Abstract:A novel class of chiral glycosyl-triazole-based P,N ligands were synthesized by 'click chemistry' and were applied to the Rh-catalyzed asymmetric hydrosilylation of a range of substituted acetophenones. Enantioselective hydrosilylation of acetophenone gave (S)-1-phenylethanol in moderate enantioselectivity (72% ee) and in good conversion (93%).

Abstract:A Cp*Rh-III-catalyzed annulative carbooxygenation of challenging 1,1-disubstituted alkenes triggered by C-H activation of N-aryloxyacetamides has been established, which affords 2,3-dihydrobenzofuran derivatives with a quaternary carbon center in good to excellent yields under mild redox-neutral conditions. An amide group on the alkenes is essential for the process, and may inhibit the beta-H elimination from C(sp3)-Rh species by saturating the rhodium center through coordination. Furthermore, mechanistic insights obtained from control experiments suggest a mechanism involving a Rh-III-Rh-V-Rh-III catalytic cycle.

Abstract:A highly efficient rhodium‐catalyzed hydrosilylation of N‐sulfonyl‐1,2,3‐triazoles has been developed. The protocol uses readily available N‐sulfonyl‐1,2,3‐triazoles and triphenylsilane as starting materials, and the reactions first gave 2‐(triphenylsilyl)‐2‐aryl‐N‐(arylsulfonyl)ethanimines, the isomerization of which provided (E)‐2‐(triphenylsilyl)‐2‐aryl‐N‐(arylsulfonyl)ethenamines in the presence of triethylamine; the reduction of which with LiAlH4 led to 2‐(triphenylsilyl)‐2‐aryl‐N‐(arylsulfonyl)ethanamines. It is worthwhile to note that the obtained products could be converted into indole and arylethylamine derivatives. Therefore, the highly efficient rhodium‐catalyzed hydrosilylation method is a valuable strategy for synthesis of diverse compounds.

Abstract:Described here is a selective synthesis of 2,3-dihydropyrrole-fused N-glycosides through rhodium-catalyzed denitrogenative transannulation of N-sulfonyl-1,2,3-triazoles with glycals. A series of pyrroline-fused N-glycosides are afforded in moderate to excellent yields with exclusive regioselectivity and stereoselectivity. Functional application of such a resultant product by oxidative addition and epoxidation is also explored. Abstract:A well-defined tridentate chiral sulfoxide-N-olefin ligand has been designed and applied in rhodium-catalyzed asymmetric allylic substitutions of racemic allylic carbonates, providing the branched allylic products in good yields with good to high enantioselectivities and excellent regioselectivities. This reaction mechanism, which involves the possible hemilability of olefin coordination on sulfoxide-N-olefin hybrid ligands with rhodium, is elaborated as well.

Abstract:A series of structurally novel, operationally convenient, and efficient chiral 2-phosphino-2,3-dihydrobenzo[d][1,3]oxaphosphole ligands was developed. Applications of ligands 3a and 3b in rhodium-catalyzed asymmetric hydrogenation of alpha-(acylamino)acrylates and beta-(acylamino)acrylates provided excellent enantioselectivities (up to >99% ee) and reactivities (up to 10 000 TON).

Abstract:The first rhodium-catalyzed highly chemo-, regio- and enantioselective hydroformylation of cyclopropyl-functionalized trisubstituted alkenes affording useful chiral cyclopropyl entities is reported. Compared to generally used diphosphine ligands for asymmetric catalysis, the modified hybrid phosphorus ligand, named (R,S)-DTBM-Yanphos, can convert a series of readily available cyclopropyl-functionalized trisubstituted alkenes into high-value chiral cyclopropyl-functionalized aldehydes with high selectivities (81-98 % ee). Gram-scale reactions (TON up to 1500) and follow-up transformations to the corresponding alcohol, acid, esters and nitrile are also presented. Finally, a possible hydroformylation mechanism involving ring-open-hydroformylation pathways is proposed based on control and deuteroformylation reactions.
