Abstract:TiO2 nanoparticles on SiO2 surface were prepared by adsorption phase nanoreactor technique at different temperature to study the effect of temperature on adsorption and reaction in preparation procedures. Electronic energy spectrum and X-ray diffractometer (XRD) indicated there was a sharp decrease both in TiO2 quantity curve and in grain size curve between 40-60°C. In the transmission electron microscope (TEM) picture, samples manifested two characteristics: uniform covered black regions on silica and few single image with diameter of several tens of nanometers. Based on the characteristics of adsorption on silica surface, the phenomenology theory dealing with formation of adsorption layer and its variation with temperature, as well as the reaction in them was proposed. It was deduced that the adsorption layer was heterogeneous in normal and tangential direction. In normal direction, the adsorbing molecular occupied two states of chemical-adsorption and physical-adsorption, which corresponded to the two flattened ranges in the TiO2 quantity curve. On the other hand, the unequal thickness distribution of adsorption layer in tangential direction resulted in the size distribution of nanoparticles.

Abstract:Nanostructured spinel(Ni_(0.2)Zn_(0.6)Cu_(0.2)Fe_2O_4) powders were fabricated by a citrate precursor sol-gel method.The original particle size was dominated by different calcining temperature.The nanocrystal powders can be sintered by different sintering methods under a low temperature(≤950℃).The sintering behavior,microstructures and electromagnetic properties of ferrite ceramics were investigated by X-ray diffractometer(XRD),transmission electron microscope(TEM),scanning electron microscope(SEM) and measurements of permeability and resistivity.The effect of particle size on sintering,microstructure and electromagnetic properties were obtained,and we achieved high performance NiCuZn ferrite with ultrafine microstructure and high initial permeability of up to 1000 and DC resistivity above 10~(10)Ω·cm.

Abstract:Mono-disperse Ni0.5Zn0.5Fe2O4 spinel ferrite particles have been synthesized directly via the hydrothermal method using sodium dodecyl sulfate (SDS) as surfactant. Particle size could be varied from 6 to 19nm by changing the experiment parameters. X-ray diffraction, high resolution TEM images confirmed the high crystallinity of ferrite nanocrystals. The effects of precursor suspension pH value, reaction temperature and surfactant (SDS) concentration on phase purity, particle size and dispersed property were discussed. The results indicated that mono-disperse Ni0.5Zn0.5Fe2O4 spinel ferrite nanoparticle had been obtained at pH value range (8–9), reaction temperature (90°C) and moderate SDS concentration (>0.2mM). The magnetic measurement shows that as prepared Ni0.5Zn0.5Fe2O4 nanoparticle possesses good super-paramagnetic behavior. We also put forward a primary experimental model to shed light on the controllability of the monodispersity of the nanosized particles.

Abstract:NiCo2O4 spinel oxide was prepared through the hydroxide coprecipitation method. The NiCo2O4 powders were analyzed by TGA, XRD, BET, SEM, and EDS. And the electrocatalytic properties of NiCo2O4/Ni electrode for oxygen evolution in alkaline solution were evaluated by cyclic voltammetry, roughness factor, Tafel curves and stability testing. The result shows that the preparation temperature can affect the formation, specific surface area, morphologies, and electrocatalytic properties of NiCo2O4 spinel oxide. It is also found that NiCo2O4/Ni electrode prepared at 300°C has better electrocatalytic properties in oxygen evolution reaction than those prepared at other temperatures.

Abstract:In the process of synthesizing Ni0.35Zn0.65Fe2O4 ferrite powder by SHS (self-propagating high-temperature synthesis) method, the effects of Fe content, oxygen pressure, grain size and relative density of the raw materials on combustion temperature and combustion wave velocity were investigated. XRD, TEM and VSM were used to characterize the microstructure and magnetic properties of the products. This ferrite powder has homogeneous grain size and good magnetic properties.

Abstract:Ni0.25Cu0.55Zn0.20Fe2O4 nano ferrite was synthesized using sonochemical method. The as-synthesized nano ferrite was sintered at different (200 °C, 400 °C, 600 °C, and 800 °C) sintering temperature and characterized using various characterization techniques. Identification of the phase was studied using X-ray diffraction. Rietveld refinement confirmed a single-phase cubic spinel structure with Fd3m space group. Average crystallite size and micro strain were estimated using Williamson-Hall plot. FTIR reveals that with the increase in the sintering temperature there is shift in the tetrahedral and octahedral band position. FESEM and TEM images revealed the nanocrystals exhibit irregular shapes which transformed into cubic and hexagonal morphology with the increase in the sintering temperature. The EDAX was employed to confirm the elemental composition of the synthesized Ni0.25Cu0.55 Zn0.20Fe2O4 nano ferrite. The optical behaviour of Ni0.25Cu0.55 Zn0.20Fe2O4 nano ferrite sintered at different temperature was characterized by UV-Diffuse reflectance studies (UV-DRS). Formation of spinel ferrite and distribution of cations at different sintering temperature in Ni0.25Cu0.55 Zn0.20Fe2O4 nano ferrite were determined using Raman spectroscopy. Saturation magnetization (Ms), remanence (Mr), coercivity (Hc), squareness ratio (Mr/Ms), magnetic moment (nB), and anisotropy constant (K) increases with the increase in temperature (200 °C, 400 °C and 600 °C) except 800 °C. Zero field cooling (ZFC), field cooling (FC), and blocking temperature (Tb) were also measured. The blocking temperature (Tb) indicate that the Ni0.25Cu0.55 Zn0.20Fe2O4 nano ferrite exhibit superparamagnetic behaviour, making them suitable for biomedical applications.

Abstract:Temperature is one of the key parameters in the synthesis of a system of magnetic nanoparticles and can affect considerably the arrangement of atoms in the crystal structure. Consequently, the magnetic, elastic, and structural properties are strongly impacted. In the magnetically soft NiFe 1.8 O 4 spinel ferrite, the relative number of Ni and Fe ions in each of the two possible different geometries, tetrahedral (T) and octahedral (O), is of extreme importance. In this work, this material was studied on products of co-precipitation synthesis followed by a temperature dependent sintering. We performed 57 Fe Mössbauer spectroscopy (MS), X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning and transmission electron microscopies (SEM and TEM), X-ray absorption spectroscopy (XAS) using synchrotron radiation at Ni K- and L 2 -edge, and vibrating sample magnetometry (VSM) measurements. From XAS measurements it was found that Ni atoms prefer an octahedral coordination when the sintering temperature is increased. MS showed that the T-sites are more populated by Fe ions than the O-sites, a fact that can be explained by the presence of Fe ion vacancies in the O- sites. However, as the sintering temperature increases, we found that there is also a migration of Fe atom to the O-sites. Additionally, based on MS measurements in 78–292 K region, we estimated the Debye temperatures of the Fe ions in the tetra- and octahedral geometries and found that the recoiless f -factor depends on the sintering temperature of the nickel ferrite powders. The ratio f O / f T is about 0.98 and 0.95 at room temperature for the samples sintered at 1000 °C and 600 °C, respectively.

High-temperature Solid State Synthesis and Characterization in Magnetic and Transporting Properties of Zn_xFe_(3-x)O_4 Powder

Abstract:Zn-doped magnetite Fe3O4 samples were prepared at different doped concentrations and annealed at high temperature in ambient air and N2 respectively.X-ray diffraction(XRD)results showed that samples annealed in air were oxidized and the consequent products were partially in α-Fe2O3 form.While for the samples annealed in N2,ZnxFe3-xO4 products of high purity were obtained.The doping of Zn2+ on the tetrahedral sites(A sites)changed the valence distribution of Fe2+ ions on the octahedral sites(B sites).The electron transporting mechanism remained to be variable range hopping(VRH)conduction.Measurement results of magnetic properties indicated that the super exchange coupling interaction between Fe2+ ions was affected by the low doping concentration of Zn2+ ions in the crystal,and the negative magnetoresistivity of ZnxFe3-xO4 was improved as well.

Abstract:The as-prepared Ni0.5Zn0.5Fe2O4 powders fabricated directly from the solution of metal nitrates by the refluxing method were testified by the analysis of XRD, TEM, SAED and HRTEM. XRD pattern indicated that obtained Ni0.5Zn0.5Fe2O4 powders were single phase with spinel structure, TEM analysis showed that the powders with cubic shape were uniform in particle size of about 10-20 nm. Ceramics prepared by the assynthesized Ni0.5Zn0.5Fe2O4 powders sintered at various temperatures between 950 degrees C and 1150 C for 2 h were observed by SEM technique, which indicated that the Ni0.5Zn0.5Fe2O4 ferrites can almost be sintered to theoretic density at 1100 degrees C for 2 h, lower by at least about 200 degrees C compared with those ferrites prepared by the conventional oxide method. The relative magnetic loss tan delta/mu(i) of the ceramic samples sintered at the temperature 1050 degrees C was measured to be of the order of 10(-4)-10(-5) in the frequency range from 1 MHz to 10 MHz, and the threshold frequency of the ferrites was 77.2 MHz. Abstract:Spinel ferrite compounds continue to receive a lot of attention due to their unique properties. Among the numerous synthesis routes existing, the solid-state method was applied for the production of nickel ferrite, by introducing the use of a quartz vial. A mixture of nickel oxide (NiO) and hematite (Fe2O3) was ground and vacuum-sealed in the vial and different thermal treatment programs were tested. The resulting particles were characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and Raman spectroscopy. For temperatures, below 1000 °C, the solid-state reaction is not complete as nickel oxide (NiO) and hematite (Fe2O3) are still present. The reaction time is a decisive parameter for the morphology of the particles obtained. If, for different reaction times, the particle size distribution is always between 0.3 and 1.7 μm, a longer reaction time leads to the formation of dense, interconnected clusters of particles. Optimal parameters to synthesize a pure phase of spherical nickel ferrite were sought and found to be a reaction temperature of 1000 °C for 72 h.

Abstract:Effects of the silica content and temperature on the magnetic properties of Ni0.5Zn0.5Fe2O4/SiO2 nanocomposites have been studied by electron paramagnetic resonance (EPR) technique. The peak-to-peak linewidth (ΔHPP), g factor and spin number (NS), measured at room temperature, decreased with increasing SiO2 content, while the spin–spin relaxation time (T2) increased. Furthermore, these parameters (ΔHPP, g factor, NS and T2) were measured as function of temperature. The ΔHPP, g factor and NS decreased with increasing temperature whereas the T2 increased.

Abstract:When nickel aluminate spinel was prepared by solid-state reaction, an excess of NiO in products was observed, which was explained as the result of Al2O3 dissolving into spinel at high temperature. To reduce NiO and improve the formation of NiAl2O4, four factors were investigated in this study. The results showed that the milling time and starting materials had an important effect on the excess of NiO while the sintering temperature and sintering time had little effect on it.

Abstract:The Ni0.3Cu0.2Zn0.5Fe2O4 nanofibers with diameters of around 100 nm were successfully fabricated by sol-gel method combined with electrospinning technology. The as-spun polymer/inorganic composite nanofibers and calcined products were characterized by means of thermogravimetric and differential thermal analysis (TG-DTA), X-ray powder diffraction (XRD), fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR), field emission scanning electron microscopy (FE-SEM), transmission electron microscopy (TEM) and vibrating sample magnetometer (VSM). The experimental results showed that the pure spinet structure was basically formed when the composite nanofibers were calcined at 450 degrees C for 2 h. With the increase of calcination temperature, the nanofiber surface became much rougher and the nanofiber morphology gradually changed toward the necklace-like structure along with the growth of Ni0.3Cu0.2Zn0.5Fe2O4 grains contained in the nanofibers. At the same time, the specific saturation magnetization (M-s) of nanofibers monotonously increased, while the coercivity (H-c) initially increased, reached a maximum value at about 650 degrees C, and then decreased with further increasing calcination temperature, indicating that the single-domain critical size of Ni0.3Cu0.2Zn0.5Fe2O4 in the form of nanofibers may be around 53 nm. Furthermore, the relationship between the coercivity of Ni0.3Cu0.2Zn0.5Fe2O4 nanofibers and the mean grain size (D) was analyzed in a D range below the single-domain critical size. It was found that H-c of these nanofibers varied as D-0.71, which was in good agreement with the predicted D-2/3 dependence of H-c on the basis of the random anisotropy model.

Abstract:The effects of particle size (2-6 nm) and temperature (300-1900 K) on the stability and local structural evolutions of amorphous bulk and nanoparticles of the FeNi3 alloys have been studied by using classical molecular dynamics (MD) simulation method combined with embedded atom model (EAM) in Largescale Atomic/Molecular Massively Parallel Simulator (LAMMPS). The nanoparticles were obtained from the unstable amorphous bulk FeNi3 alloys. MD simulations have been performed for glassy FeNi3 intermetallic alloy by making use of pairwise interatomic interaction potentials and electron densities calculated via EAM method. The formation and evolution of structures and their stability have been analyzed at a wide temperature range (300-1900 K) by calculating radial distribution functions (RDF), interatomic distances (ID), coordination numbers (CN), core-to-surface concentration profiles, as well as Voronoi analysis. According to the results, although some deviations in the structural properties occurred during the heat treatment, the amorphous nanoparticles exhibited the same crystal structure and local atomic configuration with its bulk counterpart at room temperature.

Abstract:The tested samples prepared by adding 0.5% nano-Fe powder to coarse Fe-based powder,and ball-milling the mixed powder violently were sintered respectively at 600,650,700,750,800,850 and 920 ℃ for 20 min.The morphology of the tested samples was observed by TEM and SEM.The results show that the sintering temperature of the samples decrease 260 ℃ with the addition of nano-Fe powder,which is due to that nano-Fe powder with high activity and low melting point adsorbs,dissolves and diffuses rapidly at the interface of coarse Fe-base powder particle.
Effect of reaction condition on microstructure and properties of (NiCuZn)Fe2O4 nanoparticles synthesized via co-precipitation with ultrasonic irradiation

Abstract:Nano-spinel ferrites synthesized via chemical co-precipitation method are small in size and have serious agglomeration phenomenon, which makes separation difficult in the subsequent process. Ni0.4Cu0.2Zn0.4Fe2O4 ferrites nanoparticles were synthesized via co-precipitation assisted with ultrasonic irradiation produced by ultrasonic cleaner with 20 kHz frequency using chlorinated salts and KOH as initial materials. The effects of ultrasonic power (0, 40 W, 60 W, 80 W) and reaction temperature on the microstructure and magnetic properties of ferrite nanoparticles were investigated. The structure analyses via XRD revealed the successful formation of pure (NiCuZn)Fe2O4 ferrites nanospinel without any impurity. The crystallites sizes were less than 40 nm and the lattice constant was near 8.39 Å. The TEM showed ferrite particle polygonal. M-H analyses performed the saturation magnetization and coercivity of ferrite nanoparticles obtained at the reaction temperature of 25℃ were higher than at 50℃ with same power. The samples exhibited the highest values of Ms 55.67 emu/g at 25℃ and 47.77 emu/g at 50℃ for 60 W and the lowest values of Hc 71.23 Oe at 25℃ for 40 W and 52.85 Oe at 50℃ for 60 W. The squareness ratio (SQR) were found to be lower than 0.5, which revealed the single magnetic domain nature (NiCuZn)Fe2O4 nanoparticles. All the outcomes show the ultrasonic irradiation has positive effects on improving the microstructure and increasing magnetic properties.
Effect of Heat Treatment Processing on Static Magnetism Properties of Spinel Ni0.5Zn0.45Co0.05Fe2O4

Abstract:Spinel Ni0.5Zn0.45Co0.05Fe2O4 nano-particles were prepared using sol-gel method, then heat treated with three different processes. The static magnetism properties were measured by VSM. The results show that increasing heat treated temperature and prolonging heat treated time can do contribution to the improvement of magnetic property. When heat treated in 800℃ for 8h, the material shows high saturation magnetization(Ms=73.261 emu/g) and initial permeability(μi=0.210emu/Oe*g), low coercivity (Hc=30.241Oe). In this work, the effect of magnetic heat treatment on the improvement of static magnetism properties was also studied. The magnetic heated treatment for Ni0.5Zn0.45Co0.05Fe2O4 ferrite could improve its static magnetism properties, the material obtained exhibits high saturation magnetization (Ms=83.839emu/g) even heat treated at relatively low temperature(600℃ for 2h).

Abstract:The center of this work is to interpret the role of particle sizes of starting oxides on the properties of spinel-type Mn1.1Co1.5Fe0.4O4 negative temperature coefficient ceramics. Investigations were conducted using the traditional solid-state reaction route. The optimized microstructure of Mn1.1Co1.5Fe0.4O4 ceramics was achieved by utilizing the appropriate proportion of micron- and nano-sized particles. Distortion of the [MnO6] octahedron and the effects of grain sizes generate significant changes in resistivity while without inducing many changes in the B25/50 value (3700 K). Aging analysis indicates that the use of nano-sized particles deteriorates the stability of Mn1.1Co1.5Fe0.4O4 ceramics, i.e., the ΔR/R0 hugely increases from 0.5% to 15.1% after accelerated aging at 200 °C for 800 h. This work will provide clear guidance for the selection of raw materials from the actual research to the production process.
