enhance both the size range and polydispersity of the resulting silica particles. Taking advantage of the regulated microstructure induced by controlled hydrolysis and condensation catalyzed by choline hydroxide, we achieved silica particles with hollow structures through hot water etching, exhibiting significantly enhanced surface area. These findings demonstrate the versatility of choline hydroxide as a cocatalyst in tailoring the microstructure of silica particles. In addition, due to its reducing ability and biocompatibility, which are not shared by other reported catalysts, the use of choline hydroxide opens up opportunities for applications in catalysis, sensing, and drug delivery.

Abstract:The limited deposits of natural wollastonite in our country and the labor intensity of its extraction and processing, make promising the development of methods of its synthesis based on various types of domestic plant and fossil raw materials, especially industrial waste. The use of rice husk ash and calcium oxide in the solid-phase synthesis of calcium silicates ensures the content of β-wollastonite in their composition at the level of naturally-occurring Miwoll10-97. The obtained results indicate greater efficiency of amorphous silicon dioxide for the synthesis in the solid phase of calcium silicates. Synthetic calcium silicates, like naturally occurring wollastonite, have a pronounced alkaline surface nature, with the acid-base characteristics not influenced significantly by the sintering temperature, as well as the type and ratio of initial components. Calcium silicate produced from zeolite-siliceous rock has the smallest particle size and the narrowest particle size distribution, i.e. the most homogeneous structure. All investigated calcium silicates increase the wear resistance of epoxy materials, and low-porous silica sand-based fillers are more effective, providing high resistance of filled epoxy materials to climatic factors as well.
