Abstract:In the field of medical application, it is of great importance to adopt digital image processing technique. Based on the characteristics of medical image, we introduced the digital image processing method to the X-ray imaging system, and developed a high resolution x-ray medical sequential image acquisition and processing system that employs image enhancer and CCD. This system consists of three basic modules, namely sequential image acquisition, data transfer and system control, and image processing. Under the control of FPGA (Field Programmable Gate Array), images acquired by the front-end circuit are transmitted to a PC through high speed PCI bus, and then optimized by the image processing program. The software kits, which include PCI Device Driver and Image Processing Package, are developed with Visual C++ Language based on Windows OS. In this paper, we present a general introduction to the principle and the operating procedure of X-ray Sequential Image Acquisition and Processing System, with special emphasis on the key issues of the hardware design. In addition, the context, principle, status quo and the digitizing trend of X-ray Imaging are explained succinctly. Finally, the preliminary experimental results are shown to demonstrate that the system is capable of achieving high quality X-ray sequential images.
Transverse Dynamic Modulation Transfer Function of Subpixel Push-Scanning Imaging by Linear CCD

Abstract:Subpixel imaging technique can reconstruct a new image whose resolution is twice times higher than the original images obtained by two CCDs with 1/2 pixel shift.The relative shift between the images and the CCD attributing to the high speed movement of an object degenerates the image quality.By introducing the velocity of relative movement into the model,the transverse dynamic modulation transfer function(MTF) of subpixel push-scanning CCD imaging was deduced from the definition of MTF.The results of numerical computation for the MTF of a CCD sensor show that the subpixel imaging technique can improve the transverse imaging quality of the linear push-scanning CCDs.

Abstract:Based upon the analysis of the flaws of a kind of CCD-lens coupled digital X-ray imaging systems,improvement of the structure of the system is proposed and devices employed in the system are optimized. Experimental results show that better spatial esolution and inspecting sensitivity are acquired by the improved system.Besides,positive shot noise in the image is reduced,which significantly improves the quality of the image.

Abstract:On the basis of DR(Digital Radiography)/CT security inspection system,DR/SSCT(single slice spiral CT) security inspection system was developed.This spiral CT system can improve the CT system's drawbacks.The research work includes in replacing the former data acquisition system by a new system which can acquire projection data of multi-slices and devising the SSCT reconstruction algorithms.Simulation experiments and practical experiments were devised to contrast several algorithms.Interpolation technique was operated in detectors data in order to improve the algorithms.In conclusion,the system exploits an algorithm of weighted average of 360° LI(Linear Interpolation) and JH-HI(Jiang Hsieh-Half scan Interpolation).

Abstract:Compared with traditional film-screen system,digital X-ray imaging technology offers a number of clinical advantages such as higher sensitivity,lower intrinsic noise and availability of the images in electronic format.Principle and present of the two major digital X-ray imaging system: computed radiography(CR) and digital radiography(DR) are introduced in detail.Furthermore,the DQE and MTF curve for the different types of digital X-ray imaging shows that direct digital radiography owns the best characteristics and would be the final production of digital X-ray imaging technology.

Abstract:Amorphous silicon flat-panel detector is the mainstream used in digital radiography (DR) system. In latest years, scintillation screen coupled with CCD DR is becoming more popular in hospital. Compared with traditional amorphous silicon DR, CCD-DR has better spatial resolution and has little radiation damage. It is inexpensive and can be operated easily. In this paper, A kind of CCD based DR system is developed. We describe the construction of the system, the system performances and experiment results.

Abstract:This paper presents a design of hardware and software for a medical X-ray CCD camera system.The system contains Kodak CCD image sensor KAF09000,image processing chip VSP3100 for image acquisition,and 32 bits processor MPC8247 for system control and data transmit.Embedded RTOS VxWorks is ported on the platform to improve the performance and expansibility.The test results prove that the system works reliably and will be put into clinical practice in near future.

Abstract:The research is carried out for the preprocessing techniques of real - time radiography. An image enhancing method is proposed based on hardware processing and its principle is presented. Combining with the characteristics of the real- time radiography, the image processing methods are analyzed and compared to eliminate the noise. In the paper,different methods based on image superposition, local smoothing, directional filtering and frequency- domain filtering are employed to improve the image quality. Meanwhile, the mathematical model and the processing results are presented. It is indicated through experiments that the image quality of real - time radiography can be obviously improved by these methods.

Abstract:In this paper, taking the new-type medical X-ray TV system which is developed by our laboratory as the object of study, the imaging principle of the new-type medical X-ray TV system is analyzed and the characteristics of X-ray image is described in detail. On the basis of them, the studies of medical X-ray image processing are carried out. By using Microsoft C language, the softwares of medical X-ray image processing are designed, including image noise suppression, interpolation zoom, image gray transform and image sharp processing. In order to enhance the detection capability of the new-type medical X-ray TV system and improve the X-ray image, novel time domain, space domain and frequency domain X-ray image noise processing techniques are adopted. After debugging and running in the CA-C540 image processing system, the linking of the new-type X-ray TV system and the CA-C540 image processing system is realized successfully. Some good experiments and processing results are obtained. The theory and experiment results show that the methods discussed in this paper have obviously effect on X-ray image. The research results of this paper have significant meaning on biomedical and medical image processing.

Abstract:The revolution in information processing, particularly the digitizing of medicine, has changed the medical study, work and management. This paper reports a method to design a system for computer-aided image diagnosis and study. Combined with some good idea of graph-text system and picture archives communicate system (PACS), the system was realized and used for "prescription through computer", "managing images" and "reading images under computer and helping the diagnosis". Also typical examples were constructed in a database and used to teach the beginners. The system was developed by the visual developing tools based on object oriented programming (OOP) and was carried into operation on the Windows 9X platform. The system possesses friendly man-machine interface.

Abstract:Radiation imaging, as a key issue in nuclear technology, has received considerable attention in the industry. It is widely used in nuclear medicine, Customs supervision, and many other areas. The objective of this investigation is to get insight into the principle, operation characteristics and image characteristics of radiation imaging. In this paper, an investigation on radiation imaging is conducted on three main inspection systems for Customs supervision, including small X-ray inspection machine, CT baggage inspection system, and large container inspection system. The principle, operation characteristics, evaluation indexes, pseudo-color processing and image characteristics are discussed in detail. The results indicate that the spatial resolution of small X-ray inspection machine is much higher than that of CT baggage/goods inspection system and large container/vehicle inspection system. It is a challenge to identify substances and specific shapes in the case of overlapping for small X-ray inspection system. Moreover, the mechanism of X-ray images is discussed as well. The radiation images are divided into three types, including two-dimensional, pseudo-color, high spatial resolution; two-dimensional, gray, high spatial resolution; three-dimensional, pseudo-color, high density resolution. The further investigation on machine inspection images is suggested to focus on the application environment. For some objects with specific characteristics, such as amorphous, explosive, the CT baggage inspection has much better performance than other systems. The research in this paper reveals the mechanism, parametric effect and imaging characteristics. It could provide a necessary foundation for the follow-up intelligent processing, detection, identification and annotation for radiation imaging in nuclear area. The research on inspection devices could lend strong experience to medical treatment, industry and many other fields.

Abstract:This paper presents the key post-processing algorithms and their software implementation for CR image automatic optimal display in picture archiving and communication system, which compliant with DICOM model of the image acquisition and presentation chain. With the distributed implementation from the acquisition to the display, we achieved the effects of better image visual quality, fast image communication and display, as well as data integrity of archived CR images in PACS.

Abstract:Because of the reinstalling of microfocus X-ray imaging system there will be certain deviation the inherent characteristics of the image intensifier and the image-acquisition device, the acquired projected image is geometrical distorted, this debases the accuracy of the reconstructed image in three-dimensional CT. The current paper dicusses the basic principle of how to solve the precise measurement and calculation of FOD, FDD, and the correction of the geometrical distortion of the projected image.
