Abstract:Let A and B be standard operator algebras on infinite dimensional complex Banach spaces X and Y, respectively, and let Φ be an additive surjection from A onto B. We prove that if Φ is unital and preserves any one of (left, right) invertibility, (left, right) zero divisors, (left, right) topological divisors of zero, quasi-affinity, injectivity, surjectivity, range density, lower-boundedness and left (right) maximal ideals in both directions, then it has one of the following forms: isomorphism, conjugate isomorphism, anti-isomorphism and conjugate anti-isomorphism. We also show that Φ preserves zero products in both directions if and only if Φ is either an isomorphism or a conjugate isomorphism.

Abstract:Let A and B be standard operator algebras on infinite dimensional complex Banach spaces X and Y, respectively, and let Φ be a unital additive surjection from A onto B. We introduce thirteen parts of the spectrum for elements in A and B, and prove that if Φ preserves any one of these parts of the spectrum, then it is either an isomorphism or an anti-isomorphism.

Abstract:Let x and y be two elements in an algebra.If x and y satisfy the algebraic relation xy=ξyx for some scalarξ,then x and y are commutative up to a factorξ.This paper first gives a characterization of unital additive surjections between standard operator algebras on real or complex Banach spaces which preserve commutativity up to a factor in both directions.A structure theorem for bounded linear surjections preserving commutativity up to a factor between C*-algebras is also obtained.

It is shown that a surjective additive map Φ from ℬ(X) ontoitself preserves similarity in both directions if and only if there exist a scalar c, a bounded invertiblelinear or conjugate linear operator A and a similarity invariant additive functional φ on ℬ(X) suchthat either Φ(T) = cATA −1 + φ(T)I for all T, or Φ(T) = cAT*A −1 + φ(T)I for all T. In the casewhere X has infinite multiplicity, in particular, when X is an infinite–dimensional Hilbert space, theabove similarity invariant additive functional φ is always zero.

Abstract:Let X be a Banach space of dimension ≥ 2 over the real or complex field F and A a standard operator algebra in B ( X ). A map Φ: A → A is said to be strong 3-commutativity preserving if [Φ( A ), Φ( B )] 3 = [ A , B ] 3 for all A , B ∈ A , where [ A , B ] 3 is the 3-commutator of A , B defined by [ A , B ] 3 = [[[ A , B ], B ], B ] with [ A , B ] = AB − BA . The main result in this paper is shown that, if Φ is a surjective map on A , then Φ is strong 3-commutativity preserving if and only if there exist a functional h : A →F and a scalar λ ∈ F with λ 4 = 1 such that Φ( A ) = λ A + h ( A ) I for all A ∈ A .

Abstract:Let X be a (real or complex) Banach space with dimension greater than 2 and let ℬ 0 ( X ) be the subspace of ℬ( X ) spanned by all nilpotent operators on X . We get a complete classification of surjective additive maps Φ on ℬ 0 ( X ) which preserve nilpotent operators in both directions. In particular, if X is infinite–dimensional, we prove that Φ has the form either Φ( T ) = cATA −1 or Φ( T ) = cAT'A −1 , where A is an invertible bounded linear or conjugate linear operator, c is a scalar, T' denotes the adjoint of T . As an application of these results, we show that every additive surjective map on ℬ( X ) preserving spectral radius has a similar form to the above with | c | = 1.

Abstract:Let Φ:A→B be an additive surjective map between some operator algebras such that AB+BA=0 implies Φ(A)Φ(B)+Φ(B)Φ(A)=0. We show that, under some mild conditions, Φ is a Jordan homomorphism multiplied by a central element. Such operator algebras include von Neumann algebras, C∗-algebras and standard operator algebras, etc. Particularly, if H and K are infinite-dimensional (real or complex) Hilbert spaces and A=B(H) and B=B(K), then there exists a nonzero scalar c and an invertible linear or conjugate-linear operator U:H→K such that either Φ(A)=cUAU−1 for all A∈B(H), or Φ(A)=cUA∗U−1 for all A∈B(H).

Abstract:In this paper, we study additive maps f:A→A on an alternative Cayley-Dickson algebra A satisfying the product preserving property: f(x)f(y)=m whenever xy = k , where k and m are constant elements of A . We prove that f may be written as a multiple of a Jordan homomorphism. Unlike in the associative case, Jordan homomorphisms of strictly alternative division rings need not be homomorphisms or anti-homomorphisms, but we provide necessary and sufficient conditions for this to occur. We then extend these ideas to split alternative Cayley-Dickson algebras of characteristic not 2 and present some open questions when k or m is noninvertible. The final section handles the problem k=m=0 and generalizes to biadditive maps that preserve the zero product.

Abstract:Commutativity up to a factor is one of the invariants of isomophisms among operator algebras.The study of the question that whether the converse proposition holds true is helpful to understand the relations between commutativity up to a factor and the algebraic as well as the geometric properties of operator algebras.By using some techniques in operator theory,without the assumption that maps are unit-preserving,it is shown that every subjective additive map among the whole infinite dimensional Hilbert operator algebras that preserves commutativity up to a factor is a scalar multiple of an isomorphism,or(in some situations) a conjugate isomorphism or a conjugate anti-isomorphism.

Abstract:Let H be a complete indefinite inner product space of infinite dimension over real or complex field.A characterization of indefinite semi-orthogonality preserving additive surjection in both directions on unital +-subalgebras of B(H)which contains all finite rank operators is obtained.We show that such maps have the formΦ(T)=UTV,VT,where U and V are invertible linear or conjugate linear bounded operators with UU~+=cI for some nonzero real constant c.As a corollary,semi-orthogonality preserving additive surjections in both directions on unital *-subalgebra which contains all finite rank operators over Hilbert space are classified.
