Abstract:Compared with indirect-contact heat exchanger, gas-water direct-contact heat exchanger has superiority of decreasing metal heat-exchange surface, small temperature difference and volume, less investment and good antiseptic effect. This paper studies the droplets movement characteristics and performance of gas-water heat and mass transfer. The gas-water direct-contact heat transfer differential equation has been set up to obtain temperature distribution of flue gas and water. The main factors are also analyzed. In this paper, a direct-contact heat transfer model is established for a project, and the results of theoretical calculation and engineering operation are compared. The model has been verified.

Abstract:This paper presents a new technology which combines the absorption heat pump and the direct-contact heat exchanger. Based on the analysis of natural gas features and thermal efficiency of the gas boilers, it analyzes existing and new techniques for heat recovery, focusing upon removing heat from the flue gas to a point where it can be below the dew point as significant to realizing the total heat recovery for the gas boiler. Through field test and experimental analysis of an actual case in a district heating system operating at various system load, this paper strives to identify challenges related to high return water temperature, achieving a low-temperature cold source, and enhancing the heat transfer effect; while observing if the system performance is satisfactory, and whether the system can achieve very stable performance under different working conditions and realize the total design heat capacity improvement of 12%. Data will be examined for boiler load and its influences on the condensing rate with suggestions for further improvements.

Abstract:The enhanced heat transfer technology for pipe and its application in caldron-shell oilfired and gas-fired boilers are introduced, and the heat transfer mechanism of enhanced heat transfer technology and the existing empirical calculation formula of enhanced heat transfer for pipe are analyzed. Recommended parameters for the structure of some enhanced heat transfer elements are given by analyzing the structural features, enhanced heat transfer effects and application conditions of different heat transfer elements, and synthetically considering the factors in heat transfer and flow resistance.

Abstract:Abstract In the process of energy utilization, a large amount of heat transfer needs to be realized through the heat exchange process. Therefore, the development of efficient enhanced heat exchange technology has important theoretical and application value for realizing the efficient utilization of energy and reducing pollutant emissions. Condensing heat exchanger is the core component of condensing water heater. Firstly, this paper analyses the development trend of condensing heat exchanger at home and abroad, and studies the heat exchange, pollutant emission and structural optimization design of condensing heat exchanger by using the gas water heater test-bed. Using the field synergy theory, the flow channel and fin structure of the heat exchanger are optimized. The series flow channel on the water side of the heat exchanger is optimized as the structure of first parallel and then series flow, so that the heat transfer capacity of the water side of the heat exchanger can be increased by 5.6% at the maximum, the reduction of NOx emission concentration is relatively less than 6.7%.

Abstract:Due to its high energy efficiency and steam production, the entrained-flow gasification process with the radiant and conductive cooler is suitable for the integrated gasification combined cycle (IGCC) or other processes without water gas shift unit. In this work, a 3D numerical model was established to study the characters of fluid dynamic and heat transfer of the tube sheet cooling chamber of a commercial scale fire-tube waste heat boiler, which was adopted in the gaseous/liquid hydrocarbon gasification process. The realizable k-ε model and discrete ordinate model (DOM) were employed to simulate the turbulence and syngas radiant heat transfer, respectively. The fluid-solid coupling analysis of flow and heat transfer was conducted. The effects of inlet types and mass flow of the cooling water and the width of the cooling water outlet on the velocity and temperature distribution were investigated. The results show that the 3 inlets of the cooling water is the most appropriate type in enhancing the cooling of syngas tube and generating more uniform distributions of velocity and temperature. To the 2 inlets type, the optimized mass flow of cooling water is 200t/h. Furthermore, with the addition of corundum tube in entrance of the syngas, the syngas tube can be efficiently protected by reducing the hotspot temperature by 106K.

Abstract:The small modular pressurized water reactors adopt a safety relief system to provide overpressure protection for the reactor coolant system. During this process, the mixed gas is discharged into the suppression water tank, causing direct contact condensation. The fraction of the non-condensable gas has a significant impact on the heat transfer. A visual experimental device was established to conduct the experiments of direct contact condensation within the mixed gas mass flux in the range of 177∼425 kg/m2s and the non-condensable gas mass fraction in the range of 0∼20% by using type I multi-holes sparger. The jet plume shapes for the pure steam condensation and mixed gas condensation are investigated in the condensation oscillation zone and jet stable condensation zone. The heat transfer area of pure steam and mixed gas condensation is obtained based on the jet plume shape at the interface. An empirical correlation of the heat transfer coefficient of direct contact condensation with a function of a dimensionless steam mass flux and a driving potential for the condensation process and steam mass fraction is developed and verified with different experimental data. The results show that the empirical correlation of the heat transfer coefficient applies to pure steam and mixed gas, and the error of the model is within ±50%.

Abstract:Condensing boiler for flue gas waste heat recovery is widely used in industries. In order to gain a portion of the sensible heat and latent heat of the vapor in the flue gas, the flue gas is cooled by return water of district heating through a condensation heat exchanger which is located at the end of flue. At low ambient air temperature, some boilers utilize the air pre-heater, which makes air be heated before entering the boiler, and also recovers part of the waste heat of flue gas. However, there are some disadvantages for these technologies. For the former one, the low temperature of the return water is required while the utilization of flue gas heat for the latter one is very limited. A new flue gas condensing heat recovery system is developed, in which direct contact heat exchanger and absorption heat pump are integrated with the gas boiler to recover condensing heat, even the temperature of the return water is so low that the latent heat of vapor in the flue gas could not be recovered directly by the general condensing technologies. Direct contact condensation occurs when vapor in the flue gas contacts and condenses on cold liquid directly. Due to the absence of a solid boundary between the phases, transport processes at the phase interface are much more efficient and quite different from condensation phenomena on a solid surface. Additionally, the surface heat exchanger tends to be more bulky and expensive. In this study, an experimental platform of the new system is built, and a variety of experimental conditions are carried out. Through the analysis of the experimental data and operational state, the total thermal efficiency of the platform will be increased 3.9%, and the system is reliable enough to be popularized.

In this paper, nitrogen gas is used as the low temperature medium for ice slurry production, and the effects of the mass flow rate, the velocity and the temperature on the heat transfer performance and the ice blockage are analyzed.

Abstract:The design and manufacture of high efficiency and energy-saving heating and gasification equipment is an urgent problem to be solved in the oil and gas industry. In-depth research has been carried on the heat transfer mechanism inside the heaters. A combined natural convection and participating medium radiation heat transfer model in the large cylinder was built in a creative way, to solve the unsteady-state coupled heat flow field in the gas heater with water as the heat transfer medium, and the boundary conditions and numerical model were validated through the gas heating and heat transfer flow test platform. The results show that the flow field in the heater is uneven and the overall circulation is poor. The starting time of the heater is 2.5h, the heating efficiency is only 83.5%, and the medium participatory radiation accounts for 24.5% of the total heat transfer. Obviously, the structure of traditional heater needs to be optimized, and the influence of medium participatory radiation can not be ignored.

Abstract:Introduction: The direct-contact condensation (DCC) of steam under water injection is the basic thermodynamic process of the bubble deaerator. In order to understand the complex coupling behavior of strong turbulence and fast phase-change heat transfer involved in the process. Methods: This study uses a visualized method and convective heat transfer model. Results: Since the contact area is affected by steam injection flow and sub-cooled degree is affected simultaneously, the trend of the condensation heat-transfer coefficient depends on the degree of their respective effects under each condition, and the maximum variation of the coefficient exceeds 104 W/m 2. °C. Moreover, they still effect the period of steam plume, and the maximum variation of the period was beyond 80 ms. Discussion: Calculated the average condensation heat transfer coefficient and then produces the variation law of heat transfer coefficient under various conditions in one steam plume evolution period.

Abstract:Within the range of pressure from 9 to 30MPa, mass velocity from 600 to 1200kg/(m2s), and heat flux at inner wall from 200 to 600kW/m2, experiments have been performed to investigate the heat transfer characteristics of steam-water two-phase flow in vertical upward tube. The outer diameter of the tube is 32mm, and the wall thickness is 3mm. Based on results, it was found that Dryout is the main mechanism of the heat transfer deterioration in the sub-critical pressure region. Near the critical pressure, when the heat transfer deterioration occurs, the steam quality of water is lower than that in the sub-critical pressure region, so that DNB is the main mechanism in this pressure region. At supercritical pressure, the heat transfer performance in circular channel is improved and enhanced. Heat transfer deterioration phenomenon is observed when the fluid bulk temperature approaches to the pseudo-critical value. Nusselt correlation of the forced-convection heat transfer in supercritical pressure region has been provided, which can be used to predict heat transfer coefficient of the vertical upward flow in tube.

Abstract:This paper presents a new technology based on a direct-fired absorption heat pump and a direct-contact total heat exchanger. An analysis of existing techniques for heat recovery shows that the limiting factors of condensing heat recovery are return-water temperature and the ability of air to recover heat. In addition, severe corrosion usually exists in indirect-contact heat exchangers where the flue gas and cool water flow. This new technology solves these problems. A 29-MW gas boiler was transformed by the new technology, having been tested throughout an entire heating season. As a result, the exhaust gas of the direct-contact total heat exchanger decreased to 27.4 °C, with an average COPh and COPove,h of approximately 1.69 and 1.57, respectively. The mean heat recovered was 2.67 MW, yielding a heating efficiency increase of 11.54% and a saving in natural gas consumption of 8.75 × 105 Nm3 per year. Testing showed that the NOx reduction rate was 10.48% and the condensation water flow was 3.11 t/h. Hence, this technology achieved excellent results for both energy conservation and emission reduction, thereby proving the feasibility of its large-scale application.

Abstract:The problems of over-temperature and tube damage occurred in a vertical reducing helical coiled fire-tube waste heat boiler in the gasification process when the feedstock was changed from residual oil to natural gas. A heat transfer model was employed to investigate the effects of many factors on the performance of the boiler. Numerical simulation was carried out to analyze the temperature and velocity fields in a full-size fire tube used in practical production. The calculation results were compared with the operating conditions. The results of our research show that the fouling resistance in fire tubes is the crucial thermal resistance in heat transfer. Moreover, the fouling resistance has a significant effect on the outlet syngas temperature and little influence on the steam output; increasing inlet syngas temperature will decrease the gas side fouling resistance and lead to lowering the outlet temperature. Results of numerical simulation show that the reason for the tube damage is the superposition of the high temperature, high velocity, and high viscosity of the syngas. This superposition is caused by the effects of the fire-tube structure and the temperature-dependent syngas properties.

Abstract:At sub-critical and near critical pressures, the boiling heat transfer characteristics of water in the inclined upward smooth tube of the inclined angle of α=20° and the vertical upward smooth tube with the diameter of Φ32×3mm were researched experimentally. The tests were performed at p=13~21.5MPa, G=600~1200kg/(m2s) and q=200~600kW/ m2。The results show that the departure from nucleate boiling (DNB) occurs more easily in the inclined tube than in the vertical tube, and that the peak wall temperature after DNB on the inclined tube is lower than that on the vertical tube. An increase of the mass velocity can increase the critical heat flux in the inclined tube, which is similar to that in the vertical tube. DNB occurs more easily in near critical pressure region than in sub-critical pressure region. The equation of the critical heat flux on the inclined tube and the equations of the minimum heat transfer coefficients on both tubes have been provided and can be used as a reference in the design of supercritical pressure boilers.
Experimental Research of Condensate Flow Rate of Convection-condensation Heat Exchange of Humidified Hot Air Flow

Abstract:The condensing heating surfaces of a condensing-type gas-fired boiler were used to serve as a prototype. On this basis a simulation of the flue gases in the above-mentioned boiler tail section was conducted by using humidified hot air. Through a single-row bare-tube recuperater a condensation heat exchange was carried out. Within a relatively wide range of humidified hot air temperature (100-200 ℃) and vapor volumetric factor (4%-16%) a study was conducted of the generation law of condensate flow rate. The result of tests indicate that vapor partial pressure, cooling water flow rate and humidified hot airflow rate are major influencing factors of vapor condensate flow rate. Vapor condensation rate is 40% - 75%. After a multivariate linear regression analysis of experimental data a new empirical relation was proposed to calculate the condensate flow rate.

Abstract:In this study, experiments have been performed for an investigation on heat transfer of water in an inclined downward tube with an inner diameter of 20 mm and an inclined angle of 45° from the horizon, with the range of pressure from 11.5 to 28 MPa, mass flux from 450 to 1550 kg/(m 2 s), and heat flux from 50 to 585 kW/m 2 . Based on the experimental data, the temperature distribution in the tube wall was derived. The heat transfer characteristics of inclined downward flow were compared with that of vertical downward flow. The effects of heat flux on wall temperature were analyzed and the corresponding empirical correlations were presented. The results show that heat transfer characteristics of water in the inclined downward tube are not uniform along the circumference from the top surface to the bottom surface. An increase in heat flux exacerbates the non-uniformity. At subcritical pressures, both dry-out and departure from nucleate boiling (DNB) occur at the top surface of the inclined downward tube; inversely, only dry-out takes place on the bottom surface of the inclined downward tube and in the vertical downward tube. At near-critical pressures, DNB and dry-out occur in the comparing tubes with greater possibility. At supercritical pressures, heat transfer gets enhanced in the pseudo-critical enthalpy region; in the high enthalpy region, the top surface temperature of the inclined downward tube decreases obviously.
