Abstract:Let J and J' be Jordan rings. We prove under some conditions that if J contains a nontrivial idempotent, then n-multiplicative maps and n-multiplicative derivations from J to J' are additive maps.

Abstract:In this paper, we show that the multiplicative derivations on J(α) -axial algebras, with α≠1,0,12 , are additive under suitable conditions, which nowadays are called Martindale-type conditions. Besides, with proper assumptions, we proceed to study the additivity of multiplicative isomorphisms and derivations in the context of M(α,β) -axial algebras, except for multiplicative derivations when β=12 . In this case, we mention a research question at the end.

Abstract:In this paper, we generalize ordinary derivation and Jordan derivation of a ring to the concepts of P-derivation and P-Jordan derivation of a ring respectively. Some properties, e.g. the composition of P-derivations and P-Jordan derivations, are given. Moreover, it proved that if R/P(R) is 2-torsion free for a ring R and its prime radical P(R), P-Jordan derivations of R are P-derivations. More mainly, some conclusions on the commutativity of R/I and R/P(R) are obtained via P-derivations and P-Jordan derivations, for a prime ideal I of R.

In this paper, it is shown that if a mapping [math] satisfies Φ((A ◇ B) ◇ C) = (Φ(A) ◇ B) ◇ C + (A ◇ Φ(B)) ◇ C + (A ◇ B) ◇ Φ(C),(0.1) or Φ((A ∗ B) ∗ C) = (Φ(A) ∗ B) ∗ C + (A ∗ Φ(B)) ∗ C + (A ∗ B) ∗ Φ(C)(0.2) for all [math], where [math] and [math], then [math] preserves self-adjoint elements. Therefore, the two relations (0.1) and (0.2) will be equivalent for every [math] and [math]. This result makes possible to unify the conclusions in a single statement which implies the above two results. In fact, it is shown that if a map [math] satisfies the conditions in (0.1) or (0.2) for every [math] and [math], then [math] is an additive ∗-derivation.

Abstract:In this paper, we mainly study Jordan derivations of dual extension algebras and those of generalized one-point extension algebras. It is shown that every Jordan derivation of dual extension algebras is a derivation. As applications, we obtain that every Jordan generalized derivation and every generalized Jordan derivation on dual extension algebras are both generalized derivations. For generalized one-point extension algebras, it is proved that under certain conditions, each Jordan derivation of them is the sum of a derivation and an anti-derivation.

Abstract:Given a von Neumann algebra $M$ we introduce so called central extension $mix(M)$ of $M$. We show that $mix(M)$ is a *-subalgebra in the algebra $LS(M)$ of all locally measurable operators with respect to $M,$ and this algebra coincides with $LS(M)$ if and only if $M $ does not admit type II direct summands. We prove that if $M$ is a properly infinite von Neumann algebra then every additive derivation on the algebra $mix(M)$ is inner. This implies that on the algebra $LS(M)$, where $M$ is a type I$_\infty$ or a type III von Neumann algebra, all additive derivations are inner derivations.

Abstract:In this paper, we study the types of Jordan derivations of a Banach algebra $A$ with a right identity $e$. We show that if $eA$ is commutative and semisimple, then every Jordan derivation of $ A $ is a derivation. In this case, Jordan derivations map $A$ into the radical of $A$. We also prove that every Jordan triple left (right) derivation of $ A $ is a Jordan left (right) derivation. Finally, we investigate the range of Jordan left derivations and establish that every Jordan left derivation of $ A $ maps $ A $ into $eA$.

Abstract:Triangular matrix rings are example of trivial extensions. In this article we describe the Jordan superderivations of the trivial extensions and upper triangular matrix rings. We deduce then that any Jordan superderivation of an upper triangular matrix ring, under some conditions, is a derivation, and any Jordan super-biderivation of a trivial extension, and hence an upper triangular matrix ring, is a Jordan biderivation.

Abstract:Let $\mathcal{A}$ be a prime $\ast$-algebra and $\Phi$ preserves triple $\ast$-Jordan derivation on $\mathcal{A}$, that is, for every $A,B \in \mathcal{A}$, $$\Phi(A\diamond B \diamond C)=\Phi(A)\diamond B\diamond C+A\diamond \Phi(B)\diamond C+A\diamond B\diamond \Phi(C)$$ where $A\diamond B = AB + BA^{\ast}$ then $\Phi$ is additive. Abstract:Let $\mathcal{A}$ be a factor with dim$\mathcal{A}\geq2$. For $A, B\in\mathcal{A}$, define by $[A, B]_{*}=AB-BA^{\ast}$ and $A\bullet B=AB+BA^{\ast}$ the new products of $A$ and $B$. In this paper, it is proved that a map $\Phi: \mathcal {A}\rightarrow \mathcal {A}$ satisfies $\Phi([A, B]_{*}\bullet C)=[\Phi(A), B]_{*}\bullet C+[A, \Phi(B)]_{*}\bullet C+[A, B]_{*}\bullet \Phi(C)$ for all $A, B,C\in\mathcal {A}$ if and only if $\Phi$ is an additive $*-$derivation.

Abstract:The aim of the paper was to give a description of nonlinear Jordan triple derivable mappings on trivial extension algebras. We proved that every nonlinear Jordan triple derivable mapping on a $ 2 $-torsion free $ * $-type trivial extension algebra is a sum of an additive derivation and an additive antiderivation. As an application, nonlinear Jordan triple derivable mappings on triangular algebras were characterized.

Associativity and Commutativity of Partially Ordered Rings

Abstract:Consider a commutative monoid $(M,+,0)$ and a biadditive binary operation $\mu \colon M \times M \to M$. We will show that under some additional general assumptions, the operation $\mu$ is automatically both associative and commutative. The main additional assumption is localizability of $\mu$, which essentially means that a certain canonical order on $M$ is compatible with adjoining some multiplicative inverses of elements of $M$. As an application we show that a division ring $\mathbb F$ is commutative provided that for all $a \in \mathbb F$ there exists a natural number $k$ such that $a-k$ is not a sum of products of squares. This generalizes the classical theorem that every archimedean ordered division ring is commutative to a more general class of formally real division rings that do not necessarily allow for an archimedean (total) order. Similar results about automatic associativity and commutativity are well-known for special types of partially ordered extended rings (``extended'' in the sense that neither associativity nor commutativity of the multiplication is required by definition), namely in the uniformly bounded and the lattice-ordered cases, i.e.~for (extended) $f$-rings. In these cases the commutative monoid in question is the positive cone of the partially ordered extended ring. We also discuss how these classical results can be obtained from our main theorem.

Abstract:In this paper, we study additive maps f:A→A on an alternative Cayley-Dickson algebra A satisfying the product preserving property: f(x)f(y)=m whenever xy = k , where k and m are constant elements of A . We prove that f may be written as a multiple of a Jordan homomorphism. Unlike in the associative case, Jordan homomorphisms of strictly alternative division rings need not be homomorphisms or anti-homomorphisms, but we provide necessary and sufficient conditions for this to occur. We then extend these ideas to split alternative Cayley-Dickson algebras of characteristic not 2 and present some open questions when k or m is noninvertible. The final section handles the problem k=m=0 and generalizes to biadditive maps that preserve the zero product.

Abstract:Let $A$ be a finite-dimensional algebra over a field $F$ with char$(F)\ne 2$. We show that a linear map $D:A\to A$ satisfying $xD(x)x\in [A,A]$ for every $x\in A$ is the sum of an inner derivation and a linear map whose image lies in the radical of $A$. Assuming additionally that $A$ is semisimple and char$(F)\ne 3$, we show that a linear map $T:A\to A$ satisfies $T(x)^3- x^3 \in [A,A]$ for every $x\in A$ if and only if there exist a Jordan automorphism $J$ of $A$ lying in the multiplication algebra of $A$ and a central element $\alpha$ satisfying $\alpha^3=1$ such that $T(x)=\alpha J(x)$ for all $x\in A$. These two results are applied to the study of local derivations and local (Jordan) automorphisms. In particular, the second result is used to prove that every local Jordan automorphism of a finite-dimensional simple algebra $A$ (over a field $F$ with char$(F)\ne 2,3$) is a Jordan automorphism.
