Abstract:The present paper is concerned with problems of the strong uniqueness of the best approximation and the characterization of a uniqueness element in operator spaces. Some results on the strong uniqueness of the best approximation operator from RS-sets are proved and the uniqueness element of a sun in the compact operator space from c(0) to c(0) is characterized by the strict Kolmogorov's condition. Some recent results due to Lewicki and others are extended and improved.

Abstract:We introduce a new tensor product⊗:σ,∨ and study the weak* conditionC′, which is also called weak* exactness, for dual operator spaces. Our definition of weak* conditionC′ is equivalent to Kirchberg's notion of weak exactness in the case of von Neumann algebras. We also study the connection of weak* exact W*-TROs with their linking von Neumann algebras and study the structure of exact (respectively, nuclear) W*-TROs.

We show that an operator space V has the approximately local lifting property if and only if V∗ is injective. Abstract:In this paper, we mainly study operator spaces which have the locally lifting property (UP). The dual of any ternary ring of operators is shown to satisfy the strongly local reflexivity, and this is used to prove that strongly local reflexivity holds also for operator spaces which have the LLP. Several homological characterizations of the UP and weak expectation property are given. We also prove that for any operator space V, V** has the LLP if and only if V has the LLP and V* is exact.

Abstract:The topological properties of coverings and their corresponding covering approximation operators have drawn special attention because these topological properties have important applications in rough sets. In this paper, we present some topological characterizations for three covering approximation operators. In the first part, we present certain topological characterizations for the covering lower approximation operator in an infinite universe, while the topological characterizations for the first and the second types of covering upper approximation operators are studied in a finite universe. In the second part, the relationships among three operators and the relationships among three topological spaces are established. In a word, topology theory provides useful tools to study covering-based rough sets.

Abstract:This paper studies the nuclearity for operator spaces.The authors show that an operator space V is nuclear if and only if V is exact and finitely injective,and also prove that every finite dimensional operator subspace in V is nuclear if and only if V is nuclear and every finite dimensional operator subspace in V is completely complement in V.As a corollary,it is obtained that if every finite dimensional subspace of an infinite dimensional operator space V is nuclear,then V is 1-Hilbertian and 1-homogeneous.

Abstract:In this paper, we study two 'dual' problems in the operator space theory. We first show that if L is a finite-dimensional operator space, then L has the OLLP if and only if for ally indexed family of operator spaces (W-i)(i epsilon I) and a free ultrafilter U on I, we have a complete isometry Pi (L (circle times) over capW(i))/U = L (circle times) over cap Pi W-i/U. Abstract:In this paper we obtain a necessary and sufficient condition for an operator on a uniform algebra to be nice. We characterize nice operators on an expansive class of Banach spaces. Then as examples, we give a complete description of nice operators on the space of differentiable functions on compact perfect plane sets, Bloch and Zygmund spaces and the space of Lipschitz functions on intervals. We also prove that every surjective nice operators are isometries on some of these Banach spaces.

Abstract:The process of identifying a Dirichlet-type space $D(\mu)$ for a positive, Borel measure $\mu$, supported on the unit circle $\mathbb T,$ with a de Branges-Rovnyak space was initiated by Sarason. A characterization of the symbol for a de Branges-Rovnyak spaces for which the shift operator is a $2$-isometry, was provided in an article by Kellay and Zarrabi. In this paper, capitalizing on the Aleman's model for the cyclic, analytic, completely hyperexpansive operators, we provide a characterization of cyclic, analytic, completely hyperexpansive operator with finite rank defect operator in terms of the symbol for a de Branges-Rovnyak space.

Abstract:We construct non-exact operator spaces satisfying the Weak Expectation Property (WEP) and the Operator space version of the Local Lifting Property (OLLP). These examples should be compared with the example we recently gave of a $C^*$-algebra with WEP and LLP. The construction produces several new analogues among operator spaces of the Gurarii space, extending Oikhberg's previous work. Each of our "Gurarii operator spaces" is associated to a class of finite dimensional operator spaces (with suitable properties). In each case we show the space exists and is unique up to completely isometric isomorphism.

Abstract:The relationship between the operator approximation property and the strong operator approximation property has deep significance in the theory of operator algebras. The original definitions of Effros and Ruan, unlike the classical analogues, make no mention of compact operators or compact sets. In this paper we introduce ``compact matrix sets'' which correspond to the two different operator approximation properties, and show that a space has the operator approximation property if and only if the ``operator compact'' operators are contained in the closure of the finite rank operators. We also investigate when the two types of compactness agree, and introduce a natural condition which guarantees that they do.

Abstract:Following several papers in the prior literature, we study the relationship between order bounded operators, topologically bounded operators and topologically continuous operators. Our main contribution is two folded: (i) we provide a set of counterexamples to illustrate several extant results in the literature; (ii) we give conditions for the space of order bounded operators to coincide with the space of topologically bounded operators as well as conditions for these two spaces to coincide with the space of topologically continuous operators.
