Abstract:In this paper, we study two 'dual' problems in the operator space theory. We first show that if L is a finite-dimensional operator space, then L has the OLLP if and only if for ally indexed family of operator spaces (W-i)(i epsilon I) and a free ultrafilter U on I, we have a complete isometry Pi (L (circle times) over capW(i))/U = L (circle times) over cap Pi W-i/U. Next, we show that, if W is an operator space, then T-n (circle times) over capW** holds if and only if W is T-locally reflexive, if and only if for any finitely representable operator spaces V, we have an isometry I(V, W*) = (V (circle times) over capW)*.

Abstract:In this paper, we mainly study operator spaces which have the locally lifting property (UP). The dual of any ternary ring of operators is shown to satisfy the strongly local reflexivity, and this is used to prove that strongly local reflexivity holds also for operator spaces which have the LLP. Several homological characterizations of the UP and weak expectation property are given. We also prove that for any operator space V, V** has the LLP if and only if V has the LLP and V* is exact.

Abstract:Let (X, tau(1)) and (Y, tau(2)) be two Hausdorff locally convex spaces with continuous duals X, and Y', respectively, L (X, Y) be the space of all continuous linear operators from X into Y, K (X, Y) be the space of all compact operators of L (X, Y). Let WOT and UOT be the weak operator topology and uniform operator topology on K (X, Y), respectively. In this paper, we characterize a full-invariant property of K (X, Y); that is, if the sequence space X has the signed-weak gliding hump property, then each; lambda-multiplier WOT-convergent series Sigma(i) T-i in K(X, Y) must be X-multiplier convergent with respect to all topologies between WOT and UOT if and only if each continuous linear operator T: (X, tau(1)) --> or (lambda(beta), sigma(lambda(beta),lambda)) is compact. Abstract:We introduce notions of finite presentation and co-exactness which serve as qualitative and quantitative analogues of finite-dimensionality for operator modules over completely contractive Banach algebras. With these notions we begin the development of a local theory of operator modules by introducing analogues of the local lifting property, nuclearity, and semi-discreteness. For a large class of operator modules we prove that the local lifting property is equivalent to flatness, generalizing the operator space result of Kye and Ruan [37]. We pursue applications to abstract harmonic analysis, where, for a locally compact quantum group G , we show that L 1 ( G ) -nuclearity of LUC ( G ) and L 1 ( G ) -semi-discreteness of L ∞ ( G ) are both equivalent to co-amenability of G . We establish the equivalence between A ( G ) -injectivity of G ⋉ ¯ M , A ( G ) -semi-discreteness of G ⋉ ¯ M , and amenability of W ⁎ -dynamical systems ( M , G , α ) with M injective. We end with remarks on future directions.

Null-orbit reflexive operators

Abstract:We introduce and study the notion of null-orbit reflexivity, which is a slight perturbation of the notion of orbit-reflexivity. Positive results for orbit reflexivity and the recent notion of $\mathbb{C}$-orbit reflexivity both extend to null-orbit reflexivity. Of the two known examples of operators that are not orbit-reflexive, one is null-orbit reflexive and the other is not. The class of null-orbit reflexive operators includes the classes of hyponormal, algebraic, compact, strictly block-upper (lower) triangular operators, and operators whose spectral radius is not 1. We also prove that every polynomially bounded operator on a Hilbert space is both orbit-reflexive and null-orbit reflexive.

Abstract:In this paper, we first characterize reflexive one-sided A-submodules U of a unital operator algebra A in B(H) completely, Furthermore we investigate the invariant subspace lattice Lat R and the reflexive hull Ref R, where R is the submodule generated by rank-one operators in U; in particular, if L is a subspace lattice, we obtain when the rank-one algebra R of Alg L is big enough to determined Alg L in the following senses: Alg L = Alg Lat R and Alg L = Ref R.

Abstract:In this article, we give a representation for compact operators acting between reflexive Banach spaces, which generalizes the representation given by Edmunds et al. for compact operators between reflexive Banach spaces with strictly convex duals. Further, we give a representation for operators on Banach spaces that are comparable to compact normal operators on Hilbert spaces and illustrate our result with an example.

Some results on the strong uniqueness of the best approximation operator from RS-sets are proved and the uniqueness element of a sun in the compact operator space from c(0) to c(0) is characterized by the strict Kolmogorov's condition. Some recent results due to Lewicki and others are extended and improved.

Abstract:Abstract Given a finite group $G$, a central subgroup $H$ of $G$, and an operator space $X$ equipped with an action of $H$ by complete isometries, we construct an operator space $X_{G}$ equipped with an action of $G$ that is unique under a “reasonable” condition. This generalizes the operator space complexification $X_{c}$ of $X$. As a linear space $X_{G}$ is the space obtained from inducing the representation of $H$ to $G$ (in the sense of Frobenius). Indeed a main achievement of our paper is the induced representation construction in the category of operator spaces. This has been hitherto elusive even for Banach spaces since it is not clear how to norm the induced space. We show that for a large class of group actions the induced space has a unique operator space norm.

Abstract:We completely characterize orbit reflexivity and R-orbit reflexivity for square matrices over the real numbers. Unlike the complex case in which every matrix is orbit reflexive and C-orbit reflexivity is characterized solely in terms of the Jordan form, the orbit reflexivity and R-orbit reflexivity of a real matrix is described in terms of the linear dependence over Q of certain elements of R/Q. We also show that every n-by-n matrix over an uncountable field F is algebraically F-orbit reflexive.

Abstract:This article, addressed to a general audience of functional analysts, is intended to be an illustration of a few basic principles from `noncommutative functional analysis', more specifically the new field of {\em operator spaces.} In our illustration we show how the classical characterization of (possibly non-surjective) isometries between function algebras generalizes to operator algebras. We give some variants of this characterization, and a new proof which has some advantages.

Abstract:In this paper, we firstly discuss the question: Is $l_{2}^{\infty}$ homeomorphic to a rectifiable space or a paratopological group? And then, we mainly discuss locally compact rectifiable spaces, and show that a locally compact and separable rectifiable space is $\sigma$-compact, which gives an affirmative answer to A.V. Arhangel'skiǐ and M.M. Choban's question [On remainders of rectifiable spaces, Topology Appl., 157(2010), 789-799]. Next, we show that a rectifiable space $X$ is strongly Fr$\acute{e}$chet-Urysohn if and only if $X$ is an $\alpha_{4}$-sequential space. Moreover, we discuss the metrizabilities of rectifiable spaces, which gives a partial answer for a question posed in \cite{LFC2009}. Finally, we consider the remainders of rectifiable spaces, which improve some results in \cite{A2005, A2007, A2009, Liu2009}.

Abstract:A graph is called locally finite if, for each vertex , the set of its adjacent vertices is finite. For an arbitrary locally finite graph with vertex set and an arbitrary field , let be the vector space over of all functions (with natural componentwise operations) and let be the linear operator defined by for all , . In the case of a finite graph , the mapping is the well-known operator defined by the adjacency matrix of the graph (over ), and the theory of eigenvalues and eigenfunctions of such operators is a well developed part of the theory of finite graphs (at least, in the case ). In the present paper, we develop the theory of eigenvalues and eigenfunctions of the operators for infinite locally finite graphs (however, some results that follow may present certain interest for the theory of finite graphs) and arbitrary fields , even though in the present paper special emphasis is placed on the case of a connected graph with uniformly bounded degrees of vertices and . The previous attempts in this direction were not, in the author's opinion, quite satisfactory in the sense that they have been concerned only with eigenfunctions (and corresponding eigenvalues) of rather special type.
