Abstract:Distinguishability takes a crucial rule in studying observability of hybrid system. However, properties of distinguishability has not been studied deeply in the literature. We will give a definition of distinguishability of linear control systems and present a necessary and sufficient condition in this paper.

Nonlinear Analysis Hybrid Systems

Abstract:When observabilities of hybrid systems such as piecewise-affine hybrid systems are considered, the distinguishability of subsystems takes a very important role. However, properties and even definitions of such distinguishabilities have not been extensively studied in the literature. This paper will give a definition of the distinguishability of two linear control systems and present the necessary and sufficient condition of the distinguishability, giving an answer for the problem posed by Vidal et al. (C) 2008 Elsevier Ltd. All rights reserved.

Abstract:The observability of linear hybrid system may be affected by control inputs, which include discrete and continuous control inputs. The observability of hybrid system involves initial discrete states, continuous states and discrete state switched time. The control inputs effect on system states (mainly effect on discrete states) are (analyzed.) The switching of discrete states may help to improve the observability of some linear hybrid system which is unobservable before discrete switch. And the weaker condition of hybrid system observability and rank test rules are given. An illustrative example is given at last.

Abstract:In order to solve the problem of stability of hybrid systems with arbitrary switching laws, a class of affine nonlinear hybrid system was investigated. The complete dehybridization of this class of system was firstly realized according to the order-reducing character and by designing the controlling laws of sliding mode control. The control design of the system was then carried out according to the control theories and methods applied to common continuous nonlinear systems. At last, a final sliding mode control law which ensures the stability of hybrid systems was obtained by transformation. The simulation results confirm the validity of the proposed control law.

Abstract:In this paper, several different concepts of controllability are investigated for a class of linear singular systems which system parameters are piecewise constant. Necessary and sufficient geometric criteria for C-controllability and R-controllability of such systems are established, respectively. These conditions can be easily transformed into algebraic form. By applying the principle of duality, C-observability is discussed as well. Furthermore, the intrinsic relationship between these results and existing results are also discussed. Then, a novel necessary, and sufficient criterion for C-controllability of linear time-invariant singular systems is derived as a byproduct.

Abstract:This paper is devoted to a study of linear, differential and topological classifications for linear controlled systems governed by ordinary differential equations. The necessary and sufficient conditions for the linear and topological equivalence are given. Abstract:This paper studies detectability and observability of discrete-time stochastic linear systems. Based on the standard notions of detectability and observability for time-varying linear systems, corresponding definitions for discrete-time stochastic systems are proposed which unify some recently reported detectability and exact observability concepts for stochastic linear systems. The notion of observability leads to the stochastic version of the well-known rank criterion for observability of deterministic linear systems. By using these two concepts, the discrete-time stochastic Lyapunov equation and Riccati equations are studied. The results not only extend some of the existing results on these two types of equation but also indicate that the notions of detectability and observability studied in this paper take analogous functions as the usual concepts of detectability and observability in deterministic linear systems. It is expected that the results presented may play important roles in many design problems in stochastic linear systems.

Abstract:Reachability and controllability of positive discrete-time switched linear systems are firstly studied in this paper. First, a theoretic equivalent condition for reachability is addressed. A sufficient condition is also presented, but a counterexample shows that it is not necessary. A verifiable equivalent condition is given for a class of systems. Next, we show that reachability and null controllability is equivalent to complete controllability. A equivalent condition for null controllability is addressed and a verifiable one is given for a class of systems.

Abstract:This paper studies the controllability and observability of a class of linear piecewise constant impulsive systems. Necessary and sufficient criteria for reachability and controllability are established, respectively. It is proved that the reachability is equivalent to the controllability under some mild conditions. Then, necessary and sufficient criteria for observability and determinability of such systems are established, respectively. It is also proved that the observability is equivalent to the determinability under some mild conditions. Our criteria are of geometric type, they can be transformed into algebraic type conveniently. Finally, a numerical example is given to illustrate the utility of our criteria.

Abstract:In this paper, the hybrid controllability and mode controllability of switched linear systems are investigated. It is proved that, for switched linear systems, the hybrid controllability is equivalent to the state controllability. Based on this fact, a sufficient and necessary condition for hybrid controllability of switched linear systems is established. Furthermore, the results are extended to switch linear systems with time-delay in control. Two examples are provided to illustrate our results.

Abstract:The observability of nonlinear systems was considered in this note. First, we reviewed the definitions and relations of observable, locally observable, weakly observable, locally weakly observable, uniformly locally weakly observable and completely uniformly locally weakly observable. Then, a sufficient condition under which a multi-output nonlinear system is completely uniformly locally weakly observable was given. The sufficient condition becomes necessary and sufficient condition when the system is single-output. We also gave a canonical form of these multi-output systems. In the end, an example illustrated how to use the given sufficient conditions to determine whether a nonlinear system is completely uniformly locally weakly observable.

Abstract:Controllability and observability are two fundamental issues in system analysis and synthesis. In this chapter, we discuss how to algebraically decide whether or not a system possesses these properties using their model parameters. For a spatially connected system, we prove that these properties are completely determined by the transmission zeros of its subsystems and its subsystem connection matrix. This result reveals relations between properties of the whole system and those of its subsystems and its geometric structure; it is attractive in the analysis and synthesis of a large-scale system from the viewpoint of both computational costs and numerical stability.

Abstract:The concept of I-controllablizability for descriptor linear systems is introduced. Based oil the canonical equivalent form for derivative feedback and a necessary and sufficient condition for I-controllability of descriptor linear systems, a sufficient and necessary condition for I-controllablization is proposed, and a general parameterization of all the I-controllablizing controllers is also presented. An additional advantage of the approach is that it gives the desired closed-loop dynamical order. A numerical example shows the effect of the proposed approach.
