Abstract:Intersecting feature check and detection is a basic problem in feature-based CAD/CAM system. The usual approach checks whether two features are intersecting by performing Boolean operation between feature volumes. In order to avoid using very time-consuming Boolean operations, a new approach based on persistently naming mechanism of geometric entities is proposed. The approach is of high efficiency because it replaces Boolean operation by just checking names of features' faces.

Abstract:The intersecting edges and faces form the common boundaries among intersecting features on the resulting part. Information about the feature intersection can be obtained by analyzing the type of intersecting features and characteristics of intersecting boundaries. Machining sequence rules for various intersecting features can be worked out adaptive to each kind of machining operations according to the intersection situation, types of intersecting features, and machining knowledge. Based on these rules, the algorithm for determining the machining sequence constraints of intersecting features is developed, resulting in high efficiency of process planning and rationally of machining sequences.

Abstract:How to obtain intersection of curves and surfaces is a fundamental problem in many areas such as computer graphics, CAD/CAM, computer animation, and robotics. Especially, how to deal with singular cases, such as tangency or superposition, is a key problem in obtaining intersection results. A method for solving the intersection problem based on the coordinate transformation is presented. With the Lagrange multiplier method, the minimum distance between the center of a circle and a quadric surface is given as well. Experience shows that the coordinate transformation could significantly simplify the method for calculating intersection results. The location of the tangent point is revised according to the tangency condition. It can improve the stability of the intersection of given curves and surfaces in singularity cases. The new algorithm is applied in a three dimensional CAD software (GEMS), produced by Tsinghua University.

In this paper, a new method based on geometric abstraction is proposed. Abstract:To solve the problem of acquiring the information of view outline, some experts have proposed many methods. But there are too much calculation and too complex determinant in prevail methods, which has become an important problem. Based on topological mapping, this paper puts forward automatically acquiring the information of view outline. At first, based on topological mapping principle, the method maps points of the candidate path onto the projection line. And then, using the topological sequence compatibility of points on the projection line and the candidate path, the problem of determining the trend of the next branch is converted to decision of the trend of projection lines. Finally, according to the sort order of mapping points, the path can be determined. Since the projection line is horizontal, it is easy and convenient to obtain the mapping points. This algorithm also saliently improves the computation efficiency by refraining from the complex angular calculations. Moreover, the algorithm will play an important role in automatic partitioning of engineering drawings, assembly diagram processing and dimension arrangement.

Abstract:In this article a multilevel method co recognize the characters in engineering drawings is proposed. It takes advantages of three different methods of character recognition: the method based on topological structure, the method based on geometrical information and the method based on invariant moment and self-learning. After the main recognition process. a "supervisor-clerk" model and contextual analysis are used to eliminate the confusion. The experiment test shows that our multilevel method achieves good performance.

Abstract:Due to the lack of effective 3D sketching facility, most of current geometric modelers have difficulties in supporting early stage design. In this paper, we present an approach of geometric modeling to simultaneously support both parametric solid modeling and early stage design. Our approach realizes 3D sketching facility based on a new geometric constraint model and intuitive, highly interactive 3D manipulations. Meanwhile, we derive tile exact parametric solid model of the product by recognizing and solving geometric constraints.

Abstract:Commonly, surface/surface intersect algorithm is repeatedly used to solve the offset surface/surface intersections. It doesn't make full use of similarity of intersect curve topology to simple offset surface/surface intersection problem. The algorithm presented in this paper pre-processes two parametric surfaces to achieve points, called topology transition points, which produce an effect on intersect curve structure, number and location. According to topology transition points distribution graph, initial point search strategy and intersect curve topology can be fixed. The algorithm is tested, and can be proved to overcome the degenerate conditions such as loop leaking, singularity leaking and can calculate the initial point effectively.

Abstract:A method is presented for segmenting mechanical engineering drawings in 2D orthographic vector data form into views using connectivity analysis and identifying the corresponding adjacent relationships between the views using rules from the draught-standard. The method is the first one that can accommodate auxiliary views including partial views in addition to the standard orthogonal set, the number of views and their layout in the drawings need not to be known a priori. The method has been successfully implemented as part of a system for feature recognition and 3D reconstruction from 2D engineering drawings.

Abstract:In order to reuse the CAD data efficiently, the paper presents an effective method for extracting mechanical part information from existing mechanical engineering drawings produced by CAD software. Characteristics of the forms in the engineering drawings are analyzed. A new method to represent arbitrary forms with matrix is proposed, which makes it easy to extract form frames. Based on the form frames, the part information is obtained. In addition, a practical software tool is briefly introduced, which can be used to extract part information from AutoCAD produced engineering drawings automatically.

Abstract:In this paper, we present a novel parametric surfaces intersection algorithm based on discrete surfels. First the parametric surfaces are sampled as point sampling surfaces. Each point is called a surfel with geometric information attached. Then the surfels are resampled adaptively by error analysis. Adaptive octree is built to accelerate the intersection operations. Finally, the intersection lines are resulted after sorting these discrete intersection points. Experiments show that our algorithm is effective and easy to implement. The precision of the intersection lines is controllable.

Abstract:Conventional methods for solving intersections between two offset parametric surfaces often include iteratively using computationally expensive SSI (surface/surface intersections) algorithm. In addition, these methods ignore the relations between the intersection curves of parametric surfaces with different offset distances. The algorithm presented in this paper, makes full use of the topological relations between different intersection loops and calculates intersection loops with the help of previously calculated intersection loops. It first pre-processes two parametric surfaces to obtain the characteristic points, called topology transition points (TTPs), which can help in the subsequent finding of the topologies of the intersection curves. Then these points are categorized into several distinct groups, and we can determine the calculation strategy for searching initial points by analyzing the properties of these TTPs on the surfaces. Hence, all intersection curves can be marched from initial points by the tracing algorithm. The proposed algorithm could calculate intersection curves robustly and effectively, and has been tested to be capable of overcoming the degenerate conditions such as loop and singularities leaking that occur frequently in conventional algorithms.

Abstract:IGES (Initial Graphics Exchange Standard) is a general graphics data exchange standard, which has been widely used for data exchange between different CAD/CAM systems. But the inherent defect of IGES makes it difficult to use in the field of automatic programming. This article focuses on the automatic programming of holes processing. Entities were labeled with different entity number, on which the hole entity could be distinguished and extracted based. The intersection lines of hole and NURBS surface could be calculated by NURBS surface intersection algorithm. The redundancy of intersecting lines is a key problem. This article gives an intuitive treatment.

Abstract:Based on the analysis on characteristics of channelization design, this paper presents the scheme for developing a computer aided tool for intersection channelization. Tasks in developing the software are listed, followed by discussions on the function of the software and technologies involved. With recognition of the key of the development, technical solutions are detailed to ensure the dual direction link between graph?ic data and non-graphic data. Finally, examples are provided, which show that this tool could make the chan?nelization design much more efficient.

Abstract:This paper presents an algorithm based on the intelligent linkage with the application of parametric CAD in constraint solving. Our algorithm improves the geometric construction and complexity. Furthermore, by integrating with other methods, such as the LIM0 method, geometric transformed method, C-Tree method, numerical method and so on, we can build a complete geometric constraint solving framework which solves the 2D and 3D geometric constraint and can automatically give the construction. We also develop a dynamic geometric intelligent software based on the presented algorithm and the results demonstrate the significant performance.
