Abstract:In this paper, we prove that every completely contractive dual Banach algebra is completely isometric to a $w^\ast$-closed subalgebra the operator space of completely bounded linear operators on some reflexive operator space.

Abstract:A dual Banach algebra is a Banach algebra which is a dual space, with the multiplication being separately weak$^*$-continuous. We show that given a unital dual Banach algebra $\mc A$, we can find a reflexive Banach space $E$, and an isometric, weak$^*$-weak$^*$-continuous homomorphism $\pi:\mc A\to\mc B(E)$ such that $\pi(\mc A)$ equals its own bicommutant.

A representation theorem for order continuous Banach lattices with applications

Abstract:Suppose $X$ is a topological space and $S(X)$ is the vector lattice of all equivalence classes of real-valued continuous functions on open dense subsets of $X$. Although, $S(X)$ is not a normed lattice, we can have unbounded norm topology ($un$-topology) on it. On the other hand, the recent result, due to Wickstead, presents a representation approach for every Archimedean vector lattice $E$ in terms of $S(X)$-spaces. In this paper, we show that this representation is order continuous and when $E$ is order complete, it coincides with the known Maeda-Ogasawara representation. Moreover, we obtain a similar representation for an order continuous Banach lattice in terms of $S(X)$-spaces that is a $un$-homeomorphism. Furthermore, as an application, we establish a representation approach for the Fremlin projective tensor product between Banach lattices, in terms of $S(X)$-spaces, as well.

Abstract:We characterize Beurling quotient subspaces for pure doubly commuting isometric representations of product systems. As a consequence, we derive a concrete regular dilation theorem for a pure completely contractive covariant representation which satisfies Brehmer-Solel condition and using it and the above characterization, we provide a necessary and sufficient condition that when a completely contractive covariant representation is unitarily equivalent to the compression of the induced representation on the Beurling quotient subspace. Further, we study the relation between Sz.Nagy-Foias type factorization of isometric multi-analytic operators and joint invariant subspaces.

Abstract:Let $ X $ and $ Y $ be Banach spaces. We provide the representation of the dual space of compact operators $ K(X, Y) $ as a subspace of bounded linear operators $ \mathcal{L}(X, Y) $. The main results are: (1) If $ Y $ is separable, then the dual forms of $ K(X, Y) $ can be represented by the integral operator and the elements of $ C[0, 1] $. (2) If $ X^{**} $ has the weak Radon-Nikodym property, then the dual forms of $ K(X, Y) $ can be represented by the trace of some tensor products.

Abstract:In this article, we give a representation for compact operators acting between reflexive Banach spaces, which generalizes the representation given by Edmunds et al. for compact operators between reflexive Banach spaces with strictly convex duals. Further, we give a representation for operators on Banach spaces that are comparable to compact normal operators on Hilbert spaces and illustrate our result with an example.

Abstract:The main aim of this paper is to reform the Bernstein-Gelfand-Ponomarev theory in order to characterize representations of some (non-basic) artinian algebras. All non-isomorphic indecomposable projective and injective representations are constructed via Coxeter functors for a generalized path algebra of acyclic quiver and then for an artinian hereditary algebra of Gabriel-type with an admissible ideal. The methods given via natural quivers and reformed modulations are helpful for one to study some properties which are not Morita-invariant in representation theory.

Abstract:In previous works, Buskes and the author have made use of representations of Archimedean Riesz spaces in terms of real-valued continuous functions defined on dense open subsets of a topological space in studying tensor products. These representations may be obtained from the Ogasawara–Maeda representation by means of restriction to the set on which representing functions are real-valued, rather than infinite. In this note, we show how to obtain such a representation as a simple consequence of the Krein–Kakutani representation of an order unit space. We conclude by studying the representation of Riesz homomorphisms in this setting.

Abstract:The relation between the free Banach lattice generated by a Banach space and free dual spaces is clarified. In particular, it is shown that for every Banach space $E$ the free $p$-convex Banach lattice generated by $E^{**}$, denoted $FBL^p[E^{**}]$, admits a canonical isometric lattice embedding into $FBL^p[E]^{**}$ and $FBL^p[E^{**}]$ is lattice finitely representable in $FBL^p[E]$. Moreover, we also show that for $p>1$, $FBL^p[E]^{**}$ can actually be considered as the free dual $p$-convex Banach lattice generated by $E$, whereas for $p=1$ this happens precisely when $E$ does not contain complemented copies of $\ell_1$.

Abstract:In this article, we address a problem posed by F. Bayart regarding the existence of an infinite-dimensional closed vector subspace (excluding the null operator) within the set of supercyclic operators on Banach spaces. We resolve this problem by establishing the existence of the closed subspace. Furthermore, we prove that the set of supercyclic operators on $\ell_1$ contains, up to the null operator, an isometric copy of $\ell_1$.

Abstract:The present paper deals with a maximal monotone operator A of type (D) in a Banach space whose dual space is strictly convex. We establish some representations for the value Ax at a given point x via its values at nearby points of x . We show that the faces of Ax are contained in the set of all weak convergent limits of bounded nets of the operator at nearby points of x , then we obtain a representation for Ax by use of this set. In addition, representations for the support function of Ax based on the minimal-norm selection of the operator in certain Banach spaces are given.

Abstract:The first representation theorem establishes a correspondence between positive, self-adjoint operators and closed, positive forms on Hilbert spaces. The aim of this paper is to show that some of the results remain true if the underlying space is a reflexive Banach space. In particular, the construction of the Friedrichs extension and the form sum of positive operators can be carried over to this case.

Also, we study the relation between the pseudoamenability of FA and the pseudoamenability of the second dual A∗∗ and we also characterize approximate biflatness and approximate biprojectivity of FA associated with approximate biflatness and approximate biprojectivity of the second dual A∗∗ .

Abstract:We present a unified representation theorem for the class of all outer generalized inverses of a bounded linear operator. Using this representation we develop a few specific expressions and computational procedures for the set of outer generalized inverses. The obtained result is a generalization of the well-known representation theorem of the Moore--Penrose inverse as well as a generalization of the well-known results for the Drazin inverse and the generalized inverse A T,S (2) . Also, as corollaries we get corresponding results for reflexive generalized inverses.

Abstract:An analogue of Kakutani's representation theorem for Banach lattice algebras is provided. We characterize Banach lattice algebras that embed as a closed sublattice-algebra of $C(K)$ precisely as those with a positive approximate identity $(e_\gamma)$ such that $x^{*}(e_\gamma)\to \|x^{*}\|$ for every positive functional $x^{*}$. We also show that every Banach lattice algebra with identity other than $C(K)$ admits different product operations which are compatible with the order and the algebraic identity. This complements the classical result, due to Martignon, that on $C(K)$ spaces pointwise multiplication is the unique compatible product.
