One of the fundamental problems in Finlser geometry is to study and characterize Finsler metrics of constant flag curvature because Finsler metrics of constant flag curvature are the natural extension of Riemannian metrics of constant sectional curvature.

Abstract:In this paper, the Douglas curvature of (α,β)-metrics, a special class of Finsler metrics defined by a Riemannian metric αand a 1-form β, is studied. These metrics with vanishing Douglas curvature in dimension n≥3 are classified by using a new class of metrical deformations called β-deformations. The result shows that conformal 1-forms of Riemannian metrics play a key role, and an effective way to construct such 1-forms is provided also by β-deformations.

Abstract:A Finsler metric F is said to be spherically symmetric if the orthogonal group O(n) acts as isometries of F. In this paper, we show that every spherically symmetric Finsler metric of isotropic Berwald curvature is a Randers metric. Abstract:AbstractIn this paper, we study the warped structures of Finsler metrics. We obtain the differential equation that characterizes Finsler warped product metrics with vanishing Douglas curvature. By solving this equation, we obtain all Finsler warped product Douglas metrics. Some new Douglas Finsler metrics of this type are produced by using known spherically symmetric Douglas metrics.

Abstract:International Journal of Geometric Methods in Modern Physics, Ahead of Print. In this paper, we characterize a class of singular Douglas [math]-metrics [math] determined by [math] on a two-dimensional manifold [math], where [math], [math] is a Riemannian metric and [math] is a 1-form on [math]. When [math] and under certain conditions about [math], we show that any such a metric is a Douglas metric if and only if it is a Finsler metric derived from a [math]-transformation of an [math]-Kropina metric. For such a special class of singular [math]-metrics, we further completely determine their local structure when they are, respectively, Douglasian and locally projectively flat. In particular, we show that a Kropina metric is always Douglasian and a Douglas [math]-Kropina metric with [math] is locally Minkowskian on a two-dimensional manifold. The main results in this paper are quite different from the results in the higher dimension case.

Abstract:In this paper, we investigate the spherically symmetric Finsler metrics with isotropic S-curvature and obtain a characterized equation. As an application, we prove that these metrics with Douglas type must be Randers metrics or Berwald metrics. This result leads to two classification theorems.

Abstract: In this paper, we classify the spherically symmetric Berwald metrics in $\mathbb{R}^n$. For the spherically symmetric Landsberg metrics, we prove that there do not exist any non-Berwald metrics among the regular case. The partial differential equation systems which can respectively characterize the spherically symmetric Finsler metrics with constant flag curvature and Einstein metrics of this type is also obtained. Utilizing these equations, we find an effective way to construct the non-projective, non-Randers Finsler metrics with constant flag curvature and many explicit examples are given by this method.

Abstract:Square metrics F=(α +β )^2/α are a special class of Finsler metrics. It is the rate kind of metric category to be of excellent geometrical properties. In this paper, we discuss the so-called singular square metrics F=(bα +β )^2/α . A characterization for such metrics to be of vanishing Douglas curvature is provided. Abstract:Spherically symmetric metrics and Randers metrics form two rich classes of Finsler metrics. In this paper, we find an equation that characterizes pointwise projectively related spherically symmetric metrics. Some applications are given. In particular, by using known spherically symmetric metrics, we produce a lot of Randers metrics of quadratic Weyl curvature which are non-trivial in the sense that they are not of Weyl type.

Abstract:In this paper, we study a class of Finsler metrics, called generalized Douglas–Weyl (GDW) metrics, which includes Douglas metrics and Weyl metrics. We find a sufficient and necessary condition for an orthogonally invariant Finsler metric to be a GDW-metric. As its application, we show that a certain class of Finsler metrics with orthogonal invariance are Douglas metrics if they are GDW-metrics, generalized a theorem previously only known in the case of Weyl metrics.
