Abstract:By using Zn(CF3SO3)2 as the catalyst, series of 2-arylamino-3-buten-1-ols (3) were successfully synthesized via domino hydroamination-ring cleavage of 2,5-dihydrofuran (1) with aromatic amines (2). A proton-induced and Zn(CF3SO3)2-assisted mechanism is proposed on the experimental basis, during which the proton is generated by the interaction between aniline and Zn(CF3SO3)2.

Abstract:A Lewis-acid-promoted approach to the synthesis of highly functionalized dihydrobenzofuran derivatives was developed. A diverse range of functional groups are tolerated in this type of reaction. The reaction mechanism investigation indicates that the highly reactive phenyl cation intermediate is probably involved in this process. The chirality of substrate is retained under the reaction conditions.

Abstract:A highly regio- and stereoselctive palladium-catalyzed domino reaction of functionalized aryl allyl ethers has been developed. Various aryl allyl ethers derived from the phosphine-catalyzed addition of electron-deficient allenes with phenol are found to be efficient substrates for the synthesis of 2-substituted 2,3-dihydrobenzofurans and indolines. It is the first example of aryl allyl ether used as an ideal and practical precursor of hard to get functionalized 1,3-butadiene for the heterocyclic compound synthesis.

Abstract:A facile preparation of 3-aminofuran derivatives via multicomponent reactions of thiazole carbenes, aldehydes, and dimethyl acetylenedicarboxylate (DMAD) is reported. In this process, the thiazole carbenes, generated in situ from thiazolium salts, reacted with aldehydes and DMAD at -78 to 0 degrees C in CH2Cl2 to afford the substituted furans in moderate to good yields. Eight substituted thiazolium salts were employed as carbene precursors in the reaction. Besides aryl aldehydes, alpha beta-unsaturated aldehydes, aliphatic aldehydes, and arenedial were also investigated and found to be applicable to this reaction.

Various allenoate adducts of phosphine-catalyzed addition of allenoates are found to be efficient substrates for the preparation of 2,3-dihydrobenzofuran. Abstract:A facile and highly efficient three-component reaction of thiazole or benzothiazole carbenes, disubstituted ketenes, and activated alkynes is disclosed. With this methodology, a polysubstituted ring system containing furo[2,3-c]thiazepine core can be constructed from simple and readily accessible starting materials in good yields. The scope and limitation of this transformation were investigated in detail by using various thiazole carbene, ketene, and alkyne components. Furthermore, the synthetic utilities of these unique polyheterocyclic compounds were demonstrated via their Diels-Alder reactions with benzynes to furnish thiazepine-fused 7-oxanorbornadiene derivatives in excellent yields.

Abstract:The difluoromethyl-containing Hantzsch 1,4-dihydropyridines were synthesized in good yields by a one-pot cyclocondensation of ethyl difluoroacetoacetate (EDFAA), a variety of aromatic aldehydes and ammonium acetate under solvent and catalyst free conditions. The comparison of reaction conditions and products was made among the different 1,3-carbonyl substrates (ethyl acetoacetate, ethyl difluoroacetoacetate and ethyl trifluoroacetoacetate) for the Hantzsch reaction.

Abstract:A method to directly convert 2-alkynylphenols to 3,4-difunctionalized benzofurans and polycyclic benzofurans was developed. This protocol involves a hypervalent-iodine-mediated oxidative dearomatization to break the aromaticity of 2-alkynylphenols, and a palladium-catalyzed domino reaction to install two functional groups at the C3 and the C4 positions and restore the aromaticity of benzofurans.

Abstract:As a type of elementary organic compounds containing N-N single bond, hydrazone involved chemical conversions are extremely extensive, but they are mainly limited to N2-retention and N2-removal modes. We report herein an unprecedented protocol for the realization of division utilization of the N2-moiety of hydrazone by a radical facilitated N-N bond deconstruction strategy. This new conversion mode enables the successful combination of alkene carboamination and Hofmann-Löffler-Freytag reaction by the reaction of N-homoallyl mesitylenesulfonyl hydrazones with ethyl difluoroiodoacetate under photocatalytic redox neutral conditions. Mechanism studies reveal that the reaction undergoes a radical relay involving addition, crucial remote imino-N migration and H-atom transfer. Consequently, a series of structurally significant ε-N-sulphonamide-α,α-difluoro-γ-amino acid esters are efficiently produced via continuous C-C bond and dual C-N bonds forging.
