Abstract:We prove two separate lower bounds -- one for nondegenerate convex domains and the other for nondegenerate $\mathbb{C}$-convex (but not necessarily convex) domains -- for the squeezing function that hold true for all domains in $\mathbb{C}^n$, for a fixed $n\geq 2$, of the stated class. We provide explicit expressions in terms of $n$ for these estimates.

Abstract:We show that if a bounded domain $\Omega$ is exhausted by a bounded strictly pseudoconvex domain $D$ with $C^2$ boundary, then $\Omega$ is holomorphically equivalent to $D$ or the unit ball, and show that a bounded domain has to be holomorphically equivalent to the unit ball if its Fridman's invariant has certain growth condition near the boundary.

Abstract:We provide a novel approach to approximate bounded Lipschitz domains via a sequence of smooth, bounded domains. The flexibility of our method allows either inner or outer approximations of Lipschitz domains which also possess weakly defined curvatures, namely, domains whose boundary can be locally described as the graph of a function belonging to the Sobolev space for some . The sequences of approximating sets is also characterized by uniform isocapacitary estimates with respect to the initial domain .

Abstract:We give an explicit lower bound, in terms of the distance from the boundary, for the Kobayashi metric of a certain class of bounded pseudoconvex domains in $\mathbb{C}^n$ with $\mathcal{C}^2$-smooth boundary using the regularity theory for the complex Monge--Ampere equation. Using such an estimate, we construct a family of unbounded Kobayashi hyperbolic domains in $\mathbb{C}^n$ having a certain negative-curvature-type property with respect to the Kobayashi distance. As an application, we prove a Picard-type extension theorem for the latter domains.

Abstract:We prove a homotopy formula which yields almost optimal estimates in all (positive-indexed) Sobolev and Hölder-Zygmund spaces for the $\overline \partial$ equation on finite type domains in $\mathbb C^2$, extending the earlier results of Fefferman-Kohn (1988) and Chang-Nagel-Stein (1992), and Range (1992). The main novelty of our proof is the construction of holomorphic support functions that admit precise estimates when the parameter variable lies in a thin shell outside the domain, which generalizes Range's method.

Abstract: We obtain a psh Hopf lemma for domains satisfying certain cusp conditions by using a sharp estimate for the Green function of a planar cusp along the axis. Abstract:Using Maz'ya type integral identities with power weights, we obtain new boundary estimates for biharmonic functions on Lipschitz and convex domains in $R^n$. For $n\ge 8$, combined with a result in \cite{S2}, these estimates lead to the solvability of the $L^p$ Dirichlet problem for the biharmonic equation on Lipschitz domains for a new range of $p$. In the case of convex domains, the estimates allow us to show that the $L^p$ Dirichlet problem is uniquely solvable for any $2-\e<p<\infty$ and $n\ge 4$.

Abstract:Motivated by the study on the uniqueness problem of the coupled model, in this paper, we revisit 2d incompressible Navier–Stokes equations in bounded domains. In fact, we establish some new smoothing estimates to the Leray solution based on the spectral analysis of Stokes operator. To understand well these estimates, on one hand, we establish some new Brezis–Waigner type inequalities in general domain and in any dimension and disclose the connection between both of them. On the other hand, we show that these new estimates can be applied to prove the existence and uniqueness of the weak solutions for two coupled models: Boussinesq system with partial viscosity (no dissipation for the temperature) and Fluid/Particle system, in two dimension and in bounded domains.

Abstract:The classical Serrin's overdetermined theorem states that a $C^2$ bounded domain, which admits a function with constant Laplacian that satisfies both constant Dirichlet and Neumann boundary conditions, must necessarily be a ball. While extensions of this theorem to non-smooth domains have been explored since the 1990s, the applicability of Serrin's theorem to Lipschitz domains remained unresolved. This paper answers this open question affirmatively. Actually, our approach shows that the result holds for domains that are sets of finite perimeter with a uniform upper bound on the density, and it also allows for slit discontinuities.

Abstract:In this article, we present explicit estimates of the size of the domain on which the Implicit Function Theorem and the Inverse Function Theorem are valid. For maps that are twice continuously differentiable, these estimates depend upon the magnitude of the first-order derivatives evaluated at the point of interest, and a bound on the second-order derivatives over a region of interest. One of the key contributions of this article is that the estimates presented require minimal numerical computation. In particular, these estimates are arrived at without any intermediate optimization procedures. We then present three applications in optimization and systems and control theory where the computation of such bounds turns out to be important. First, in electrical networks, the power flow operations can be written as Quadratically Constrained Quadratic Programs (QCQPs), and we utilize our bounds to compute the size of permissible power variations to ensure stable operations of the power system network. Second, the robustness margin of positive definite solutions to the Algebraic Riccati Equation (frequently encountered in control problems) subject to perturbations in the system matrices are computed with the aid of our bounds. Finally, we employ these bounds to provide quantitative estimates of the size of the domains for feedback linearization of discrete-time control systems.
