Abstract:A facile environmentally friendly synthesis of bezaldehyde and phenylacetaldehyde analogs from readily available toluene derivatives is described. Oxidation of the styrylamines by H(2)O(2) affords benzaldehydes in moderate yields, while the hydrolysis of styrylamines afforded phenylacetaldehyde analogs in good yields.

Abstract:A new green synthesis of phenyl vinyl sulfoxide was described. The use of ethylene oxide, strong acid resin, and solid supported phosphotungstic acid made the process green and feasible to industrialize. The optimal condition was selected in the experiments. The total yield was 80.5% and it was eco-friendly. The catalysts were easy to recycle. According to the experiments, the oxidation mechanism was assumed to follow the complex–oxidation–decomplex fashion.

Abstract:Thiophenol,ethylene oxide and concentrated sulfuric acid were used as raw materials to prepare phenylvinylsulfone in order to get a simple and applicable synthesis method.The experiments were taken in a batch reactor to investigate the effects of temperature and the ratio of reactants on each step of reactions.The optimum conditions of the reaction were selected as follows: the reaction temperature of thiophenol and ethylene oxide is 40 ℃,the molar ratio of thiophenol to ethylene oxide is 1 ∶1.1,and the reaction temperature of step 2 is 140 ℃,and the molar ratio of thiophenol to concentrated sulfuric acid is 1 ∶3.2.At such conditions the yield is 92%.The new route obtained is much simpler and easier to operate,and has higher atom economy and yield.

Abstract:A practical and straightforward approach for the highly stereoselective synthesis of gamma,delta-unsaturated beta-amino sulfones by nucleophilic (phenylsulfonyl) methylation of N-tert-butylsulfinyl ketimines with methyl phenyl sulfone was achieved. With lithium bis(trimethylsilyl) amide as the base, the corresponding sulfone-stabilized carbanion derived from methyl phenyl sulfone can be transferred to (S)-alpha,beta-unsaturated N-tert-butylsulfinyl ketimines in very good yields and with high diastereoselectivities. Electron-withdrawing or electron-donating substituents on the aryl rings of (S)-alpha,beta-unsaturated N-tert-butylsulfinyl ketimines did not exert a significant effect on the outcome of the diastereoselective nucleophilic (phenylsulfonyl) methylation.

Abstract:A new scalable synthesis of (E)-α,β-unsaturated esters has been developed using protic, non-toxic, and biodegradable Deep Eutectic Solvents through the Horner-Wadsworth-Emmons reaction between triethyl phosphonates and (hetero)aromatic carbonyl compounds, encompassing electron-withdrawing and electron-donating groups. Stereoselective preparation of disubstituted or trisubstituted ethyl cinnamate derivatives is achieved in the presence of LiOH, K2CO3, or DBU as bases, at room temperature and under air. Demonstrated with the synthesis of (E)-ethyl 3-(4-bromophenyl)acrylate, the same eutectic mixture (choline chloride/urea) proved to be reusable for three consecutive runs. Gram-scale reactions (10 mmol) can be carried out without the formation of side products, thereby ensuring high atom economy and an EcoScale Score of 71.

Abstract:Herein the one-pot thioesterification and hydrothiolation of alpha, beta-unsaturated esters with aliphatic thiols was reported at room temperature. The mechanism was indirectly revealed which alpha, beta-unsaturated thioester was the intermediate. The advantages of this method included transition-metal-free, mild conditions, broad substrate scope and good functional group tolerance. On the other hand, the hydrothiolation of alpha, beta-unsaturated aliphatic esters at room temperature was also developed.

Abstract:Although alpha-functionalized alpha,beta-unsaturated aldehydes have important applications in biomedicine, there are few reports on their synthesis. In this article, a new domino reaction for the synthesis of (E)-alpha-hydroxyethyl-alpha,beta-unsaturated aldehydes was introduced, in which tetrahydrofuran (THF) used as carbonyl block. The first step is an oxidation of THF to 2-hydroxytetrahydrofuran (HTHF) and then it was condensed with ethanolamine under acid catalysis to obtain imine intermediate, which was further isomerized to enamines and used as nucleophiles to attack aldehydes. This is a simple and efficient way for the preparation of (E)-alpha-hydroxyethyl-alpha,beta-unsaturated aldehydes with notable advantages of a simple procedure, widespread availability of the substrates. Abstract:In this paper,THF was used as carbonyl source and tert-butyl hydroperoxide(TBHP)was used as oxidant to oxidize THF to 2-hydroxytetrahydrofuran,and then isomerization to 4-hydroxybutyraldehyde by ring-opening reaction,then it reacted with ethanolamine under acid catalysis to form imine intermediate(M). On the other hand,benzaldehyde was obtained from benzyl alcohol by copper catalyzed oxidation reaction, and then reacted with M to obtain stereospecific(E)-alpha-hydroxyethyl-alpha, beta-unsaturated aldehydes,which was further derivatized to obtain the a-functionalized alpha, beta-unsaturated aldehydes. The configuration of the product was confirmed by COSY(homonuclear chemical shift correlation spectroscopy). Our method has the advantages of low cost and simple synthesis process.
