Abstract:In this paper,exact controllability and exact null controllability of infinite di- mensional linear systems are considered in non-reflexive state space and reflexive control space.For the systems governed by C-semigroups,the criteria for exact controllability and exact null controllability via controls in LP([O,T],U),1<p≤∞are obtained.For the sys- tems governed by C_0-semigroups,the authors also get a necessary and sufficient condition for exact null controllability via controls in L~P([O,T],U),1<p≤∞.Two applications are given to illustrate the abstract results.

Abstract:This paper considers the problem of exact controllability of linear control systems with compact semigroup in non-reflexive state spaces and control spaces. The weak convergence of bounded sequence of control functions with respect to the subspace of the dual space is studied and a lemma for the weak convergence is proved. Based on the lemma and the strong separation theorem, a necessary and sufficient condition for exact controllability of compact semigroups with respect to the space consisting all essentially bounded measurable functions is obtained. An example of heat equation is presented to illustrate the utility of the result. Some related problems remaining for further study are addressed.

Abstract:This paper considers the problem of exact null controllability of infinite dimensional linear systems in non-reflexive state spaces and reflexive control spaces. The starting point of this paper is the work of A. Vieru (Systems & Control Lett. 54 (2005) 331-337), which obtains the characterization of exact null controllability via bounded control functions in reflexive state spaces and control spaces (see Remark 2.2 of (Systems & Control Lett. 54 (2005) 331-337)). We will show here if the state space X is a general Banach space and U is reflexive, the similar result is also valid for exact null controllability via bounded control functions, which extends the results of (Systems & Control Lett. 54 (2005) 331-337)

Abstract:It is well-known that the controllability of finite-dimensional nonlinear systems can be established by showing the controllability of the linearized system. However, this classical result does not generalize to infinite-dimensional nonlinear systems. In this paper, we restrict ourselves to semilinear infinite-dimensional systems, and show that the exact controllability of the linearized system implies exact controllability of the nonlinear system. The restrictions concerning the nonlinear operator are similar to those that can be found in the literature about the linearized stability analysis of semilinear systems.

Abstract:In this paper, several different concepts of controllability are investigated for a class of linear singular systems which system parameters are piecewise constant. Necessary and sufficient geometric criteria for C-controllability and R-controllability of such systems are established, respectively. These conditions can be easily transformed into algebraic form. By applying the principle of duality, C-observability is discussed as well. Furthermore, the intrinsic relationship between these results and existing results are also discussed. Then, a novel necessary, and sufficient criterion for C-controllability of linear time-invariant singular systems is derived as a byproduct.

Abstract:This paper studies the controllability of a class of time‐invariant discrete‐time bilinear systems. Although the system is not controllable in the whole space, there is a very large region where control is effective. Results show that the uncontrollable region of this kind of bilinear system has a Lebesgue measure of zero. In other words, for almost any initial state and any terminal state in the state space, the former can be transferred to the latter. Further, a necessary condition for near controllability is presented. Therefore, the results in this paper unify and generalize the corresponding conclusions in the literature. ©2014 Chinese Automatic Control Society and Wiley Publishing Asia Pty Ltd

Abstract:In order to establish criteria for the controllability of general nonlinear stochastic systems, the sufficient condition for the complete controllability of a class of neutral nonlinear integrodifferential stochastic systems is determined by introducing a controllability operator, constructing suitable feedback control and using the Banach fixed-point theorem. The results show that the systems are completely controllable when the Lipchitz coefficients of nonlinear and neutral terms are both small enough. The applicability of the obtained results is finally verified by an example.

Abstract:The existence of solutions to systems is a natural premise to carry our study about controllability. Under the basic and readily verified conditions to guarantee the existence of the solutions to a system, in this paper, we prove the relative controllability (approximate controllability ) of the stochastic differential systems with delay in control. Sufficient conditions are given firstly for the relative controllability and relative approximate controllability in finite dimensional spaces, and these results are then generalized to infinite-dimensional Hilbert spaces. Finally, examples are given to illustrate the effectiveness of the proposed methods.

Abstract:In this work, by constructing fundamental solutions and using the theory of resolvent operators and fractional powers of operators, we study the approximate controllability of a class of semi-linear stochastic integro-differential equations with infinite delay in L-p space (2 < p < infinity). Sufficient conditions for approximate controllability of the discussed equations are obtained under the assumption that the associated deterministic linear system is approximately controllable. An example is provided to illustrate the obtained results.

Abstract:This article addresses the approximate and exact controllability issues of switched infinite-dimensional linear systems. First, a controllability map that is related to switching sequence and a controllability Gramian operator are proposed, based on which two necessary and sufficient conditions are established for approximate and exact controllability, respectively. Second, it shows that the obtained conditions can degenerate into the existing controllability criteria of infinite-dimensional linear systems, switched finite-dimensional linear systems, and a single finite-dimensional linear system. Finally, the new results are applied to analyze the approximate controllability of switched linear parabolic systems and the exact controllability of switched linear wave systems. Two examples are given to illustrate the effectiveness of the proposed approaches.

Abstract:Whether the controllability of a continuous system keeps the consistency after discretization is an important issue in engineering.Recently,a two-dimensional counterexample was constructed by Elliott for an uncontrollable bilinear system and showed that its discrete-time counterpart is,however,controllable.In this paper,a sufficient condition for controllability of a class of second order discrete-time bilinear systems is proposed,which extends the result given by Elliott to more general cases and therefore,deepens our understanding of controllability of bilinear systems.Furthermore,it is shown that the controllability counterexample does not exist if the dimension of such systems is greater than two.

Abstract:The controllability for a class of fractional-order linear control systems is mainly investigated. The generalizations of the usual complete solution formulae of the fractional-order linear control systems are derived not only for time-invariant case but also for time-varying case. Several sufficient and necessary conditions for state controllability of such systems are established and the corresponding criteria for fractional-order time-invariant continuous-time systems are also obtained. The results obtained will be help for future study of fractional-order control systems.

Abstract:In this paper, we study the approximate controllability and noncontrollability for a class of nonlinear degenerate integrodifferential control systems. Based on the property of finite propagation for the disturbances, we prove noncontrollability. We also establish sufficient conditions for approximate controllability of the system in L 2(\Omega) .
