Abstract:Pipe deformation from liquid storage pressure has important significance for the safety of pipeline engineering. However, previous studies have focused on the pipe deformation under surrounding forces. Theoretical results of strain distribution have been deduced based on elastic mechanics, and strain distribution equations are proposed, which are helpful to study fracture seepage characteristics. Experimental results show the effects of liquid storage pressure, the pipe diameter and the pipe length on the change of strain by the strain gauges pasted on acrylic pipes . The strain increases as a linear relationship with the increase of liquid storage pressure. When the pipeline length and the liquid storage pressure are 200 mm and 2000 kPa, respectively, the average strain at the middle of the pipe changes from 853 ×10-6 to 1579 ×10-6 corresponding to the diameter from 5 mm to 10 mm. At the same length, the greater the pipe diameter is, the strain of pipeline is greater for the diameter of 5 mm-10 mm. The average strain of the pipeline is substantially unchanged corresponding to diameter from 10 mm to 15 mm. When the pipeline diameter and the liquid storage pressure are 5 mm and 2000 kPa, respectively, the average strain at the middle of the pipe changes is 148×10-6 corresponding to the length from 200 mm to 600 mm. At the same diameter, when the pipe length is longer, the average strain does not change much. The law of strain is that the strain at the middle of the pipeline is the largest and gradually decreases to both sides. The theoretical and experimental results confirm the correctness of the pipeline deformation under liquid pressure. The research results can provide useful reference value for the study of pipeline flow in the future.
