Abstract:A novel protocol for the facile synthesis of chiral 3-substituted 1,3,4,5-tetrahydrobenzo[e] [1,4]diazepin-2-ones via a domino reaction has been developed, which involves a cascade of S(N)2 nucleophilic substitution and copper-catalyzed C-N coupling reactions of a-amino acid amides and orthohalobenzyl halides. This protocol has some merits, such as one-pot process, easy operation, a wide scope of substrates. Furthermore, no heavy racemization occurs during the reaction.

Abstract:A general and highly chemo-, regio-, and stereoselective synthesis of a,13-unsaturated aldehydes by a domino hydroformylation/aldol condensation reaction has been developed. A variety of olefins and aromatic aldehydes were efficiently converted into various substituted a,13-unsaturated aldehydes in good to excellent yields in the pres- ence of a rhodium phosphine/acid base catalyst system. In view of the easy availability of the substrates, the high atom-efficiency, the excellent selectivity, and the mild conditions, this method is expected to complement current methodologies for the preparation of a,beta-unsaturated aldehydes.

Abstract:We report the development of a straightforward, waste-reducing, environmentally friendly, Fe III -catalyzed domino aza-Michael/aldol/aromatization reaction in the presence of water to access high-value functionalized quinolines by using 2-aminobenzophenones and ethyl buta-2,3-dienoate as starting compounds. The tangible advantages, that is, the utilization of commercially available and/or easily accessible substrates, simplicity, mild reaction conditions, and application of water as a solvent, make this three-step domino process green and highly appealing for the direct construction of a wide variety of highly functionalized quinolines in up to 78% yield. Abstract:A new synthesis of diaryl sulfones is achieved from N,N'-disulfonylhydrazines and diaryliodonium salts. Its key advantage is that N,N'-disulfonylhydrazines carry out an efficient base-promoted evolution of nitrogen to generate in situ ammonium sulfinates with good solubility and high reactivity. N,N'-Disulfonylhydrazines prove to be an excellent synthetic equivalent of sulfinic acids and their salts with none of their drawbacks.

Abstract:A palladium‐catalyzed domino reaction of 2 azidosulfonamides and isocyanides enables the synthesis of 3‐amino‐substituted 1,2,4‐benzothiadiazine 1,1‐dioxides at room temperature. By applying commercially available Pd(dba)2 in catalyst loadings as low as 1.0 mol%, a variety of 21 differently substituted 2 H ‐1,2,4‐benzothiadiazine 1,1‐dioxides can be prepared within 2 h. Moreover, the developed protocol gives access to the related 4 H heterocycles.

Abstract:Novel cyclic fluorinated sulfoximines featuring an E-monofluoroalkenyl benzoisothiazole 1-oxide moiety as single diastereomers can be facilely accessed by Rh(III)-catalyzed redox-neutral [4+1] annulation of sulfoximines with α,α-difluoromethylene alkynes. The reaction proceeds with sequential selective cleavage of both a C-H and a C-F bond, thus endowing with high step and atom economy. Through a combined experimental and computational mechanistic study, the origin of annulative chemoselectivity, unconventional E-selectivity, and excellent diastereoselectivity have been revealed accordingly.

Abstract:An effective method for the synthesis of fully substituted 5-sulfonamidoimidazoles by Rh(II)-catalyzed transannulation of 1,2,4-oxadiazole derivatives with N-sulfonyl-1,2,3-triazoles is reported. The reaction works well with both aromatic 1,2,4-oxadiazoles and 1,2,4-oxadiazol-5-ones providing a flexible approach to N-(alkoxy/amino)carbonyl- and N-alkyl-substituted imidazoles. Both the disclosed reactions are completely regioselective and provide the first examples of a carbenoid-mediated transformation of N,N,O-heterocycles.

Abstract:A novel strategy for the catalyst-free domino cross-olefination and intramolecular cyclization of Morita-Baylis-Hillman carbonates with sulfur ylides has been established, resulting in the synthesis of 1,2-dihydroquinolines with a broad scope, excellent chemoselectivity, and high efficiency. Mechanistic experiments revealed the process of 1,1-dipole cross-olefination and highlighted the assistance of the amino group in achieving successful transformations.

Abstract:We have established a nickel-catalyzed domino reaction that harnesses sulfonamide, alkyl chloride, and alkyne functionalities in a multistep sequence to afford vinylcyclopropanes bearing tetrasubstituted olefins. The starting materials are prepared by iron-promoted aza-Prins reactions of ynals. This method provides rapid synthetic access to valuable building blocks with applications in medicinal chemistry. Experimental and computational results support the initiation of the catalytic cycle by oxidative addition of the propargylic sulfonamide, and a key ambiphilic allenylnickel intermediate leads to a bifurcated reaction pathway that generates olefin isomers.
