Abstract:The Rh(II)-catalyzed formal [3+2] and [3+3] cycloadditions of 1-tosyl 1,2,3-triazoles with 2H-azirines have been developed, which enable the efficient synthesis of polysubstituted 3-aminopyrroles and 1,2-dihydropyrazines, respectively. The reported [3+2] cycloaddition represents the first application of 1-sulfonyl 1,2,3-triazole as a [2C]-component in relevant cycloaddition reactions.

Abstract:An effective method for the synthesis of fully substituted 5-sulfonamidoimidazoles by Rh(II)-catalyzed transannulation of 1,2,4-oxadiazole derivatives with N-sulfonyl-1,2,3-triazoles is reported. The reaction works well with both aromatic 1,2,4-oxadiazoles and 1,2,4-oxadiazol-5-ones providing a flexible approach to N-(alkoxy/amino)carbonyl- and N-alkyl-substituted imidazoles. Both the disclosed reactions are completely regioselective and provide the first examples of a carbenoid-mediated transformation of N,N,O-heterocycles.

Abstract:A highly efficient rhodium‐catalyzed hydrosilylation of N‐sulfonyl‐1,2,3‐triazoles has been developed. The protocol uses readily available N‐sulfonyl‐1,2,3‐triazoles and triphenylsilane as starting materials, and the reactions first gave 2‐(triphenylsilyl)‐2‐aryl‐N‐(arylsulfonyl)ethanimines, the isomerization of which provided (E)‐2‐(triphenylsilyl)‐2‐aryl‐N‐(arylsulfonyl)ethenamines in the presence of triethylamine; the reduction of which with LiAlH4 led to 2‐(triphenylsilyl)‐2‐aryl‐N‐(arylsulfonyl)ethanamines. It is worthwhile to note that the obtained products could be converted into indole and arylethylamine derivatives. Therefore, the highly efficient rhodium‐catalyzed hydrosilylation method is a valuable strategy for synthesis of diverse compounds.

Abstract:A Cp*Rh-III-catalyzed annulative carbooxygenation of challenging 1,1-disubstituted alkenes triggered by C-H activation of N-aryloxyacetamides has been established, which affords 2,3-dihydrobenzofuran derivatives with a quaternary carbon center in good to excellent yields under mild redox-neutral conditions. An amide group on the alkenes is essential for the process, and may inhibit the beta-H elimination from C(sp3)-Rh species by saturating the rhodium center through coordination. Furthermore, mechanistic insights obtained from control experiments suggest a mechanism involving a Rh-III-Rh-V-Rh-III catalytic cycle.

Abstract:The reactions of α-bromoacetophenones with methylhydrazine in refluxing acetic acid generated 2-methyl-4-aryl-2H-[1,2,3]triazoles in good yields. The method was developed by the reactions of α-bromoacetophenones with phenylhydrazines in the presence of cupric ion, leading to 2,4-diary-2H-[1,2,3]triazoles. The structures were established on the basis of corresponding IR, 1H NMR, and elemental analysis data.

Abstract:A Rh(II)-catalyzed dearomative intramolecular [3 + 2] dipolar cycloaddition involving the indolic C2-C3 carbon-carbon double bond has been developed. The reaction was launched from the triazole moiety within the substrate and proceeded efficiently under mild conditions. A wide range of functional groups could be tolerated. These features render the current reaction a highly useful tool for the synthesis of polycyclic indole alkaloids, as showcased by a rapid assembly of the core structure of Aspidosperma and the related alkaloids.
