The relationship between the indwelling time and the situation on the aglow puncture spot among patients with PICC maintenance

Abstract:Objective To study the relationship between the indwelling time and the situation on the aglow punc-ture spot among patients with peripherally inserted central catheter (PICC) maintenance .Method The clinical data on the aglow puncture spot among 2551 patients with PICC maintenance in our hospital from September 15 ,2008 to January 29 ,2010 were analyzed retrospectively .According to the indwelling time for patients with PICC ,a total of 7 time intervals including the first ,second ,third ,fourth ,fifth ,sixth ,seventh months and above are divided ,and there are 961、479、389、293、175、109、and 145 patients with PICC maintenance in every interval respectively .Result The incidences of the aglow puncture spot for patients with PICC duration are 4 .06% ,3 .13% ,4 .37% ,7 .85% , 9 .14% ,5 .5% and 2 .07% in the first ,second ,third ,fourth ,fifth ,sixth ,seventh months and above respectively . The incidences from high to low in order are in the fifth ,fourth ,sixth ,third ,first ,second ,seventh months and a-bove .The high incidences of the aglow puncture spot for patients with PICC duration are in (107 .7 ± 7 .7)d ,(139 . 3 ± 10 .4)d and(170 .0 ± 1 .4)d .Conclusion It's supposed to understand the reason of the aglow puncture spot in pa-tients with PICC duration in each period .And in the period with high incidences of the aglow puncture spot ,it is necessary to strengthen health education ,supervise the compliance behavior ,strengthen the treatment ,and deal with all kinds of complications ,and prevent local infection and hematogenous spread .
