Abstract:We herein report an enantioselective palladium-catalyzed cross-coupling between α-bromo carboxamides and aryl boronic acids, generating a series of chiral α-aryl carboxamides in good yields and excellent enantioselectivities. The development of a chiral P,P=O ligand was critical in overcoming the second transmetalation issue and allows the first asymmetric palladium-catalyzed coupling of α-bromo carbonyl compounds.

Abstract:Stereospecific approaches allow the introduction of a stereogenic center into complex organic molecules using optically active reagents. Among these, the Pd-catalyzed stereospecific cross-coupling of chiral alkylboron compounds stands out as a highly effective tool for organic synthesis. In parallel with advances in the development of borylation technology, the strategy has recently witnessed a growth in its applicability. Abstract:Palladium- and nickel-catalyzed cross-coupling recations of unactivated alkyl bromides with diboron reagents have been developed as practical methods for the synthesis of primary and secondary alkylboronic esters. These reactions extend the concept and utility of Pd- and Ni-catalyzed cross-coupling of aliphatic electrophiles. They also show different substrate selectivity and ligand dependence as compared to the recently reported Cu-catalyzed borylation reaction.

Abstract:The combination of a Pd(0) source and a phosphoramidite ligand promotes a formal allylic cross‐coupling between alkylidenecyclopropanes (ACPs) and boronic acids to yield synthetically appealing 1,1‐disubstituted alkenes. Remarkably, the reaction proceeds both under neutral and basic conditions, and works with both aryl‐ and alkenylboronic acids. DFT calculations suggest that the reaction entails a C‐C activation/protonation mechanism instead of a hydropalladation pathway, such as has been proposed for other metal‐promoted hydrofunctionalizations of ACPs.
