Abstract:The anti-wear materials have been applied to many industrial fields in recent years, so more and more people begin to realize the significance of researching anti-wear materials. This paper summarizes several important developing thoughts of anti-wear materials by ana- lyzing their developing history, in order to act on the anti-wear materials' development and application in the future. The developing thoughts can be stated as followed, taking 'strong and tough matrix and hard grained carbide' as its microstructure development goals, the high manganese steel and its modification as one of emphases, and 'energy conservation and con- sumption reduction' as its struggling direction.

Abstract:In order to ensure the quality of beam castings, the casting process design of sand mold was carried out by selecting the thick wall guide rail facing down. Three-dimensional modeling was made by using Pro/E software, and solidification numerical simulation was carried out by using simulation software. Based on the simulation results, the scheme was optimized several times. Through reasonable design of riser and cold iron, the bottom-up sequential solidification was successfully realized. Finally, no shrinkage and porosity defects were found through simulation, and the ideal casting process was obtained.

Abstract:With complex structure and bad working environment, the shearer rocker arm as the main transmission parts of coal mining machine, has high requirements on the whole performance. The optimal process scheme and necessary technological measures were determined through repeated process analysis and parameters selecting. Finally the shearer rocker arms were produced successfully.

Abstract:From the perspective of reducing the carbon footprint, yield improvement is seeing global interest. One possibility to achieve this goal is to influence the volume of feed metal in the molds to achieve a sound casting. The largest volumes of risers are used in steels, so the research has focused on carbon steels for castings. Typically, to reduce the amount of molten metal in the riser, sleeves are used, such as exothermic and insulating ones. However, this is no longer sufficient, and therefore, blends of sleeves have been developed that perform both exothermic and insulating functions. The use of a new and innovative two-layer sleeves, combining the advantages of both layers (inner layer exothermic, outer layer insulating), proves to be highly effective. The conducted experiment compares this new approach with commonly used sleeves (exothermic, insulating, and exothermic—insulating). The utilization of riser metal using the new two-layer sleeve showed to be 8–10% higher compared to standard exo—iso mixed sleeves, and compared to single-layer inserts, the utilization of molten metal was 18–20% higher.

Abstract:The formidable and multivariate coal-mining conditions during the production often lead to various improper damage and inactivation of guide foot. Wear is the most severe problem. We do the research on optimization design of the materials by plasma cladding technic to improve the wear resistance: The Cr28MnV ferrous alloy overlay was deposited on the surface of 45# tempered steel backing. The martensitic structure with high strength, high hardness, and high abradability evenly distributed alloy carbide can be gained after cooling the overlay. The combined backing has a good obdurability which can satisfy the requirement of coal mine complex conditions after modifying treatment.

Abstract:This paper analyzes the problem of high reject rate caused by increasing the feeding riser at hot spot of the flywheel and disc casting in the original process,and states the aspects of casting structure features,problems in original process and advantages in current process,and introduces the runner size and position and molten iron influent way.The result shows that the casting without big riser or without riser at hot spot is practicable which has the positive significance in the specific work.

Abstract:Nowadays, one of the most significant tasks in production of equipment for mining industry is import substitution. In this regard, investigations aimed at improving the technologies of manufacturing high quality castings from wear resistance manganese austenitic steels seems to be relevant. The results of metallographic research of high manganese steel samples from foundries producing crushing plates and crushing cones, track links, hammers, shovel teeth, tooth caps etc. are given. Analysis of the microstructure of the presented castings showed that they are characterized by a coarse-grained structure with an austenite grain size of 1–2 points. In most cases, a thickened grain boundary, presence of manganese carbides along the grain boundaries and non-metallic inclusions are observed. The revealed mi-crostructure features of castings are one of the main indicators of low wear resistance of high manganese steel parts. The operational and technological factors affecting the wear resistance of castings are listed. Recommendations for improving the quality of steel products made from manganese steels are proposed, and the results of using original complex modifiers developed at NPP Technology Company in real manufacturing conditions are presented.

Abstract:Two kinds of technologies for KU-1004 casting from filling to solidification are analysed and compared based on ProCAST.Feeding system of top filling is optimized through adopting two waist risers,increasing the size of the risers according to modulus ratio and expanding the feeding access.The hot spots in the flange root are moved to the waist risers and the shrinkage and the porosity are avoided effectively.

Abstract:The lower mold of the liner of 250PNJ rubber pump, which demands limited machining tolerance on the non-gyration surface to be machined by hand, was produced by using the dry clay sand and the scraping board process. The requiring amount of the pouring molten steel can be limited to a relatively economized amount by using inner chills and risers. With this process the capacity of our melting system can meet the requiring with no need change.
Production of ZL205A Alloy Shell Castings by Low Pressure Casting

Abstract:The temperature field, shrinkage porosity (hole) in the ZL205A alloy shell castings during low pressure casting process were visualized through numerical simulation. The results show that the desirable temperature filed can be obtained and tendency of shrinkage porosity in the defect location of the shell can be reduced by using the chill and riser, adding the number of slit runners from eight to ten and decreasing the length of feeding distance from 200 mm to 157 mm. Comparison with the experimental results indicates that the scheme of chill combining with riser is reasonable and feasible.

Abstract:Improving the quality and reliability of machines is a necessary condition for the development of mechanical engineering. Most often, the main reason for the failure of machines is the wear of working parts. The reliability of the machines is ensured primarily by achieving high-quality materials of the working parts with the required level of mechanical properties.The short service life of parts reduces the economic efficiency of many machines and industrial equipment and results in irretrievable metal losses.Under conditions of wear that are not associated with large impact loads, white wear-resistant cast irons, which wear resistance is 5-10 times greater than structural steels, have shown themselves well.Grinding and the main processes of non-ferrous and ferrous metal ore-dressing, as well as coal, mining and chemical raw materials are associated with the need to process large volumes of ore slurry (pulps). For the implementation of complex dressing technological schemes at modern factories and the removal of refuse materials, centrifugal sand and soil pumps are widely used, the service life of which is limited. Impellers, bends, and sealing elements are the first to break down, resulting in significant repair costs and reduced productivity due to forced downtime [1-3].To replace worn out parts, it is necessary to remove the pumps from the operation, or install redundant pumps for the main technological stages, which takes up to 20-25 % of the productive time. If we take into account the fact that due to the wear of these parts, the pumps have lower productivity, then the total losses on a national scale are enormous.The low durability of the cast working parts of the pumps is related to the fact that the properties of used alloys do not always correspond to the operating conditions. But even parts made of the same cast iron composition and working under the same conditions have a different service life. This is due to the fact that changes in the concentrations of alloying elements within the grade composition strongly affect their properties [4-6].
Development of Casting Process for Thin Walled Complex-Precision Aluminum Alloy Castings

Abstract:The advantage and disadvantage as well as the development of sand casting,plaster casting and investment casting technologies for the production of thin walled complex-precision aluminum alloy castings are discussed.Recently,differential/adjusted pressure counter gravity sand casting process,silastic pattern-foamed plaster mold-low pressure casting process and Sophia investment casting process have been developed.There still is a gap between China and advanced countries though China has made great progress in the production of thin walled complex-precision aluminum alloy castings.

Abstract:A novel method to improve the feeding capacity of ZL205A alloy castings by pressure fluctuation during its solidification process under gravity field was proposed. The experiments were done in the graphite mould by applying the fluctuation pressure at the top of the riser. Results of the X-ray inspection of castings and simulations of flow velocity of alloy melt and temperature field show that the new method can effectively improve the feeding capacity and significantly reduce the shrinkage in the castings. The mechanism of improving the feeding capacity by pressure fluctuation is that the fluctuating pressure can make the ZL205A alloy melt form a vibration wave in the melt. The vibration wave can intensify the convection of the melt, and therefore, break down the barrage from the feeding channel which forms during the solidification process of the ZL205A alloy, improving the feeding capacity.

Abstract:The CC3 in Shouqin Steel is the world’s first bow type caster producing 400mm ultra-thick slabs.Many latest continuous casting technology have been in use,including: Mold Expert system,DynaFlex hydraulic oscillator,Dynacs 3D dynamic secondary cooling model,3D Sprays,DynaGap Soft Reduction,and so on.It shows that the transverse corner cracks and center segregations have been improved efficiently by using 3D Sprays and DynaGap Soft Reduction.And it could produce top-quality jumbo slabs on this caster.

Abstract:Ceramic particle reinforced iron matrix composites are one of the most promising wear resistant materials for tough conditions. Up to now, varieties of methods have been developed to fabricate this material, e. g. the infiltration casting process, which is especially beneficial to prepare the surface composite. Based on this method, a honeycomb structure of surface composite has been designed aiming to increase its toughness and interface strength. Moreover, zirconia toughened alumina (ZTA) is a perfect choice of reinforcement for wear resistant composite under high impact. The wettability between ZTA particle and iron matrix is a key factor to determine the performance of composite; the wettability can be improved by introducing active elements into their interface.

Abstract:<p>There has been tremendous interest in the development of different innovative wear‐resistant materials, which can help to reduce energy losses resulted from friction and wear by ≈40% over the next 10–15 years. This paper provides a comprehensive review of the recent progress on designs, properties, and applications of wear‐resistant materials, starting with an introduction of various advanced technologies for the fabrication of wear‐resistant materials and anti‐wear structures with their wear mechanisms. Typical strategies of surface engineering and matrix strengthening for the development of wear‐resistant materials are then analyzed, focusing on the development of coatings, surface texturing, surface hardening, architecture, and the exploration of matrix compositions, microstructures, and reinforcements. Afterward, the relationship between the wear resistance of a material and its intrinsic properties including hardness, stiffness, strength, and cyclic plasticity is discussed with underlying mechanisms, such as the lattice distortion effect, bonding strength effect, grain size effect, precipitation effect, grain boundary effect, dislocation or twinning effect. A wide range of fundamental applications, specifically in aerospace components, automobile parts, wind turbines, micro‐/nano‐electromechanical systems, atomic force microscopes, and biomedical devices are highlighted. This review is concluded with prospects on challenges and future directions in this critical field.</p>

Abstract:Using the reversible multilevel-speed electromagnetic stirrer,the slurry transfer tool and its coater,the thin plate sample with five steps and the rheocasting mould,all of which are independently developed,a new rheoforming processing of Al alloy with slurry preparation systems and component shaping systems apart was exploited.The results show that the semi-solid A356 alloy slurry with shape factor of about 0.85 and particle size of 70?80 μm(in air-cooling state) could be prepared in 20?25 s to fully meet the production rate of high pressure die casting.The slurry could be smoothly transferred from the slurry preparation equipment to the rheocasting shot chamber when the temperature of slurry is decreased by 3 ℃ or less,the tensile strength and elongation of the rheocasting samples can be increased respectively by 11.6%?18.2% and 42.5%?50% compared with the traditional liquid die casting ones.The rheoforming processing has close affinity with the traditional hot working processes.

Abstract:Aimed at improving wear-resisting material performance for reducing the an annual loss of millions of tons of materials due to wear,corrosion,and surface failure of industrial equipment and components,this paper is a dynamic metallurgical study of micro-mechanism of friction and wear by combining the macro phenomena of friction and wear with the micro-structural changes.The tribo-metallurgical study functions as the basic way to reveal the nature of metal material wear and makes for the selection and development of wear-resistant materials and wear-resistant treatment method.The tribo-metallurgical study of high-Cr,low-Cr and Cr-Mo-Cu cast irons suggests that the use of nano-modification technology provides a significant improvement in the microstructure and properties of chromium cast irons,especially in its wear resistance.

Abstract:In dredging engineering, the parts of dredging and conveying system which contact with dredging mixture often suffer from serious wear and short service life. In order to improve the durability of materials, new materials and generation processes are constantly proposed. It is always a difficult work to analyze the wear properties and mechanism of materials.In this paper, dry friction and abrasive wear tests were carried out on Cr15, Cr26, Fedur®40, medium manganese steel and XGG with Q235 carbon steel as the comparison material. The wear mechanism of materials was analyzed by scanning electron microscope (SEM) observation on the wear surface of materials. Under the test conditions, the dry friction wear rates of the five materials were 6.98×10 −6 mm 3 /Nm,5.71×10 −6 mm 3 /Nm,20.2×10 −6 mm 3 /Nm,21.9×10 −6 mm 3 /Nm and 5.39×10 −6 mm 3 /Nm respectively.The wear rates of abrasive wear tests were 58.3×10 −6 mm 3 /Nm,25.2×10 −6 mm 3 /Nm,83.4×10 −6 mm 3 /Nm,30.9×10 −6 mm 3 /Nm and 32.1×10 −6 mm 3 /Nm respectively. The results show that the metal surface is covered with coarse and deep cutting and chipping marks under abrasive wear, while the metal surface only has fine furrowing and a little fatigue spalling under dry friction wear. The wear rate of abrasive wear of five wear-resistant materials is much higher than that of dry friction wear. Cr26 and XGG showed better wear performance than other materials under the two test conditions.
