Abstract:A procedure for the 2-arylations of indolinone derivatives with diaryliodonium salts mediated by potassium tert-butoxide is developed. Various monoarylated indolinone derivatives are readily obtained in 24–70% yield via this method. The alkylation of monoarylated indolinone derivatives with allyl bromide or benzyl bromide affords the corresponding 2,3-disubstituted products in 60% and 70% yield, respectively.

Abstract:An efficient palladium-catalyzed intramolecular deacetylative dearomatization reaction of 3-acetoxyindoles has been developed. A range of tetracyclic indolin-3-ones bearing C2-quaternary stereocenters are achieved in good yields, showing a wide substrate scope for this reaction. A preliminary enantioselective reaction is established to furnish the product in 63% ee by using (R,R,R)-phosphoramide-PE as a chiral ligand.

Abstract:A method for the conversion of diazonium salts into intrinsically nucleophilic aryl indium reagents is described. The reaction is performed using indium(I) bromide with the C-In bond being formed by the interaction of aryl radicals with the indium salt. The obtained aryl indium(III) reagents work well in the Liebeskind-Srogl cross-coupling with thioesters, affording a wide variety of aryl ketones. This two-step transformation is a general method for the acylation of diazonium salts.
