Abstract:A one-pot synthesis of quinolines via molecular iodine-catalyzed and air-mediated tandem condensation/imino-Diels–Alder/isomerization/oxidation of simple readily available amines, aldehydes, and alkynes has been developed. This methodology was extended to synthesize quinazolines from two molecules of amines and two molecules of glyoxalates.

Abstract:Utilizing simple precursors for the exquisite construction of molecules with diversity and complexity is urgent. Herein, a novel A3-X type reaction for functionalized 3-haloquinolines has been developed by PhI (OAc)2-mediated four-component tandem addition/cyclization/oxidation/aromatization process with simple aromatic amine, aldehyde, alkyne and halide salt. Broad functional group tolerance, very mild condition, easy for further transformation illustrate the concision, high efficiency and practicability of this A3-X type reaction.

Abstract:Polysubstituted quinolines are synthesized through an unprecedented cascade annulation of -azido-1-alkynes with diaryliodonium salts, which serve as C2-building blocks. The reaction proceeds smoothly and is catalyzed by Cu(I) catalysts to give various quinolines in good isolated yields with simple operation under mild conditions.

Abstract:A copper(I)-catalyzed protocol is developed for the synthesis of various 2,3-diaroylquinolines starting from achiral ammonium salts and anthranils through [4+1+1] annulation. Using copper(I) chloride as the sole catalyst, this reaction is featured with easily available starting materials, broad substrate scope, good yields and simple reaction conditions.
