Abstract:As a type of elementary organic compounds containing N-N single bond, hydrazone involved chemical conversions are extremely extensive, but they are mainly limited to N2-retention and N2-removal modes. We report herein an unprecedented protocol for the realization of division utilization of the N2-moiety of hydrazone by a radical facilitated N-N bond deconstruction strategy. This new conversion mode enables the successful combination of alkene carboamination and Hofmann-Löffler-Freytag reaction by the reaction of N-homoallyl mesitylenesulfonyl hydrazones with ethyl difluoroiodoacetate under photocatalytic redox neutral conditions. Mechanism studies reveal that the reaction undergoes a radical relay involving addition, crucial remote imino-N migration and H-atom transfer. Consequently, a series of structurally significant ε-N-sulphonamide-α,α-difluoro-γ-amino acid esters are efficiently produced via continuous C-C bond and dual C-N bonds forging.

Abstract:Here, we reported for the first time a mechanistically distinctive cobalt-catalyzed Markovnikov-type sequential semihydrogenation/hydrohydrazidation of aliphatic terminal alkynes in one pot. A cobalt hydride species was employed as two roles for both a unique metal-catalyzed Markovnikov-type insertion of the aliphatic terminal alkynes and then metal-catalyzed hydrogen atom transfer of alkenes. This operationally simple protocol exhibits excellent functional group tolerance and step economy. The hydrazone products could be easily transferred to various valuable amine derivatives.

Abstract:By using Zn(CF3SO3)2 as the catalyst, series of 2-arylamino-3-buten-1-ols (3) were successfully synthesized via domino hydroamination-ring cleavage of 2,5-dihydrofuran (1) with aromatic amines (2). A proton-induced and Zn(CF3SO3)2-assisted mechanism is proposed on the experimental basis, during which the proton is generated by the interaction between aniline and Zn(CF3SO3)2.

Abstract:Highly regio- and enantioselective intermolecular hydroamination of alkenes is a challenging process potentially leading to valuable chiral amines. Hydroamination of alkenes via metal-catalyzed hydrogen atom transfer (HAT) with good regioselectivity and functional group tolerance has been reported, however, high enantioselectivity has not been achieved due to the lack of suitable ligands. Here we report a ligand-promoted cobalt-catalyzed Markovnikov-type selective radical hydroamination of alkenes with diazo compounds. This operationally simple protocol uses unsymmetric NNN-tridentate (UNT) ligand, readily available alkenes and hydrosilanes to construct hydrazones with good functional group tolerance. The hydrazones can undergo nitrogen-nitrogen bond cleavage smoothly to deliver valuable amine derivatives. Additionally, asymmetric intermolecular hydroamination of unactivated aliphatic terminal alkenes using chiral N-imidazolinylphenyl 8-aminoquinoline (IPAQ) ligands has also been achieved to afford chiral amine derivatives with good enantioselectivities.

Abstract:Diazo compounds had been widely employed as a class of environment friendly and highly efficient coupling reagents in transition-metal-catalyzed C-H bonds insertion reactions.Recently, C-H alkylation of various arenes and heteroarenes has been achieved enormous successes using diazo compounds as the alkylation reagents under a new catalytic model.The recent progress in diazo compounds mediated transition-metal-catalyzed C-H alkylation and tandem C-H alkylation/cyclization is reviewed, including reaction mechanism and synthetic applications.Furthermore, the prospects of this reaction are also discussed.

Abstract:Difluoroenoxysilane, a commonly used difluoroallylating reagent, has attracted considerable attention in recent years. However, its application in the annulation reaction for the construction of fluorinated heterocyclic compounds remains relatively limited. Presented here is the Bronsted acid-catalyzed efficient formal [4 + 2] annulation of difluoroenoxysilanes with alpha-cyano chalcones. The developed protocol demonstrates tolerance to various substituents under mild reaction conditions, providing a reliable approach to construct gem-difluoro-3,4-dihydro-2H-pyrans in good to excellent yields with high diastereoselectivities.

Abstract:We report herein an alkenylation of benzylic C(sp3)-H bonds with diazo compounds via carbon cation intermediates with DDQ as the oxidant in the presence of a catalytic amount of Fe(ii). Diphenylmethane, toluene, benzyl methyl sulfide and their derivatives could be applied as substrates to afford the tetra-substituted olefin products, which may serve as useful building blocks in organic synthesis.

Abstract:Catalytic olefin hydroamination reactions are some of the most atom-economical transformations that bridge readily available starting materials–olefins and high-value-added amines. Despite significant advances in this field over the last two decades, the formal hydroamination of nonactivated aromatic compounds remains an unsolved challenge. Herein, we report the extension of olefin hydroamination to aromatic π-systems by using arenophile-mediated dearomatization and Cu-catalysis to perform 1,2-hydroamination on nonactivated arenes. This strategy was applied to a variety of substituted arenes and heteroarenes to provide general access to structurally complex amines. We conducted DFT calculations to inform mechanistic understanding and rationalize unexpected selectivity trends. Furthermore, we developed a practical, scalable desymmetrization to deliver enantioenriched dearomatized products and enable downstream synthetic applications. We ultimately used this dearomative strategy to efficiently synthesize a collection of densely functionalized small molecules.

Abstract:We herein report a direct intermolecular anti-Markovnikov hydroazidation method for unactivated olefins, which is promoted by a catalytic amount of bench-stable benziodoxole at ambient temperature. This method facilitates previously difficult, direct addition of hydrazoic acid across a wide variety of unactivated olefins in both complex molecules and unfunctionalized commodity chemicals. It conveniently fills a synthetic chemistry gap of existing olefin hydroazidation procedures, and thereby provides a valuable tool for azido-group labeling in organic synthesis and chemical biology studies.

Abstract:A highly efficient P-stereogenic diphosphine-rhodium complex was applied to the chemo- and enantioselective hydrogenation of allylic hydrazones for the synthesis of chiral allylic hydrazines in 89-96 % yields and with 82-99 % ee values. This methodology was successfully applied to the preparation of versatile chiral allylic amine derivatives.

Abstract:Organic diazo compounds are versatile reagents in chemical synthesis and would benefit from improved synthetic accessibility, especially for larger scale applications. Here, we report a mild method for the synthesis of diazo compounds from hydrazones using a heterogeneous Fe-N-C catalyst, which has Fe ions dispersed within a graphitic nitrogen-doped carbon support. The reactions proceed readily at room temperature using O2 (1 atm) as the oxidant. Aryl diazoesters, ketones, and amides are accessible, in addition to less stable diaryl diazo compounds. Initial-rate data show that the Fe-N-C catalyst achieves faster rates than a heterogeneous Pt/C catalyst. The oxidative dehydrogenation of hydrazones may be performed in tandem with Rh-catalyzed enantioselective C-H insertion and cyclopropanation of alkenes, without requiring isolation of the diazo intermediate. This sequence is showcased by using a flow reactor for continuous synthesis of diazo compounds.

Abstract:A novel and efficient copper-catalyzed domino cyanation/cyclization of hydrazone-tethered unactivated olefins has been developed. A range of cyano-containing pyrazolines have been easily obtained in good yields under mild conditions. This method provides a facile, practical, and rapid access to valuable pyrazolines with the important cyano functionality, and it is amenable for gram scale synthesis. The simultaneous formation of C(sp(3))-CN and C-N bonds can be achieved in a single step.

Abstract:A rhodium-catalyzed one-pot hydroformylation of olefins with CO2 , hydrosilane, and H2 has been developed that affords the aldehydes in good chemoselectivities at low catalyst loading. Mechanistic studies indicate that the transformation is likely to proceed through a tandem sequence of poly(methylhydrosiloxane) (PMHS) mediated CO2 reduction to CO and a conventional rhodium-catalyzed hydroformylation with CO/H2 . The hydrosilylane-mediated reduction of CO2 in preference to aldehydes was found to be crucial for the selective formation of aldehydes under the reaction conditions.

Abstract:A solvent-controlled Rh(III)-catalyzed mono- and dual-C-H bond activation/carbene migratory insertion with diazo compounds as a single coupling partner was demonstrated. The reaction proceeded under mild conditions, yielding products in good to excellent yields. These results are significant for the development of the domino multiple functionalization of C(sp2)-H bonds via a carbenoid insertion approach.
