Abstract:Utilizing simple precursors for the exquisite construction of molecules with diversity and complexity is urgent. Herein, a novel A3-X type reaction for functionalized 3-haloquinolines has been developed by PhI (OAc)2-mediated four-component tandem addition/cyclization/oxidation/aromatization process with simple aromatic amine, aldehyde, alkyne and halide salt. Broad functional group tolerance, very mild condition, easy for further transformation illustrate the concision, high efficiency and practicability of this A3-X type reaction.

Abstract:Here we report a novel Rh-catalyzed C-H/C-H alkenylation of <i>N</i>-arylmethanimines with vinylene carbonate acting as a vinylene unit. Forty examples of C3,C4-nonsubstituted quinolines were achieved from commercially available starting materials. This identified process features an exceedingly simple system, a lower loading of catalyst, and the capacity for postfunctionalization with bioactive molecules.

Abstract:A tandem reaction catalyzed by palladium is developed to provide a facile and simple route for the synthesis of 5-methyl-5H-indeno[1,2-c]quinolones, which can introduce diversity and complexity into the products from readily available starting materials. Abstract:A palladium-catalyzed highly regioselective C-H allylation/annulation reaction of N-sulfonyl amides with secondary or tertiary allylic alcohols has been developed to construct 3,4-dihydroisoquinolones bearing a synthetically valuable vinyl substituent. This cascade cyclization approach of allylic alcohols involving C-H allylation has not been reported previously. The commercially available allylic alcohol substrates, the only by-product of water, and the used terminal oxidant of O2 provide environmentally benign advantages.

Abstract:Polysubstituted quinolines are synthesized through an unprecedented cascade annulation of -azido-1-alkynes with diaryliodonium salts, which serve as C2-building blocks. The reaction proceeds smoothly and is catalyzed by Cu(I) catalysts to give various quinolines in good isolated yields with simple operation under mild conditions.

Abstract:A palladium-catalyzed aromatic dual C-H acylations followed with intramolecular cyclizations have been developed by the assistance of bidentate N-(quinolin-8-yl)benzamide. This tandem process involves the formation of three new chemical bonds, providing access to novel quinoline-substituted hydroxyl isoindolones skeleton under simple reaction conditions. The deuterium-labeled competition reaction has revealed that C-H bond cleavage is the turnover limiting step.
