Abstract:This paper presents an energy and exergy co-optimization method of integrated gasification combined cycle (IGCC) based on Fuzzy Supervisory Predictive Control (FSPC). Firstly, a green IGCC process is proposed which contains three principle couplings: air separation unit (ASU), heat recovery steam generator (HRSG) and CO2 capture/storage unit (CCS). From law of thermodynamics, using substance thermophysical parameters, the energy efficiency and exergy efficiency of IGCC are successively defined. The IGCC power station has features such as closed coupling, large time lag and non-linearity, however, faster response speed and lower overshoot are always the unremitting pursuits. Therefore, the Fuzzy Supervisory Predictive Control (FSPC) method is proposed to implement robust control under complex disturbances by pre-considering unmeasurable disturbance and measurable disturbance. The fuzzy rules extracted from historical bigdata are employed in supervisory layer to make the precise control decisions. Finally, the energy and exergy co-optimization model is built and solved for higher efficiency and economic effectiveness. Taking the large-scale (300MW) IGCC for example, after using FSPC, the efficiency of water recovery is increased from 40.7% to 62.1% with the ratio of 52.6% because of waste water recovery (WWR) system. The net efficiency of proposed IGCC system is increased from 37.6% to 41.7% with the ratio of 10.9%. The exergy efficiency of IGCC system is increased from 36.5% to 39.2% with the ratio of 7.4%. The proposed method has great significance for the energy-saving and Near-zero emissions (NZEC) IGCC with high safety and robust control under supercritical (SC) or ultra-super critical (USC) state.

Abstract:Due to the advantages such as high efficiency of electricity generation and high degree of cleanness, Integrated Gasification Combined Cycle (IGCC) power plant represents the direction of development for all fired power plants in China. This essay analyzes the technical requirements and economic attributes of the Chinese IGCC power plant of 400 MW level in plan. It is both necessary and possible for China to develop IGCC power plant with the technical foundation available. The biggest obstacle facing the development of IGCC is the huge amount of investment and high cost of electric generation. According to the sensitivity analysis, investment is the main element affecting the cost of power generation. Though it is difficult to control investment in the present phase, with restricting elements like technique and facility, smooth operation of the project could still be ensured through government’s preferential policies toward IGCC power plant, such as setting price for clean electricity, offering investment subsidies and preferential taxes. The premise for such policies is a determined and consistent development strategy of IGCC technique.

Abstract:The present paper has analyzed the way and measure of IGCC on controlling pollutants emission in detail,the characteristics and advantage of IGCC on controlling pollutants emission are summarized in the paper.Through the comparison with conventional PC on those,the results indicate that the pollutants emission can be controlled effectively in IGCC power station,and the indexes of pollutants emission are much lower than the advanced environment protection criterion in the world.

Abstract:The technological characteristics and ways of Integrated Gasification Combined Cycle(IGCC) on energy conservation and emissions reduction was analyzed in this paper.Through the comparison with conventional PC on those environment protection indexes,the results show that IGCC is a new cleaning power generation technology with high efficiency and low pollution emission,especially for CO2 emission control.This technology could provide a new direction of the development of energy conservation and emission reduction in the future.

Abstract:IGCC system has been revealed to be a very attractive power generation system based on coal, promising highly efficient electricity generation and very low environmental impact. The integration of gasifier and power island will be a system engineering. This paper will investigate the influence of IGCC system configuration on system performance. Especially the exhaust heat utilization of syngas from gasifier will be discussed in detail. As the example, one E class gas turbine will be utilized as the core subsystem, the gasifier and HRSG system will be matched. A steady state thermodynamic model for IGCC system is developed on IPSEpro simulation platform and applied to a performance analysis. The characteristics under off-design and design condition for IGCC system were also analyzed.

Abstract:Different types of power generating system with integrated coal gasification combined cycle (ICGCC) have been presented. The concept design of ICGCC system of using air for gasification has been carried out, four types of ICGCC power generating system with air for gasification being calculated and analysed. The results of study show that (1) the coalfired ICGCC pwer generating system to have comparatively large comprehensive superiority; (2)under same designed parameters, the ICGCC system with fluidized bed gasifier of lower temperature and that with air flow bed gasifier of higher temperature each has its strong and weak points, it is recommended to use fluidized bed gasifier for ICGCC system allocated with low temperature rough coal gas purification system; (3)during the process of of designing ICGCC system, the inlet temperature of gas turbine should chose a high value as possible. there is an optimal pressure ratio value corresponding to the said temperature; (4) the power supply efficiency of ICGCC system to be 5~7 percentage point higher than that of a conventional power plant.

Abstract:Using software GT PRO, complete IGCC systems, equipped with different gasifiers, are studied by simulation. The effects of some representative gasifying technologies on the technical and economical performance of IGCC power plants are analyzed and compared. Results show, that the way coal is fed, has a great bearing on both the system's efficiency and its price per unit. This may serve as a reference for selecting gasifiers in IGCC systems.

Abstract:Gas turbine power plants are being developed on a large scale recently in China. Coal will still be the absolutely dominating resource of both primary energy consumption and electricity generation in the coming decades in the country . Therefore , IGCC may be a necessary choice for China. Three IGCC cases using three types of typically commercial gasifiers, Destec, Texaco and Shell, and M701G gas turbine in China 's circumstance were simulated and analyzed by GT PRO & PEACE. For comparison, the same research was also made on GTCC case. The results show IGCC using Shell gasifier reaches the highest net electricity efficiency and also possesses the highest investment and cost. Economic analysis shows electricity price is the most sensitive factor compared with fuel price and operating hours per year. In summary, IGCC for power generation is not suitable for China at present, and Polygen. System based on IGCC may be a promising choice for China in the future. Preferential policies on electricity price should be stated for indispensable IGCC demonstration in China sometime in the future. Finally, a further thought about operation oriented cost estimation approach on gasifier and gas turbine is issued. Copyright © (2005) by the International Pittsburgh Coal Conference.

Abstract:The gasification island is a key and complicate unit in integrated gasification combined cycle(IGCC)system,and it affects the whole system performance greatly.The 200 MW IGCC system model was established using Thermoflex software,from the view of system,the IGCC systems with direct chilling,with and without gas/steam heat exchanger before dust removal were compared,the conclusions were obtained.That is,the IGCC system without gas/steam heat exchanger is much safer and has high system efficiency.Then the nitrogen re-injection coefficient in the air separation unit(ASU),the oxygen/coal ratio in gasification unit and the syngas temperature out of the convective syngas cooler(CSC)were studied based on this system.The result shows that:the best nitrogen re-injection coefficient is 70% with the air separation coefficient of 30%;with considering many elements,the best oxygen/coal ratio is about 0.91 based on the coal studied in this paper;the system efficiency decreases with the syngas temperature out of the CSC,when the syngas temperature out of radiant syngas cooler(RSC)is 700℃,the syngas temperature out of CSC is better to select 350℃ and then its system efficiency is comparatively high.

Abstract:Integrated gasification chemical-looping combustion (IGCLC) is a potential combustion technology with innate CO2 separation for solid fuels. Coupling this technology with coal-fired power plants is expected to greatly alleviate the high efficiency penalty induced by CO2 capture. This study proposes an innovative system called integrated gasification CLC combined cycle (IGCLCCC) that highly integrates a gasification system, a CLC system, a combined cycle, an ultra-supercritical steam cycle, and a CO2 capture system. In the proposed system, the oxygen-depleted stream from air reactor and flue gas from fuel reactor enter the combined cycle and ultra-supercritical steam cycle, respectively, for power generation. The energy and mass balances of the proposed system are determined by process simulation. The relationship between the performance of subsystems and system efficiency is studied by parameter analysis. Results indicate that the net efficiency penalty (0.3 percentage points) of the proposed system is 4.3 to 13.2 percentage points less than those of the conventional CO2 capture power plants, and the power consumption of specific CO2 capture is minimized to 8.3 kWeh/t. Besides, its net efficiency is as high as 45.0%, which is comparable to that of the natural gas combined cycle power plant with a 90% CO2 capture rate. This work provides a new sight into the design of the low-carbon and efficient power generation system.

Abstract:Gas turbine is the key equipment in IGCC system,and its performance affects the whole system directly.The system model of 200 MW IGCC was established using Thermoflex software,the IGCC system off-design characteristics was mainly analyzed with gas turbine at 40%～100% load.The control modes of falling gas turbine load were analyzed through the changes of the initial temperature of the gas turbine and the IGV of the compressor.From the view point of the system,the changes of the main performance parameters of the IGCC system were studied with off-design gas turbine.The results will offer some reference for IGCC plant design and operation in the future.

Abstract:IGCC system consists of gasification island,gas turbine island,conventional island and other auxiliary systems,in which the gas turbine island has great effect on the whole IGCC system.The 200 MW IGCC system model was established using Thermoflex software,from the view of system,the gas turbine island characteristics was studied,the effect of its key parameters on the system performance was analyzed.The results show that: The gas turbine power and system gross power decrease with the increasing of ambient temperature,and increase as the ambient pressure increase.The system gross power and system efficiency decrease with the gas turbine load-drop.The gas turbine power and system gross power decrease with the compressor inlet air decrease,and increase with the nozzle flow area increase.The best the nitrogen re-inject coefficient is 60% with the air separated unit integrated coefficient is 20% for this system.
